Greenlizard Still Growing, Fresh Clones, CMH, 4X8, Multiple Methods Tested

Greenlizard, you grow is looking amazing man. Happy and healthy plants, it's gonna be a good haul for sure. Great looking butter! :high-five:

I havn't got a pic of the clones right now but here are a few shots of the flowering plants that I took a couple days ago. I will have a full update this weekend.

One thing I will be showing this weekend in my journal is how most of my Purple Kush clones went into flower after being cut. I put them under 18/6 from the day they were cut but they continued to go into flower. They are now in that ugly stage of re-vegging. I took these clones about 5 days after switching to 12/12 because I had heard a few people on here saying that the best time to take clones is a week or 10 days into 12/12. I will tell you this... No. Don't do that lol. I'm glad I didn't wait that long or it would be an even longer turn around and all my clones would have been effected.
As the title of the journal describes "multiple methods tested". This method was not productive and has set half of my clones back quite a bit compared to some that were not effected. Perhaps the clones taken lower on the plant were less likely to continue into flower? Regardless I will never take clones after switching to 12/12 again. Luckily I have plenty of clones that didn't do this for my next grow. I took extra clones for friends that will have to wait. I never let a clone leave my house unless it looks excellent due to pride lol.

I pulled from the final trim before flip. Usually get your biggest, healthiest IMO.

An irrigation system I made for them.

Makes life easier doesn't it. Crawling around watering with a cup is a pain in the ass, and the back. Irrigation is the way to go.

By far my biggest helper... it’s a must have.

That's what I have done in the past as well but I have heard so much about cloning into early flower that I wanted to try it. Back to taking my clones the day before switching to 12/12.

Hey brother! :passitleft:
Those girls in bloom are looking incredibly happy and healthy. Great looking flowers!
If i open my tents and my plants are praying to the light like that... not much can put a bigger smile on my face.

Day 37 of 12/12.
The big girls are doing well. Trainwreck is frosting up nicely. I did some plucking of big fan leaves that were causing shadows. Just did a feeding till runoff. I always feed and water till runoff.

The clones are doing fine. I topped them all just above the 4th node last night. They were twice that tall. They were fed 1/4 strength nutes last night. I should have topped them a few days ago but... oh well. :ganjamon:

looking fine Greenlizard,
that stem looks sturdy and no sign of being soft from overwatering at soil level. i see you've removed most of the growth along the lowest branches. do you allow any of the nodal growth along branches or remove all growth at nodes along branches? when did you remove this growth? (before flowering began, or after?)

Hey man.
Thanks. I have watering spikes that kind of "inject" the water into the medium without flooding the surface. Seems to work well. I removed all lower growth while still in veg. Once they were over a foot tall I started to "lollipop" them like that. Nothing worth growing below the half way margin in my opinion. After selecting the best nodes I pruned all the others. Basically I only left every 4th node to grow up and spaced them apart best I could. In my past grows I found things were just too bushy and light wasn't getting down beyond 6" of the canopy. Even defoliating wasn't cutting it and I have since leaned away from defoliating other than to open up the canopy to allow better bud development. I believe the more leaves we can have on our plants the better but having them shadow buds is counter productive.
As per "when" did I remove this growth... Well that has been a constant chore. Through veg I would select a few nodes for removal and keep stretching out my main colas. About a week before switching to 12/12 I pruned all nodes off from the main branches all the way to the top almost. I left the tops of course and about 3 small nodes down. Once they recovered and switched to 12/12 there was enough growth, and stretch to give me what you see in the photos. I have been enjoying this method of training and pruning so far and from what I can see it's going to pay off.
Each grow I like to try a couple different things to see if they work for me. Keeps it interesting.

beauty, thanks for the response. i've read that it is best to avoid the pruning or removal of branches during the early stages of flowering which is where i'd classify my ladies. i'm of 2 minds...just buck the small whispy looking branches now and avoid wasting the plant's photosynthates into any flower production on these branches (because it would be minimal at best) or just let the ladies go buck wild and let the THC fall where it may...even if i ended up with 2 ounces of shrapnel, it would still make for some baking/edible opportunities. seems like most experienced growers here choose to start manicuring the ladies well ahead of where i am now which makes this whole situation avoidable. i think i'll take a close look tonight at all the growth and make some choices on where to lean out. i've heard other say they leave the top 3 or 4 nodes of each branch and remove all else. decisions, decisions...

I removed everything except for the last 3 or 4 nodes on the tops of each branch about one week before flower.
Prior to that I selected what branches I wanted to keep and what ones I wanted to prune away throughout the veg.
I wouldn't get cutting too much now that your in flower. The bottom larf maybe but I would be cautious.
