Hempy Headquarters

Now I’m confused (as usual), is there another spot were supposed to post hempy pics and stuff?

Here’s my MegaCrop 2.0 girls they are at about day 50f, they are doing very well. At about day 35f I noticed a couple rust spots on one of the Malawi so I just went ahead and gave them a bit of CalMag along with the MegaCrop 2.0 for a couple waterings now and haven’t seen any acceleration of the rust spots. One Blueberry was yellowing a bit fast so I upped it’s MegaCrop 2.0 a little.

I use about the same. But I don’t really measure carefully, I sometimes do a heaping teaspoon and sometimes a light teaspoon. Just depending on how they’re looking at the time and their sensitivity, the Blueberry clones always get a heavy teaspoon and the Carnivals always a light one. The rest based on looks.

The 1.0 forumla for sure needed help but this 2.0 seems to be working a lot better, so far. I got some DDA and a couple photo clones on it now in veg. Trying to see how long they can go just on the 2.0 without any additives.

Same here, just kinda add a teaspoon ish

Cool, I'll go with that for awhile, see how they go

Those plants look great my friend

Well, we do have the hydroponics section:

And speaking of confusion, lol, I thought that's where this thread was. Turns out it's one of SweetSue's grow journals:hmmmm:. I don't think I paid any attention to which section it was posted in; I just saw it was one of Susan's threads and was on a subject that I was interested in.

Thanks man, I’m less “confusold” now. I never pay attention to what section I’m in, just use the “what’s new” page.

Do you think we should be in the hydro section guys? It never occurred to me, to be honest. It’d be a simple matter to get it moved.

Brix and I weigh our Mega Crop. It seems prudent. :laughtwo:

I vote the hempy thread continues as an independent stand alone.

no reason to fix what isn't broke. was poking some fun while pointing out how important this thread has become to the hempy community.

sue has kind of become our own private unofficial hempy mod. can't get better than that.

i agree.

pretty much anyone looking for info on hempy is gonna get get directed or wind up here on a search anyway.

Hi y'all. I'm having a problem.
I am using Mega Crop 2.0 in hempy.
I started seeing burn tips so I thought I was overfeeding. They look like a cal problem now. I had dark leaves so I thought I was feeding enough. Cut it back just a tad. Now these spots have shown up in the last 3 days. I am feeding at 4 grams per gallon.
I checked my reservoir and my pH was up to 6.8. I corrected with feed set at 5.7.
Is this as simple as too high pH? I replaced my Apple cider vinegar with Dynagro pH adjusters. They aren't holding any better with the Dynagro. I have lots of buffers in my water so it's not really a surprise as much as disappointment.

Here is what the damage looks like.

The damage is on all growth except the new stuff. I should mention that this is a variegated plant so some of her leaves are naturally yellow, which just make this more fun.:eye-roll:
I appreciate any help here.

Are you supplementing with Cal/Mg? That’s exactly the look I get when I tell myself they may not need Cal/Mg. :laughtwo: It always clears up when I begin supplementing.

I don’t find the need to pH adjust. I live off the Gulf of Mexico where water quality can get dicey. Because of that we use RO water for our gardens and that requires cal/mg additions. But if you’re drenching to at least a moderate flush every couple days or so pH isn’t the concern it is with other mediums, IMO.

I’m just starting a flowering with Mega Crop 2.0. The plant I flipped had some leaves that did this in veg, while I was off traveling and it was under another’s care. I simply clipped those leaves off so the plant could replace them with new, healthier leaves and keep moving forward.

It just occurred to me that I was planning to use Mega Crop 2.0 without Cal/Mg added. Next drench I’ll do just that. I’ll stay alert about this, and report back if I see any spots developing.

@DrDoob, you aren’t using cal/mg, are you?

must say, when i went lookin for hempy threads, that was the first place i looked,, hydro forum,, and,, well, no subsection for hempy,, made me sad

might i add as well how even with subsections and sub sub sections, it is still extremely difficult to nail down specific information on topics at the best of times. from lighting to hempies to ph to life itself

everything so scattered,, i have the darndest times,, and get extremely sad,,

I think my plants grew much better when I was pHing to 5.5. I may order the cal-mag. I do have hard water. This makes me think my pH isn't staying down long enough to hit that spot for calcium uptake.
I don't have a ec meter so I don't know the out of tap water values.
PHing to 5.8 works better if you are using ro I think. Not so much with my highly buffered source. So I guess my plan is to pH lower and refresh the reservoir more often before I up the Mega Crop.
According to their instructions I should be giving them between 4-4.5 grams/gallon.
I am a complete noob to both hempy and MC. I would appreciate any further thoughts on this.

Thanks so much for the assistance.

I add Cal/mag at the very start

I started adding it a week or 10 days ago due to the leaf issues as you mentioned, the 2.0 went the longest without needing cal/mag of anything else I’ve tried in hempy so far. Made it to about week 6 flowering with nothing but mega 2.0 with perfect looking green leaves.

Except probably the Malawi they’ve got less than 2 weeks of life left so some of that damage is probably just the usual leaves dying off before harvest.

Got a LST question. I bent them over. Will continue to pull it as it grows.

Question: do I need to go back and trim it up some?
