Green Mountain Girl's 1st Grow

Sad morning in the garden y’all.... the girls all are okay except for one maybe casualty.

While I was checking my two un- watered girls I was bending a few NLA over to give their lower branches some light for the day ... one of my largest took to breaking. I quickly ran and taped her back together with some electric tape to try and keep her together. I also grabbed a stake of bamboo and gave her some help ... but she may not make it....

I cried. I’m emotional like that and I destroyed a beautiful growing plant.

I dont think I’m going to touch any of them for the rest of this grow... I am now triggered. For real.

Sad day. :(
I hate it when that happens and hate it even more when its my fault. If it helps, you are not alone... most of us have done that at one point or another.

Hello fellow gardeners!

Just a quick update. Everything seems to be going well after the Ph mishap. No one seems to be belly aching and all seems to be growing to I have to be like the luckiest person ever.

Even the girls that I accidentally damaged seem to be growing steady and strong.

I’ve attached some pictures I took this morning of the group. I hope everyone is doing well and that your gardens are plentiful!

Happy Friday all!
Day 31 for these Northern Light autos and 2 of the crowns I have in the tent and Day 42 for the “lone survivor” .

Watering day for the NLA girls. They were wicked dry and ready for some love. In my previous post I had some issues with my Ph and that has been sorted out ( found out the node to my pen was shattered) so now with a properly working Ph pen I feed these girls only cal-mag in this cycle. ( water Ph’d at 6.5)

As well as getting watered I did a good look over of the plants and made sure to note any discoloring or anything that stood out to me. Luckily they all look really good and healthy! I went ahead and defoiliated some of the really tiny leaves at the very bottom of the plants and notice that on my largest NLA some little pistils starting to form. So excited!

I’ve attached some pictures of the garden and an up close shot of the pistils on the big girl!

As always happy gardening to you all and since I won’t be back till after the holidays ... from my family to yours, have a happy and safe holiday season!

Merry day after Christmas and happy gardening to you all!

Watered the back row of CR today! They were dry dry and very happy for the fluids.
We are on day 44 for the one survivor from my first go around and day 36 for the other two and it looks like one of the younger girls is already outgrowing my older one.

The NLA are all looking happy and healthy and are about ready for another watering but I’m going to wait another 24 hours since they don’t seem to be showing me that they are thirsty but their pots are very light so I’m keeping my eye on them.

I hope everyone has been well! As always I’ve attached my updates pictures of the garden :)

Happy gardening to all!

This morning was the NLA turn to get some hydration love! I am happy with the way they are coming along despite what started to seem like my best efforts to kill them hahaha. Thank god these mistakes haven’t cost me my second crop.
( cal-mag only water phd to 6.3)
Can’t wait to see how these girls change over the next 30-40 days!

Over the weekend I plan on getting my 5x5 flowering tent and lights ( 1-1200w led and 1-2000w led) set up and the NLA girls will get pulled over. They will stay with their 18-6 light schedule but they will have all the light and room to get as big and beauitful as they can.

Attached is this morning photos of them!

Hmm... After checking on the girls tonight I noticed some symptoms and I’m not sure exactly what yet. Could be the issues from the previous Ph issues I had now showing their ugly head or maybe something like chlorine or a deficientcy.

There are 3 of the 5 NLA’s that look like they are going into flower and their leaves look a bit droopy. But maybe I’m being paranoid and they are fine. But I see some bright pink stems on some of one plant.

There’s also one of my Crowns that I spotted some fan leave discoloration on. Otherwise the plant looks fine but two of it’s leaves are yellowing in the center .

I hope that I’m not overwatering. They have been taking about a week for the last three weeks to drain their pots. I water till just run off each time and don’t measure I just go by that standard.

looks like the one with the spots is starting to get magnesium hungry. Calmag+ either store bought or homemade is necessary in most of our gardens. Other than that, they look great! Just keep waiting for them to drain the containers... thats why the droop... some of those roots have been under water for a long time and are starting to shut down. Each wet/dry cycle this situation will improve and the time between waterings will shorten.

