Heirloom's A Little Bit Of Everything - 2016 Journal

There you are. :laughtwo: :hugs::hugs::hugs:

I have wondered if I can actually do that. I wpuld prefer diatomaceous earth over any pesticide. Can I really sprinkle it over the crops?
This is the one I use

So much to learn...so many journals to follow.

Everyone has done a great job guiding you. As Dennise pointed out, I don't even have to post in my own journal, lol.

But I will add this to the discussion. DE washes off, that's why it's not effective after rain. A spray solution is the best way to apply it evenly, poofing is second. I have never actually sprayed a solution, instead opting to foilar spray something (anything, water or a foliar feeding) then immediately poof it on.

EDIT: Didn't finish this thought...... you can also poof it on the early morning dew.

I have a non drone question. My fella and I are floating the idea of in ground planting or pots. Since the natural fence won't be grown in by next season there are limited in ground options unless I use the old dog pin. Only problem is the ac unit is in that area.....so if there are problems I need to hide them....considering it is an old unit...sweetie is banking on at least another call.

Background done....question...it I want to do 20 plants total...I have space in the other part of the property for 10 in the ground.

In the dog pin if I use pots...what size...I would like someone better at the math to help me. I need those 10 pots to go on movable trailers...small enough to fit thru a standard fence.
How big for pots growing all season...final transplant pot....
I will be training them all
How many on each trailer.
How big should each trailer be

How much dirt am I really looking at for all 20 plants.

I plan on using OC+ when I prep the holes....do I still need bone meal and blood bymeal?

How long does it actually take for bone and blood meal to start breaking down?

I hope I am not getting on ur nerves. I am very much a planner and feel so calm when I have a plan.

Also complimentary plants that will help with smell. Thinking rosemary and citronella. Are there others that give off a strong smell?

So much to learn...so many journals to follow.

Sweetie, no one here is on my nerves. :circle-of-love: Planning is great and I am already fully into next years grow myself. Just keep in mind all the planning in the world won't guarantee success outdoors.

To answer your question, we need to work the math backwards from what you want/need to harvest next year. So, sorry, but I have to ask how much you need, how much you want. Figure up your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly needs for yourself (and whom ever else you freely supply), that's your need. Then what ever else you want to supply for other/patients. With those numbers we can work back to what size and how many plants/pots you will need and how much soil you're looking at.

As for pots and moving. Will they be on trailers permanently, or will you have to move them on and off for transport? Moving pots get hard at about 10-15 gallons. We have to move my trailer girls off today, 20 gallon pots and they are wet. They will take 2 people minimum to lift.

Blood and bone are available rather quickly, with in a few days in healthy soil. I have not used Ocote, so not sure what might need to go with it. I'm sure there are others with OC+ experience.

Add marigolds to your companion list. As well as garlic and onions.

I think we got the same storm... Lots of branches down and 2 trees were split in the south field... Fellas out there now chopping them up... One was my black walnut tree but there is not going to be any saving her... I figured my 3 outside girls and my:oops: reveg would be totaled but they made it through without much damage... :circle-of-love:

The outside girls are at the garden shack which is not even connected to this property... And the:oops: reveg is on the south end of the property... A good bit away from the walnut tree...:) I can't remember when or why but you had told me that before and I went out to make sure fella knew not to stack the wood around the one here.... :thanks: for the reminder....:circle-of-love:

Update

Just a quick pass through, as there is lots to be done today.

The never ending battle over Nitrogen continues with the BD.

That Dark Devil is a PIMA. Already clipping mold off. Heck, even in the extremely dry indoor enviro it molds. A week ago I shook it (outdoor) to release morning dew, the top snapped off, and I mean clean off. Never had one do that before. Such a brittle specimen. IDK, DD is probably getting culled from future grows, I don't think we were meant for each other. So glad I didn't do a bunch of them.

Bag seed girl is, well, a flippin' monster. Absolutely no smell. I just don't get it. She'll be getting structural support in the very near future.....so will Tangerine Dream. She suffered a twisted joint and a snapped stem. And.... here we are looking at Sept 1 around the corner and she still has yet to pop flowers. Hope it's not a dud. My girls inside are slow too. IDKWTF, but I'm rolling with it.

Without further bloviating, here are the girls this morn'....droopy with dew.

On the trailer.

This picture made me jump up and break a near fast trot out the door, lol (little fu#&3r). Plant is a DD X BD hybrid, and the only one I've popped that has had purple flowers. More lavender than the striking dark purple of the DD. That tells me something about the genes at play here.

I am a 4g per day smoker. I would like to make edibles and oil so about 6g per day which equals 4.8 lbs per year

I want them to stay on the trailer. As the kids are getting older and moving out I doubt have the help to move them. I also need to be able to pull this thing out the way. If u look in my journal I posted pics of the area.

Thank u so much

OK, round up to 5lb, add 25% for losses. I know guys here that have lost 25-75% to mold, pests and God just being angry at them.

So 6.25lb from 20 plants is a 5oz per plant average. Easy enough to achieve in a 10 gallon.

20 pots X 10 each = 200 gallons of soil mix

200 gallons = 1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet.

:circle-of-love:

EDIT: And Red.... get you a packet of Cytoplus. Apply it for 3 weeks (1 week before and 2 weeks into flower) along with P and K boosts. It will help them stack those buds and make them long. Then feed high P and higher K for weeks 3-6 or 7 to get them to swell.

I am leaning toward fabric pots so I don't have to worry about roots cooking. Also thinking of using wicking vs top watering. For the potted plants will I also prepare the pots in February for an April/May planting?
How long can I reasonably grow in the solo cups before the plants need to be transplanted? Just trying to figure when I should start germination.

Top of the day to ya Lilred, with the solo's....a month is max with them. I always plan on my lil ones being in them for four weeks from seed, by then they're cryin for more light and more soil. Cheers Lilred, have an awesome Sunday would ya!:high-five:

Yeah, what duggan said, a month max. It depends on the rate of growth. I've out grown them in 2 weeks before. Watch the roots. When you see them starting to bunch and wrap, it's time to move them up.

I do prefer the fabrics. I am liking having them in the big dishes. You can wick and when you top feed, run off is not wasted, as it just wicks back up. I've water/feed to run off. Then once in a while, if no rain, give them a good soak.

For 10 gallon pots....you will want to wait until early July (at the earliest) to transplant into the 10's. Otherwise they will root bind, out grow the pots and they will be unhappy. I think solo cup to 1 gallon. Do first topping in the solos. Then up them to 1 gallon and continue training. Then up into the 10's for root setting, late veg stretch and flower/finish. 2-2.5 months veg/training before transplant to the finish pots.

I use a 2 wheel cart like this to move my potted plants on and off my trailer and decks. On sale I've seen them as cheap as $25. Craig's list or rummage sales you can find the, cheaper. I welded an extension on the platform but bolting on a piece of plywood works too. I have a really bad back and I can move 25 gallon pots alone.
