Isn't it funny how the mystery seeds always turn out to be the most vigorious?
Good job Jones. The DC is looking promising. The plants will still produce, just not as much as they would have without the Cal/Mg hiccup, and now you found a comfortable spot for that additive, as evidenced by the steady improvement.
I'll be updating my garden here in a bit, and you'll get to see how the DC does when you have it right from the beginning. Well, here she is now. Why make you wait?
She's 60 days old today, just chomping at the bit, waiting on an open space. I'm still slightly overloaded in veg. It's teaching me how to keep a plant in veg longer.
I had to wire her with bonsai wire to get her controlled. That's been removed and she took on this lovely structure.
She's in a small trash can, it's between 1.5 and 2 gallons, which I believe has turned out to be the optimal container in my hempy garden for most of the chemovars I grow. The bigger containers grow bigger plants, which in my garden hasn't translated yet into significant increases in yield. I'll be watching for more of these cans. I bought the last three from Big Lots months ago and they've never restocked the black ones. I'm not interested in the white ones.
This shot gives you a good look at what a healthy DC looks like Jones. See the variation in green tones? It stays pretty consistent. When you grow a clone out you're gonna be blown away at how beautiful a chemovar this is.
Standard size for this stage. I've kept her chopped back, and I'm snapping off the growing tips to keep her in line before the flip. They're very aggressive growers.
Might as well show off the rest of the girls, since I'm here. The veg shelf enjoys the artificial sunlight from Timber quantum boards.
CBD Critical Cure 2.7 (Day 41) She's only been in her pot for 27 days, and she had small roots when I upcanned her. She'll follow 2.6 into the bloom tent in about two weeks or so. I'll get another can ready for her, the same size as DC's.
Chem Dawg (Day 23) It's been about a week since I upcanned the two youngest. She's up to full-strength nutrients tomorrow. I've been watering the entire garden every two days and thinking about finding a sponsor for nutrients. If anyone hears of a hungry sponsor, send them my way. Lol!
It can get costly, but dang...... Look at what good nutrients does to a garden.
Malawi 1.2 was the other transplant. She had teeny-tiny roots, but she looks happy, sitting there growing more roots. I'm in no rush. She could take three months to veg and I'd be happy.
In the closet we have Candy Cane 3.1. (Day 98, flip + 31) ......... Yeah...... She has that effect on me too. She looks more sculptural in this space than any plant I've grown in it. Starting to smell delicious. This one's gonna be tough to survive that stage when the smell rolls across the floor at night, when it's dark as night in there, and smacks me in the face as I sit cross-legged on the other side of the room, attempting to get some work done.
Don't let me fool you, it's one of my favorite features of growing in that space. When I have autos it stays open all the time, adding ambient lighting to the room that helps me survive the darkest months.
In the Spa under the Timber COBs Blue Dream (Day 112, flip + 39) is swinging into the final stages of maturity. She's a great example of what can be accomplished in those smaller pots.
The Spa had a run-in with powdery mildew this past week that led to a surprise harvest, and the two remaining got the first of weekly foliars of skim milk until they come down. That's why the leaves are so shiny.
Has the sweetest berry fragrance.
Under the GROWant we have Carnival 4.4 (Day 95, flip + 15). She's filled this entire space in the wider pot. Happy as I am with that, I think I can fit two plants in the smaller pots and get close to the same yield from each that I'd get growing them individually in these bigger pots.
She started blooming yesterday.
Last, but not at all least, CBD Critical Cure 2.6, my first of this chemovar that I've grown in hempy. I've discovered a distinct difference in the terpene expressions of the Carnivals grown in hempy vs soil. I've not found that to be true with this chemovar, or with the Devil's Carnival. This particular chemovar is the family base meds, serving both my daughter and myself. Her needs are more critical, and I was hesitant to go with hempy, not certain if the results would be beneficial in the same way. She's very sensitive to changes.
So far, this plant is giving off the same fragrance all her predecessors did, and at the same levels. The next clone will be in soil and I'll do another evaluation, but what I'm seeing is that with some chemovars the choice of medium matters, and for others it doesn't. My evaluations are based on my own sensory awareness, not on any lab results. It appears this plant will do well in either medium. Good. Opens up the options.
It's Day 107, 53 days from flip. About two more weeks should do it. This is that delightful period when the flowers burst out all over and she goes bumpy. I love this stage.
In hempy the colas are longer and more curved. Interesting. The buds look like their comparable in density to the soil-grown ones.
This chemovar was possibly the best recommendation I've recieved from the site. It's a near-perfect CBD expression. Thank you mon ami.
