Grow #2: Outdoor/CFL Auto 420 Blueberry & AK-47 Smart Pots With Dr Earth Soil

Looks like you had some thrip damage, they may come back, if you can get ahold of any spinosad products, that's the ticket for them. You can do a root drench with it as well and it won't hurt your plants at all.
Other than that, things look real good .

Thanks Suntan, and glad to have you back and feeling better!

I've been spraying every couple of days with 50% diluted neem oil while they're young. I'll go to full strength once they get a bit bigger. I may switch to spinosad for flowering if everyone thinks that's ok. I have a bit of a non-cannabis-specific spider mite issue in my garden.

Good thing about spinosad is it does not turn your flower hairs red/brown, neem will. Spinosad also works real well on mites of any species.

What's the half life on the spinosad? I see a lot of people shy away from it in flower (past mid way)

What happens to spinosad in the environment?

Spinosad is broken down rapidly by sunlight. In the presence of sunlight, half-lives on leaves are 2 to 16 days and less than one day in water. When applied to leaves, some spinosad can be absorbed. However, it does not readily spread from leaves to the rest of the plant. In the absence of sunlight, spinosad breaks down very slowly in water. Half-lives of more than 30 days to 259 days have been reported. However, it binds rapidly to sediment. The halflife in sediment, where no oxygen is available, ranges from 161 to 250 days.

Spinosad also sticks to soil and has a very low potential to move through soil towards ground water. In field studies, no break down products of spinosad were found below a soil depth of two feet. In the top layers of soil, spinosad is rapidly broken down by microbes. Soil half-lives of 9 to 17 days have been reported. After it is applied, spinosad is not likely to become airborne.

So you can stop spraying a 2-16 days before harvest and you should be ok, outside anyway. I don't think any thrips or mites would have a negative effect on the grow starting from scratch in 16 days.

And washing should help as well - with everything!

No pics today, sorry! Day 21 and everyone was REALLY thirsty this morning. I went with 2 tbs of BigBloom and 3/4 tsp GrowBig so I'll start keeping an eye on the tips to see how they handle the GrowBig increase. I want to get to a good number and leave it there for veg so I don't have to keep adjusting every time I water.

PPM in was ~430 (including ~100 for the water). Out on Blue 3 was 690 PPM and for both AK's was ~550 PPM. No more foam for what it's worth.

I managed to do a bit more flattening of the stems, but still not enough growth to make that first turn! Maybe the grey skies will create a bit of stretch :)

Also, sprayed with the diluted neem this morning, but at this size it's tough to get the undersides of the leaves.

Thursday greetings all! Day 22 and AK 4 is racing ahead. I replaced the tie-down on Blue 3 and I wonder if I'll see copper excess! And Blue 3 is definitely running much slower than my last grow. Here are the pics...

Also, I ordered some Great White Mycorrhizae (thanks to Waffle for the recommendation!)

Hell yeah!! You will notice the difference.
Don't be surprised if they end up drinking and eating more this run!!

Day 23 and Friday to boot! Sill overcast skies here these days but I guess that's good for stretch ;). Here they all are, a bit wet from the diluted neem oil this morning. AK 4 looks like it had a week head start even though these are all within 24 hours of each other.

Great White Mycorrhizae arrives on Monday. I did add Mykos to the soil when I mixed it up. Does that change when I start the Great White or should I just add it to the next watering?

Man oh man! That AK is a whole node set further along!! Nice!!

It does change when to add it!
So just go by the date you first watered with the mykos; 2-3 weeks after that is when you should repopulate them. And then stick to that 2-3 week schedule.

I'm a noobie and experimenting with bending and wonder if I've gone to far with this gal. I could use advise on what the next steps are for her...

Hey Thunder, welcome aboard! I don't think you've gone too far at all here. The only thing I can tell from your pic is that you're pulling pretty hard to the edge of the pot so you'll have a hard time changing direction, which it is time to do. I'd take a wire and stick it in the soil to hold down the existing growth and then start to train her around the edge of the pot.

If you can post an overhead shot that would be helpful. Also, start a journal so we can follow your grow and help you along the way!

Since the mykos was blended with the soil (and only has an effect when it's touched by the roots - of which there probably aren't that many yet), I'm not sure if that mykos has made any difference. Does the Great White do anything if it doesn't touch roots?
All of those little microbeasties have a purpose, to create a rhizosphere. Yes they help even if roots are not there. Things like making micro nutrients bioavailable to the plant. They will die off eventually though.
the roots are a big part of their ecosystem, so that's why you repopulate them.

It ends up being a symbiotic relationship

Then first water after Monday it is!