Going strong into weeks 7-8 for these girls.

Some drooping for one of the NLA that was flowering was spotted, so I checked her out and she was bone dry. Funny bc she’s one hungry girl. Her sisters as still very much holding onto water at the bottom of their pots still. I don’t see them draining their pots for another few days yet.

So booted out of the tent for a feeding she went this morning. She is so beautiful and strong. She smells amazing and is showing me some great potential bud sites that I am looking forward to watching over the next month. I gave her cal mag along with her fox farm trio. She got her first taste of some tiger bloom this time. I’m interested to see how she reacts.

The Crowns in the back are so gorgeous and I thought they looked like they could take some HsT. I carefully bent the tallest branches out to the sides away from the center and spread her as wide as I felt comfortable going. I’m not trying to snap anymore limbs this crop. I hope to see them flourish with all the light exposure.

I hope everyone has an amazing new year and that your gardens are even greeener in the new year! Cheers!

Welcome 2019!

I hope this new year brings us all healthu and hardy harvests!

Today was a watering day for two of my girls. One of the NLAs and one of the Crowns got her some too. I also did a thorough check up on the whole crop. I removed some fan leaves that were getting in the way of light getting into the canopy as well as much needed air circulation. I am happy to report that everyone looks good!

Almost all of the NLAs have started there journey into flowering except for the two smallest ones but I expected as much and am just happy they lived to this point.

I have three Crowns that are looking so good! I am shocked at how some training on two of them has just made them explode. I’ve left one of them pretty much alone to see the difference and it’s shocking.

I attached updated photos of the Crowns the first two are the plants I’ve topped and trained and the third has only been topped once and nothing else.

I hope everyone is starting their new year off well! Happy gardening to you all!

Hello gardeners and happy Tuesday to you all. A little update for the garden.

My 5x5 has been set up for the flowering girls and all of the northern light autos have been moved into their summer house. They all look happy except for two plants that seem to be showing some dificientcies. I had flushed them their last round of watering and I am thinking that they want some cal mag. I had flushed them for two reasons. One being that they started their transition to flowering and two I started noticing signs of this while they were in the veg tent but thought I had burned them with too much nutes.

The crown royals are enjoying their space to spread out in the veg tent and the love of both lights. I’ve noticed just a bit of the same discoloration on some of their leaves as I had the northern lights. After looking at hundreds of photos and charts I’m going to say this is a cal mag issue but if anyone thinks differently or has any other ideas as to what’s going on let me hear it. It’s sticking to just lower leaves and not reaching any of the upper canopy.

As always I’ve attached my updated photos of the garden. :)

Happy Friday gardeners!

Here’s a little garden update from me. I am in week 8 with almost all but one plant but now you couldn’t even tell that the “lone survivor” which is about a week and a half older than all the others is even that.

The 3 crowns have been vegging out very nicely in the 4x4. They have loved having all that space and light to theirselves and have shown in by growing huge. I really can’t believe how much larger they are than the northern lights. I am going to let them stay in there two more weeks and then I will kick them out and into the flower tent where the Northern Lights should be about to finish up.

The Northern lights are also loosing great. I have three that seem to stretch when they started to flower but two of the plants took longer to start their flowers and have staid pretty squat but seem to be pretty dense. I have a real strangely looking girl. I’m not sure if her buds will fill in or if she will stay pretty sparse.

I’m not sure if I’m on with my guessing of two more weeks I guess time will tell. They are getting very big and thirsty. They are emptying their pots about every 48-36 hours. I’m not sure when to start flushing them and to stop with their nutes. They are getting some every other watering. I’m still giving them cal mag with every watering.

I am ready to start cloning the crowns and also ready to start my last two northern light seeds with them. Any suggestions on the cloning but would be appreciated as o have never attempted to clone. I’m not sure even where to take the clipping from.

I plan on taking a bunch to see what takes and then keeping only the top three healthiest.

I hope everyone is having fun in their gardens and have a great weekend!

