Did topping it cause problems?

Good morning, DeeBoy.

Please reference this post for why I won't be topping a Dark Devil again.

Been wanting to get Dark Devil seeds for awhile from Seedsupreme for awhile now. I made an order from a friend of mine for 900+ seeds that sells seeds for $1.00. He has over 100 different strains.
Going to purchase another 2000+ seeds soon, and stash them In a freezer! ^_^

Personally, I'd be very wary of growing seeds that only cost a dollar each.

Hey lady!
Had a bit of free time to catch up since it's raining again.

I wouldn't bother topping your DDA.
It's a strain that doesn't appear to be as stable as others.
I didn't do any type of training on mine whatsoever as I was afraid of stressing her.
I'm dropping a few for the next grow in about two weeks or so. Hoping for giant mutants but I'll probably SPOG™ them.
Dang! Now I'm nervous.

Hope you and FP are having a good weekend.

VG! How nice to see you. I was going to drop by your page today to say hi as I haven't seen you around much. :hugs:

What is SPOG™?

The weather has gotten cooler here and I'm having a lot of knee pain but other than that, life is grand.

Have you finished your outdoor work yet?

Growing 2 mainly indica 2 mainly saliva. Northern Lights, Big Bud, Amnesia and Green Crack (the runt).

A lot of people will be growing Amnesia soon. I'm also growing it as is @InTheShed and @BooWho2. :battingeyelashes:

Wow! You guys sure made my journal pop last night with all the topping talk. It is all very interesting, isn't it? All the different methods of training? There's always so much to learn about cannabis.

I hear ya. I feel like Octo is pretty non aggressive. It's just clipping 3 places around week 3 and a bit of bending and a few days maintenance. Otherwise the plant really does all the rest. I'm a fairly constant defol guy and just make sure especially in the first days of flower that everything can see the light. After that I do more tucking. Most of the bending I do is just to get tops at the same level early in it's life.
I rarely follow through with training til the end lol most of my wires are off or connected to nothing by now. Still I seem to make out ok on my yields...

i do active defol. it is a bit of art when combined with training. all of the plants i am active with produce better, but veg time is extended. harvests are piles easier too. even my lower stuff is chunky on the current run.

i'm ancient and have grown since the late 70's on and off. i still don't know a thimble fulls worth.

I've only been growing since 1991, just barely getting to know the plant myself ;)

I'm still a noob. Only three years under my growing belt.
Y'all make it look so easy.

What is SPOG™?
Single point of Green. It's a small plant that doesn't branch. Usually yields just enough to smoke.

Ha! Beat ya to it!! :woohoo:

Hey...what the?? We got a new guy?:bump: Bring. Up. My. Post??

Have you have cortisone shots before?
Sorry you're in pain,sweetie.
Have you finished your outdoor work yet?
No quite. I have to finish a few areas around the yard. I need some more mulch and grass seed. Still have some dirt to mix and some flowers to plant.
I have a solid weeks worth of work to do yet.
Should be cute when I'm done.

i caught my cousins at it when i was 13. where i come from i'd already been smoking by then.
it wasn't a huge leap, so they just taught me.

we did it on tomato nutes and home potting soil real crude by today's tech. when the first hydro shops opened in the late 70's early 80's the whole industry advanced light years.

They are extrmeley sturdy genetics. All my plants have been healthy, and amazing grows. He has plenty of seeds, (Over 50,000) (Reason for the price of being only $1.00).

Well, I've only been growing for a year and already feel a little overwhelmed especially when my body isn't cooperating. I was planning on transplanting all my GSCs this morning but my knee is too sore so I'm currently catching up here with an ice pack on it and hope to get back to the garden to at least water the plants that need it, if nothing else.

Sounds like a DDA. :laughtwo:

Ha! Beat ya to it!! :woohoo:

Cool! I don't know what its purpose is either. :hmmmm:

Have you have cortisone shots before?
Sorry you're in pain,sweetie.

No, I haven't but I have a phone appointment with my GP next week to review the results from the x-rays of my knees.

I finally caved and called him a few weeks ago because my knee wasn't getting better no matter how much I rested it and he sent me for x-rays. A few days later, I get a call from the doctor's office. They left a message that said, "Yep, you have severe osteoarthritis in both knees and it's definitely much worse in the left knee." And, that was all they said. Hello? I know that I have severe arthritis in both knees and that my left knee was worse. I was expecting a solution not a confirmation. So, yeah, I'm going to talk to him next week. Elective surgeries apparently are backlogged due to Covid by about 4 to 5 years so I'm going to suggest cortisone shots for the short term and ask him to put me on a list for knee replacement surgery whenever that will be.

I'm not overly thrilled with the idea of surgery since I've never been hospitalized in my entire life other than when I was born but I know a lot of people who have had the surgery and they all say it's definitely worth it.

How much land do you have? My dad has 5 acres and spends hours every day tending his gardens.

Should be cute when I'm done.

I hope you post some photos of it all when it's done. I'd love to see what you've done.

Okay, here are the photos. The Dark Devils were planted on March 20 and are currently 35 days old. DDA1 was LSTed and DDA2 was topped and LSTed. If you want to see their previous photos, please check out my previous grow journal - HashGirl Grows Alpine Star CBD, Carnival, Dark Devil & Raspberry Cough. Pistils started on DDA2 on April 14 and no further LST was performed on her. Pistils started on DDA1 on April 21 and no further LST has been done.

Thanks for stopping by.
I love how the Dark Purple shows up on the buds. Main reason I was wanting to grow Dark Devil to begin with. Imagine using that Purpinator with Dark Devil The color would look so amazing.

I hope your knee gets better soon so you can get back to your plants!

Not me. I don't have any Amnesia's in my future plans.
What is SPOG™?
SPOG® is word I came up with in 2017 and stands for Single Point of Green. It's what happens when an auto goes into flower before it has any real side branching and ends up like a tiny spear. Like this.

I wrote a poem about it at the time:

Not a sog nor a scrog,
What I have is a spog.
A spog is not two, never three, never four.
A spog is just one and can't be any more.
Just one point of green like a lonely old frog.
Just one single cola, my frosty-triched spog.

Nice song @InTheShed! I had a SPOG awhile back from an Autoflower. Gave me about 14 grams. Had to cut It down early due to It being late September.

I hope your knee gets better soon so you can get back to your plants!

Thanks, Shed.

:hmmmm: Wonder who it was then? @Carcass ? @Grand Daddy Black? I'm sure there was at least one male who was going to grow it, too. Oh! Maybe it's @BigD13?

I'm very impressed that you wrote a song dedicated to Dark Devil Autos. :cheesygrinsmiley:

:hmmmm: Wonder who it was then?
I'm the culprit...she's 9 days old today-only about 1.25 inches tall, but her roots are
already out the bottom of the cup, she'll be moving to a bigger place tomorrow..

I'm only following Shed's, Carcass', Stone's, dynamo's and Professor Flora's regular grow journals (not GSC) along with Boo and VG so the list was short of who the Amnesia culprit was.

But Shed's thread has so many other growers posting there, it was possibly where I read it, too. Glad it was an easy answer.

Is there an example in pics here showing the up potting? I started mine in too small pots and will need to go up, but I not sure of the best way.

Hello DeeBoy and :welcome: to 420 Magazine. I transplanted a Carnival from a Solo cup to a 1-gallon pot recently. I'm still pretty new at this but here's the post that shows what I did, for what it's worth:

HashGirl's Summer 2021 Recreational Grow

The method I use, I learned from @InTheShed. Hope it helps. Here is another helpful link about transplanting that you may find helpful:
