HashGirl's First Indoor Grow: Dark Devil Autos In Hempy, 2020

I up-pot and then put finger over the hole and add fert solution to slightly raise the perlite, and let it soak for a few.

18/6 to 24/0 will work for autos. The height will depend on your light, but 24-28” should be safe. Start higher and lower gradually (or let plants grow up towards it).

Feed plants every time you water them. This isn't soil. They find perlite to be exactly as nutritious as you would.

EDIT: It's not a bad idea in general, regardless of what a plant is growing in - assuming that any "starter nutrients" or inherent nutritional qualities in soil have been used up already. I mentally shake my head whenever I read about someone doing a "water - water - feed" routine on a soil-grown plant and then telling us how it must be great, because the plant "takes off with a growth spurt" on feeding day. Yeah... that happened because it had nothing to eat on the preceding days. Those doing the "living soil" thing, or who spike their media with some kind of time-release nutrient follow different rules, of course.

I didn't do the transplanting today. It just felt like too much effort. I'll do it tomorrow. The only plans for tomorrow at this point is a hike, a nap and dinner from a restaurant for my birthday dinner. I just need to decide where.

Today, we moved the loveseat from the Great Room to the TV room and the drum set to the Great Room from the TV room. And, I had a nap. :battingeyelashes:

Does anyone have any suggestions of any threads here on 420 to help new coco growers? Felonious is planning on growing in coco this summer.

Maybe look through this old journal of mine.

Maybe look through this old journal of mine.

Thank you, Penny. I did mention to Felonious that one of your grows was in coco but that I didn't think you were growing in coco now and he wanted to know why?

:thanks: hook! The cake is lovely.

Today was transplant day and the good news is that I didn't kill them (I hope). DDA1 gave me a little difficulty getting it out of the solo cup and into the 5L pot so I packed some perlite around its base as I wasn't sure it had been planted deep enough. Here are the instructions that I received from Sue:

* Prepare your finish pot, soaking the entire thing in 1/4-strength nutrient water. You can tape off the hole to keep the water in for a couple minutes then let it drain out to the reservoir depth.

* Make a small hole in the center to drop the seedling into.

* Hold your finger over the drain hole of the germination cup to keep the water from running out.

* Fill the cup with water. The perlite will float on the surface.

* Gently wiggle the seedling loose. By now there will be perlite attached to the rootless. Don’t knock anything off, just slip it from the cup into the pot with as little disruption as possible. (this was where I had some trouble with DDA1)

Here are the photos from today's excursion:

For this one, why is the perlite green?

And, there you have it. pH was 5.5. They will be in a tent that is running 18 hours with the lights on and 6 when they're off.

If someone could please let me know how often should I fertigate them? Thanks in advance.

Great job HG! :thumb::bravo:

Get a feel for the weight of the pot with a full reservoir, then lift daily as it gets lighter, so that you can get a feel for when the reservoir is low/empty. To start, I would fertigate no less than every 4-5 days. Fresh air is important, even if the little sprouts aren’t drinking much at first.

Thanks, Felipe. So, you're essentially saying when it starts to feel light that's when to fertigate but if I can't tell, fertigate at least every 4 or 5 days?

That’s right. Myself, I fertigate every day until I can tell that they’ve found the reservoir. Then I back off to every 2 days. I will stretch it out if I get busy/forget, but that’s the beauty of hempy over just a DTW coco grow.
