Hell yeah dude, that's what it's about. If you learn from your mistakes, you're sure to grow even better than before.

With that in mind, I'm kind of scratching my head and saying WTF to myself..

I went down to check on the plants last night before bed, and all was looking awesome. The tallest is at 17.5".. Well, with a closer inspection, the 3 tallest ones are actually starting to show female preflowers.

Check out these pictures. It's a bit hard to see on the pics, but I am certain these are female preflowers. They have the typical two white hairs emerging from a bud site. What blows my mind is these are bagseeds, and I've had the light on 24/0.. Are they just showing sex because they've reached maturity, regardless of the light cycle? I've never seen this or heard of this unless it's an auto flowering strain, but I will never know if that is the case.

It's the three tallest plants that are showing sex. Their height ranges from 12.5" - 17.5"

Like I said, in the pics, it's hard to tell, but in person, you can tell that the hairs are white, and it's not veg growth. I've seen females and males develop, so I'm certain these are lady parts.

I know the smallest plant is only 9" right now, but I'm going to shut the light down for 24 hours starting tonight. I will pop in the HPS bulb and get started on the 12/12 cycle this Saturday.

Stay tuned, once they start budding, this journal will be filled with bud porn.

thanks guys.. My cam is a Canon S5 IS.. It's not the best camera out there, but it does some pretty good stuff when you learn how to use it. I've had it for a couple of years and have only recently been able to get some really nice shots from it.. I stumbled upon the manual zoom mode, where you can manually set the focus point and distance.. It really comes in handy for the closeups.. I can't wait to post up some trich shots when they start budding. You guys will never leave my journal lol

Day 2 of Flowering, day 43 from first seeds

Not much to report.. The ladies have started to stretch and are looking so beautiful. The pics show a slight drooping top, but I think it's because they're a tad over watered. Last night when I flipped the lights on, I noticed they were a little dry, not dry enough to need watered, but definitely too dry to wait another day for watering since I had a feeling I wouldn't get time to do it before work today. By the time I get home I'm sure they will have picked back up. I wish I snapped some pics last night because they looked incredible when I turned the light back on.

When I popped in the HPS, I noticed it put off a lot more heat than the MH. I was worried about my temps spiking, so I backed the light off a couple more inches and directed the fan at the bulb. My temps have been a steady 80F and around 65F when the light is off, so I'm happy about that.

I popped in the HPS on Saturday, and wow, I thought the MH was bright, but this thing is like the sun. 95,000 lumens lights everything up so well that when I leave the grow room, my eyes are all jacked up haha.

Still only 3 females and 2 unknown. The 2 tallest females are 20" and the other one is around 17".. I'm going to have some big plants by the time I'm done, but that's okay, as long as they deliver the buddage, they can get as big as they want. I'm super excited about this harvest as it's my first major harvest.. The last one didn't even count because it was so small. This time around I should have some sticky rocks to cut down instead of the fluff I had before.

You guys have no idea how excited I am lol.

I forgot to mention I gave them a dose of veg nutes, a little stronger than before to help them with their stretch. I figure I'll switch to bloom nutes when they start popping a decent amount of hairs. Does this sound good, or would I be better off just switching to bloom nutes now?

thanks bro! I'm super psyched at how well these plants are turning out, especially compared to my last grow.. The bud from my last grow was amazing, I got stoned for like 3 hours off it, and it had seeds in it.. I can only imagine how intense this stuff is going to be. I haven't been smoking as much lately since I've been low on funds, and there isn't anything but high grade around, and F payin 65 a cut when I will just end up smoking it all in a week. I haven't smoked since Wednesday night, but a break is always good to reset the tolerance.

When you say the first signs of bud making, is that after the hairs start, or once the actual buds begin to form?

Seems the credit crunch hit a lot of us lol After 20 years of daily smoking I got let down and peeved and also moved miles away from where I was previously so I have been off the weed now for a month. After years of fearing the come down it wasnt too bad really, suffered for about ten days I think, now its just not on my mind constantly like it was before and to be honest, certain things have been much more productive without it.

Its a message to myself to change the habits, stick to real quality home produced stuff and stick to evenings/weekends whatever and not have two for breakfast and one before I undertake any activity as its downhill from there. Lets see if I will be able to stick to that once I have some wonderful nugs eh? Of course it will be another 3 months before I get my hands on some most likely but I enjoyed the buzz of growing so much that I still have all the excitement and Im sure we all actually do understand your own excitement Crimson m8.

These look to be all doing really great, well done, keep it up, looking forward to seeing these flowering wonderfully.

yeah man, I totally feel you on that. I thought not smoking would be really hard, but honestly, I don't really have a problem with it.. I still want to and still have the desire, but it doesn't affect my mood or anything. It just makes the times when you actually have it that much better.

