Week 4 Friday

The PK has overtaken the ck, well done old chap.

Both plants are shading themselves considerably. But healthy enough.
I'm just weaving them a bit no LST yet...

I've uped the feed on the PK since is growing well. CK stays on 8cf

I am slowly starting to try LST but I am hesitant. I'm finding it hard to plan, not knowing the way of which the plant will grow.
I've started to press harder on the stalks forcing the higher stalks lower. Tomorrow I will see the effect and probably conclude that I need to read more.

I'm liking that the roots, stalk and new growth are growing well. The CK I expect is droupping because of my mysterious solution temperature. I've ordered a nutrient thermometer but now I realise it from halfway around the world......

On a plus I've set up my intake directly from out side allowing me to be able to regulate temp/RH better.

An hour or so after beating up the plants.

Hesitant ? Hard to plan ? Which way ? Pressing ?

Man... just tie some branches to the nearest border, let some light hit every possible part, and the middle of the plant.
Continue to direct every branch towards the exterior.

Another option is to suspend some weight on specific stems...

When I say hard to plan, I mean I'm not sure what direction will be benifical.
From what I've read, it's keeping the top sites low letting the rest to catch up.

I really like the weight Idea! Will just the weight of a peg work? I'm going to do some playing around tomorrow night.

From what I've read, it's keeping the top sites low letting the rest to catch up.

Several reasons for LST...
- Letting more light in where there wouldn't be any if left alone; Exposing more parts, getting more tops.
- Many plants exhibit what’s known as apical dominance. One shoot becomes the "leader," or tallest stem. Surrounding branches seem to magically defer to this leader, and remain less vigorous. The more you keep the tops low and equal, the more of the lower stuff will grow.
- Light penetration and intensity will be more equal on all parts of the plant.
- etc.

I forgot to mention I also have a seed of bubba's gift which I'll be interested to grow but not first time round as it's relatively low yeilding. But the effects are meant to be top notch.
I tyoically run bubbas gift and purlle kush. Dont discourqge yourself on yeild as i have been very fortunate. Also, if done correctly, the s.ells and tastes are like no other!!! One of my favorite strains by far!!!

Oops... Snapped the PK.
Too much bending not enough squeezing. After a couple of accidents i made a couple of successes.

I'll wait and hope for the branches to repair but they may need to go :(

This may add a week or two.

The less you know m

What squeezing ? OH ! You tried supercropping ?

You can TAPE a stem back in place and it'll grow normally.

When doing supercropping, you can massage the stem until the stem doesn't even hold itself, then support/hold it where you want. You shouldnt "snap" the stem.

When doing LST, 2 things you can do to reinforce a problematic stem before bending it...

Either pull in two different directions, keeping the part you want straight, OR put a piece of tape in the place you are afraid it could break.

Thanks blue.

I didn't realise super cropping and LST were different..

Yeah I've taped it. I think I should give them a break before I break them :/

LST = low stress training.

Supercropping is HST, a High-Stress training.

I recently started LST on my seedling :

This is when I supercropped a clone :

So.... those are completely different things.
Oh damn it, I've messed up

I don't have much in the way of anchor points for tying stems down. I'll have a scrog soon. I may use that to LST but I guess that will be called scroging. Untill then Ill let the plants recover and stay with tucking and weaving.

Many ways to anchor things.
The most common is with paper clips... like this :

Hedone_PK2.JPG

Some drill tiny holes in the cover and weave a wire, to witch they attach their lst strings.

And weighting branches with fishing weights is good too.

Personally, I would probably drill 4 holes in the corners, anchor some screws with washers and lock-nuts, and install a very small chain around the pot. Fastening and UN-fastening lst wires to a chain is quick and easy.

Oh ok. Unfortunately I don't own a drill but I'll think of an alternative.
I was thinking about using fishing weights but declined as they are too heavy and introduce lead to the environment.

Would the plant be ok having something so bulky attached to it?

For the direction. Am I aiming to force the top branches to grow horizontal.

I will search the tool box and the man draw for inspiration!

My end up with using door hooks and garden string

Thanks you ledge
