I recommend to anyone uses dry amendment who reads this after top dressing or starting new home made soil to brew a batch of compost tea an easy recipe in a 5 gallon pail of aerated non chlorinated water 1 tbs alfalfa meal,1tbs oyster shell flour,1Tbs kelp,1cup ewc or finished compost I use castings and 1oz of QUALITY fish hydralislate I use pacific gro fish with 10% bio char brew at temp where you'll be using it for 24/36 hrs and strain with a paint strainer bag from the local hardware into wat watering can and add water soulable mycorrhizae.
Use full strength and water in the microbes in the tea will help start breaking down the dry amendment so it's usable for the plant fairly quickly 👍✌️

Rove Beetle (Dalotia coriaria)

Dalotia coriaria is a fast-moving, soil dwelling rove beetle. It is a generalist predator that feeds on a wide range of small insects and mites but is primarily an egg predator.

The Rove Beetle is used in the control of fungus gnats, thrips pupae, moth fly larvae, shore flies, root mealybugs, springtails and other small arthropods.

The supplied adults can fly and find hard-to-reach locations in greenhouses where pests may lurk. The larvae are predaceous and resemble the adults. They thrive in damp conditions and are ideally introduced early during propagation cycles in greenhouses. Can be combined with BioStratiolaelaps to help prevent root aphids

While they are beetles, they do not quite look like beetles. They are light to dark brown in color, with adults being 3-4 mm long. BioAtheta curve their abdomen upwards (like scorpions) and can run or fly when disturbed . Since they can actively fly, they rapidly colonize the release area.

Each adult rove beetle consumes 10-20 prey per day. In greenhouse conditions, adults are non-diapausing and can be used year round especially in propagation conditions.

.Stratiolaelaps scimitus is a soil-dwelling predatory mite whose nymphs and adults feed on fungus gnat larva, thrips pupae and other small invertebrates. These predatory mite stay at the base of plant stems and on the soil, rarely transferring onto the plant itself. ‘Strateos’ are most effective when applied before pest populations get well established and may be applied to propagation media. Can be used used in greenhouses, interioscapes, nurseries and outdoor crops.

Main target pests are fungus gnat and western flower thrips pupae in the soil. Additionally Springtails (Collembola), potworms (Enchytraeidae) and other small soil-dwelling invertebrates.

If anyone is wondering if a soil test is worth it, the answer is yes with a consultation the overall health of my plants is good no chemicals at all they might not grow the FASTEST but I have nothing but time for QUALITY even if the quantity is a little light that's ok as long as the quality is there with no chemicals its a sustainable lifestyle for mother 🌎 and my family 👍😊

Something to consider when top dressing dry amendment is particle size and how quick do you need it to be available for your plants?
The larger the size the longer it takes to break down to be usable especially phosphorus so take that into consideration when applying dry amendment and what the amendment and how quick does it need to be available is soft rock and gypsum take awhile to break down where as AG will break down quicker because of particle size like flour compared to pebble for screen size✌️. See this is one of the things where the organic farmer differs from the chemical farmer one thing , anyways phosphorus and its run off and sustainability is another.
