Growing A Legend: An Auto Tribute To Jack Herer

Well, I don't want to poo poo on anyone's seed choices or anything like that so I hope that's not how I'm coming off asking about the lineage.

It's just not all Jack is created equally. I personally haven't grown any, but I have heard other growers so they get quite different from one breeder to the next. I'm not even sure which breeder's Jack I've smoked, but if I had to venture a guess I'd say it was the original Sensi seeds' with the way the recreational farms like to throw money at their grows here. That's not to say Sensi's is the best, because again I have no idea. Probably why it will be hard to figure out the lineage too, since I think a lot of breeders try to keep their Jack recipe a secret.

In any case when you get good Jack Herer, it's amazing smoke. I have had bad Jack Herer though.
For sure they're all gonna have some variations. Even within the same cell pack. ...thats all good, were here to help each other overcome issues.

U.S.

I don't know for sure, but I think it may have got root bound, or it was from getting too cool. I noticed some russet mites early on too, and I dropped my temperatures down to 50 F. The russets did some damage I'm sure, but I think most of it was from being in too small of pots and the temperature being too low. The other ones have bounced back but this one is still pretty dwarfed, so it probably had some transplant shock or something. I have 4 other cuts of the Panama x Malawi though, and to be honest this Panama x Malawi #1 that it is wasn't my favorite cut anyway so oh well.

Matter of fact I have 2x of every cut I have right now, and I had planned to make feminized seeds of everything with colloidal silver. So If I replace that with a Jack Herer auto, then I might just make some feminized Panama x Malawi x Jack Herer auto seeds. Maybe some feminized Platinum Girl Scout Cookies x Cherry OG x Jack Herer auto too.

I do know I've always loved Jack Herer. Anyone know the lineage of the auto version? Looking up the good old photoperiod strain and it seems pretty skunky.
I have some stunted ones now too. I think it was the cold that did it because i insulated my growing room and things are back to normal.

The true genetics are kind of shrouded in mystery but the 'experts' suggest its Haze x Northern Lights #5. Sensi Seeds was the original, but I have heard good things about Greenhouse, Nirvana and one or two other breeders. At some point, I will pick up 10 or 20 of the original Sensi Seeds version and grow them out for a potential Male and Female for breeding them out

Screw that.....competitions on. Fly, we gotta bring the Herer cup to Canada brother!

I really doubt I'm going to win any prizes for production. But i can pretend to try.
Nawww......its about perfection of technique amongst friends. How to increase my humidity without having to plug anything else in....... That's what I'm working on.

I ran into some problems with my Jack Herer from Greenhouse. They were supposed to be only feminized but 2 of the 5 auto flowered. Not sure if there Auto Jack Herer would have the same problems. That could effect the challenge if a photo period showed up in the Auto's.

Just out of curiosity what medium is everyone else going to be growing their Jack Herer in? I will be in my Stank Soil.

I was originally thinking a DWC bucket, just not sure I can leave her alone though. So I'm thinking an amended Promix will be my choice. I'll leave an opening for Scrog....just in case.