I am ready to start cloning the crowns and also ready to start my last two northern light seeds with them. Any suggestions on the cloning but would be appreciated as o have never attempted to clone. I’m not sure even where to take the clipping from.
Hi Angela. Your garden is really looking good.

Other than cloning the top after topping a plant, most people try to get the cuttings from the lower limbs. Do you have a technique in mind for rooting your first clones?

Hey there Master! Thanks for dropping in! I will be taking my clippings from the lower portion of the plants and then dipping into rooting hormone and then right into soil filled solo cups. I will then put them under a dome and into a propagater. I’m hoping for a few good results amongst the batch of 10-12 I take.

Sounds like a good plan. Here are a few tips that might help...

Clean cutting tool with alcohol before taking cuttings.
Cut the end of the stem at a 45º angle.
Use a razor blade or other sharp tool to "lightly" scrape the lower inch or so of the stem. (Only take a small amount of the outer layer off.)
Rinse the end of the stem in clean water before dipping in rooting hormone.
You will probably need some humidity domes until you see roots or new growth.

I like to plant in a clear solo cup and then put that cup inside of a colored cup. That makes it much easier to take a look at the roots.

Please let me know if I left anything out or if you have questions.

Hello all and I hope that your Sunday has found you rested and relaxed. Just jumping on the thread to post some Sunday pictures since the Northern Lights have hit their 60th day and are starting their 9th week. Wow, they are looking so good and I can’t believe I have almost sucesssfully brought my first plant to harvest!

I could be wrong but I think this girl has about a week maybe two left until she’s ready to be cut down. I’m keeping my eye on her and I don’t think I’m going to give her anymore nutes. I plan on just watering with cal mag as she continues to produce her sugars until I see those tricomes get more cloudy.

This will definitely be a spread out harvest with most of these plants looking like they are a week or more behind this one even though they were all planted at the same time.

Thank you everyone for all your help and continued support. All of the knowledge and wisdom being shared here with me is absolutely outstanding and I am so grateful to those that have shared and helped me along the way!

I will be cloning and starting seeds for my veg 4x4 tent since I am going to kick my crowns out and into the 5x5 next watering. So the next crop will get started and I can’t wait to see what I am going to learn along the way with this next group.

I will update in about a week as I take my clones and get my new seeds in soil and also completely clean and disinfect my 4x4 for the next round. Happy gardening to you all!

P.s. My next round is going to be a few stains. White widow fem from CKS, northern lights auto CKS , crown royal clones, a random seed from Jamaica sex unknown , and the last I’m going to leave up to you. What would you like to see me grow this next round ... California OG kush from CKS or Durban Poison from CKS?

Hello gardeners I hope this week has found everyone thriving.

Per my last entry I have started some new seeds in the 4x4 veg tent. 2 White Widow feminized by CKS , two northern light auto feminized by CKS , two random seeds out of a bag I had saved from Jamaica, and two Durban poison from CKS. I had also clipped some tops off my vegging crowns to clone but two days in and they look pretty sad and I am not certain I gave them enough of a stem to survive but I will keep and eye on them over the next two weeks. If I need to try again I have plenty of plant to take from.

Here’s the best shots I could get through my loop. I’m still figuring these things out. I have about a week left on two of the five NLA from CKS. The other three maybe another two weeks or more. But I could be wrong and can always use some opinions.

I am surprised that two of these girls lived to this point but also surprised by how small they are and how little they will yield at the end. I did mess with these auto a lot though and I believe that was my down fall.....

In the next batch I think I will leave them be. I don’t think I will tip the auto next round ... I’ve read so much and am on the fence about it but it seems to have stunted these ones so it’s worth the experiment to try and increase my yield next go around.

The crowns have way surpassed the northern lights and they are still in Veg so I can’t wait to see what they will do once I turn them to flower.

Anything I need to do with the Crowns before I flip them into flower?

Thanks to everyone that’s been helping me along the way!

Just a noob guess here, but I'd say those autos still have a ways to go. You want ~80% of the pistils to turn brown. The calyxes should start swelling up, and that will increase your yield. Look for the trichomes to go from clear to cloudy. When some start to turn amber, then start thinking about flushing.
