Growing A Legend: An Auto Tribute To Jack Herer

What a weird coincidence, I just went hiking with the gf and we were going off trail, she found a bunch of water hemlock she wanted to pull up so no one's horse came and ate it or anything. Nature reserve though, so gotta leave what's deadly there.

Hey guys so I finally figured out how to work around the 20 MB file size. Transcoded this video with x264 before uploading. How's it look fellas? (The video, not my leafclutter)

Hey cool, we can post videos now.

I definitely don't recommend knocking it over. I was just thinking that since they do best under 20/4 or 24/0, and you're giving them 11/13, all the penetration in the world won't make up for the lost light, but closer would be the best possible compensation if it were possible.

But an experiment is an experiment and tipped over plants suck! Carry on as planned :).

Yeah it's aggravating and if I had set things up a little better it wouldn't really be a problem. It's hard to explain... Maybe I'll just make another video of it later when the lights come on. But it's basically because of the scrog net, and the way I handle run-off, I can't move the pots around to make enough room, and I have to squeeze in and around the plants to get the defoliating done. I just know there wouldn't be enough room with the AJH propped up, and I can't change the run-off tray situation now that my plants are locked into the scrog.

So yeah kind of shot myself in the foot and just trying to make lemonade

I was just thinking stick a paint can under it or something!

Yeah just don't be surprised if it's hard to deal with the file size limit. That 40 second video was like 60 MB before I encoded it. So unless you know how to use a video encoder or just want to post super short videos, you might not be able to make much use of it.

On the other hand we can post embedded videos of stuff hosted on YouTube and other services now.

How To Post/Embed Videos
I was just thinking stick a paint can under it or something!

Well that would be the main support, but I'm just saying to make it "tip proof", I could tie some little ropes up to it so that if it got knocked it wouldn't really fall. But yeah seems like a lot of extra complications.

Jack Herer Auto Day 49

Quick update on my Jack auto. Keeps getting bigger and now the buds are starting to form.

yeah I don't post anything cannabis related on Youtube. Not ready to take that step. It will be short videos for me!

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. Maybe they'll make a guide on how to encode videos for other users. If you check out a program called HandBrake, you can use the x264 codec and figure out the bitrate to compress your videos down to 20 MB before uploading.

It's not terribly complex, you just need to know your maximum file size in bits. 20 MB comes out to 163840 bits (20 * 1024 * 8 to convert from megabyte, to kilobyte, to bit).

163840 / VideoDuration (in seconds) * .9 = 90% of Max Bitrate

You wanna keep 10% or so available for the audio and metadata. In that way you can squeeze any video down to 20 MB, though once you get them too long the video quality will suffer.

You're on 49? I must have miscounted my last update. I thought you were a day ahead of me, and I thought I was at 52...

Amazing I can figure out video compression, but can't count days on a calendar.

52 from when the seed went in the dirt.....I don't start counting til it breaks the soil. Mine broke on the 15th......so 49 days for me.

Completely different skill sets. Don't sweat it Fert!

If I could only trade half my "skills" for basic common sense, then I'd really be cherry :p

Oh I see what happened. I flipped my T5 girls to 11/13th on the 12th and forgot that the JHA didn't break free until the 17th. So I think that would mean mine is 2 days behind yours, give or take haha

This video feature is going to be SO useful. So this is what I've been calling "Assisted Watering". Maybe "semi-automatic" watering would be more appropriate, but I feel like that just sounds too... Well, I don't know. Technical?

I've been running it on a timer lately, but when they're still kind of young and their watering needs are inconsistent, this is basically just like doing a wet/dry cycle with hand-watering except all you have to do is press a button and turn valves.

Voice over would help a lot of the time. Even MadDab now is willing to share his mellifluous pipes with us!
Idk I hate The sound of my voice... but thanks bud. I think I'm almost ready to go sweet Susan and just come all the way out. Lol. I just keep it DL for the wife. And she just told me the other day she could care less since I'm not breaking any laws. Makes sense. Idk it's hard when you go your entire life being passionate about something that's been misrepresented. Then one day you realize you don't have to hide it... but it still feels weird to be open about it I guess.

I was chatting with a buddy (active duty) and he's like how do you feel about being a cannabis user and so tightly connected to the military. I paused, then told him how so many of the Great people I've here that are retired military, and that for active duty it may be taboo, but for many retired military and vets, it's a god send. And that there is a disconnect, but there w ont be much longer. I doubt they'll ever let active duty members smoke, but I think the attitude will change once more and more respected members of the military community admit that it can help with a lot of different physical and mental health issues our troops may encounter while serving.

Sorry got a little off topic from voices, but that can count as my rant for today :p

Always.....you know me too well. I gotta find someone to take care of my plants so that I can get back to the forum lol.

Hurry up and harvest those JHas so that i can participate already lol.

Hey, @Jackalope offered seeds up too for any upcoming challenges, he explained so nobody is out of pocket on seeds....awesome offer and another great idea for a challenge.

Seeing how Guy is chomping at the bit to start his new ones. I will let you guys choose which. Critical or Blue Dream. The delve in me wants to pick a new strain then send the Canadian guys hemp seeds LMAO.