I used to smoke all day pretty much every day, like you said.. I would smoke before any activity but after a while, it just doesn't have the same effect as it used to. Sticking to once or twice a day really helps, and not smoking a huge amount at a time.. I found hitting a medium sized bowl between me and my girl is a good medium. We smoke at night after work to relax and unwind from the day, and then again before bed. The weekends are a different story.. We generally smoke all day long lol. I found waiting until at least lunch time or after lunch makes for a better daily high.. If we wake and bake and continue smoking, by the time 8pm rolls around, I don't really get that high anymore and it's kind of a waste.

All this talk about smoking makes me wanna buy a bag.. Gotta keep my shit together though and wait it out. Money is just a bit too tight right now. I had a run in with the police regarding my car and have about $400 in fines.. I'm pleading not guilty to them because it's complete BS.. Just gotta keep appealing them, and eventually the cops give up and don't show to the hearing. That's another story for another day though lol.

Picked up some sour diesel last night and broke my dry streak.. This stuff is amazing.. Best sour D I've ever had. I don't know if it was the week off or what but I was really stoned last night and we didn't even smoke much. I would give it a 9.5/10 though, and it smells delicious.

Not much to update.. The tallest plant is 22.5" now, they're shooting up like crazy.. I gave them plain water yesterday, and I will hit them with some nutes when I flip the lights on tonight. The two smallest ones haven't shown sex yet, but based on the little specs that are forming, they might be male.. Still too early to tell, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I have my 3 biggest plants that are ladies, so I'm happy with that. I can get more plants out of the 600W for sure.. I just need to start cloning so I can be sure to have a certain number of plants on hand at all times.

I hit them with plain water again yesterday, and gave the two tallest ones a small dose of veg nutes. They are starting to curl down on the leaf tips, I wonder if that could be caused by high temps? I'll have to look into it a bit and see if there's a problem starting or not. The droopy plant was a bit dry this morning when the lights went off. I'm sure she will look better when I turn the lights back on.

Leaves that are drooping from underwatering will look limp and lifeless.

Leaves that are drooping from overwatering will be firm and curled down, even from the stem of the leaf.

If that is any use.

its definitely underwatering that is causing the big one on the left to droop.. It's very sensitive to water and if it dries out for longer than a few hours, it starts to really look bad. I have to keep it wet at all times. It's definitely not over watered because I water daily, about 16oz and get a little runoff, and by the time I water again, the soil is completely dry.

I'm thinking it has to do with heat / underwatering. I should give them a good flushing anyway to get rid of any built up veg nutes as I will be switching to bloom pretty soon.

They're getting pretty tall. The tallest girl is 23", smallest is about 19". The two smallest plants are still not showing sex, but they're about 12-18" tall. I'm definitely going to have some big plants on my hands. I was looking over my grow area and if needed, I can hang the light from the ceiling and give myself another 1-2' of vertical space.

May be useful then if you think it has some relation to the watering (I understand sometimes flushing can cause more ongoing problems than it cures): Plant Moisture Stress - Symptoms and Solutions

On average I believe those plants can triple in size during the flowering stage

thanks for the link bro, It mentions leaf edge curling from over nuting and possible heat stress.. It gets warm in there, around 80F where I have my thermometer, I'm sure under the light it gets even hotter.. I might need to invest in an air cooled reflector. I've been misting the plants once a day and they seem to like that, but all the water dries up after about an hour. I think a good drenching will do them well. I don't think it's related to over nuting, I only feed them once every 2-3 days and feed them at half strength. No other signs of nute burn. I'm betting it's the heat. I'm going to raise the light a couple of inches tonight and see how they react. I haven't raised it in the past few days because it's as high as it will go. The plants grow an inch closer each day. so I'm willing to bet that will fix the problem..

thanks for stopping by guys.. I was cleaning out my garage last night and found 4 small pots in new condition from the previous owners. These will work so much better than cups and I won't have to transplant before they've built a really strong root system. I'm hoping this translates into healthier plants for the future.

If you remember me talking about the last bag of kush I got that was mildly seeded, well I started germing 4 of those seeds this morning to fill these new pots with.. I'm giving 12/12 from seed with HPS a try, as I have a bit of extra space in my box. Why waste the light? Anyway, I think the two unconfirmed plants are going to be male. They haven't formed much of a preflower yet, but from what's there I'm guessing male for both of them. Will give them a bit more time to show, incase the first few are bananas, but I'm pretty positive they're dudes. This brings my plant count down to 3 females.. Still better than last time, but this makes me realize I really need to start cloning so I'm not wasting time and resources on males until I'm ready to start breeding.

I figure the first set of seeds I buy, I will grow the males and make an unlimited amount of seeds, then work on perfecting the female genetics. Growing is so much fun, and so addicting lol.
