I planned on using a few wicking holes down the 36" that can be plugged up as the roots get deeper. Several different water tables to use throughout the grow.I would think you probably wouldn’t want it more than about 12” - 14 inches tall. You aren’t going to get much wicking action in a 36” deep pot.
I'm gonna give it a go to see what happens.... In the name of science, of course. I'll post a few pics once I get it built.
I may end up shortening it a bit just to save on overall nutrient mix to fill that long pipe while the roots are still short. But once they stretch out, I should be able to water/feed just like my current hempy bucket setup. I really just want to see what the root system looks like when I cut it down after harvest, grown in a big long tube like that.Science the shit out of it! Lol
That’s a good idea with the wicking homes. That may just work. And then use gravity to flush from the bottom now and then so the tesivoir doesn’t get stagnant.
I'm a heavy Sativa smoker. LoL Smoking on my last Jack Herer harvest now with 2-Green Crack and 1-Amnesia Haze about to finish...week 6 flowering now. I've come up with a few crazy ideas that work, and a bunch that don't. LoL, never stops me from trying again though...Right on Preston. I have a technical engineering background so I'm always trying to improve stuff. I think you would be extremely happy with the 12" pots and I was going to make about six of them myself originally to fit in my tent. It sometimes takes everything I have to back it down and dial it back to keep it simple. That sativa will give you extra engineering capabilities and there's always the desire to increase yield.
Hell yeah! The good & the bad... I'm all about it. I like learning from others success & failure much better than failing repeatedly in an attempt something that isn't even possible.I’m pretty sure @Tead could tell you what happens with just about every length of 6” pvc pipe hempies.
Had some leftover building materials from a job I was working today (I'm a plumber on new construction homes)
Anyhow, I ended up with an 8 foot stick of 6" PVC.... Which will definitely become my next 2 hempy pots.
I'm thinking about making them 36" deep. What do y'all think?
Oh yeah! LoL I'm a carpenter by trade. I planned on making a nice little stand out of wood to hold it upright.I would wait and see if Tead has input, he is all about the 6" PVC perlite pipe ... first I've seen anyone use as a Hempy pot. No doubt he has experimented with various lengths. 36" might need a base bigger than a cap to stabilize such a vertical pot.
Peace
Keith
I’m doing hempy too, so that’s at least five of us I think.
