Green Knight Berry Bomb Hydro CFL - Experiment #1: Supercropped Defoliated ScROG

I suppose I should be happy I do not smoke cigs! I prefer a Bong as well but spliffs work well too. Honestly I just want to smoke some good cured weed! I have been smoking too much and not allowing my stuff to cure properly! Tastes like shit but does the trick. Good luck with leaving tobacco! Hang in there!

ISmokes- yeah, I always add tobacco - every time I've tried to smoke pure weed I find I cough a lot!

I do like a good bong I have to admit, and I know exactly what you mean about spiffs Jon, I'm definitely a spliff man. But that's part of the problem, I tend to smoke a lot of spiffs. I'm on a mission to stop smoking really so I thought I'd give vaping a go, but it is quite expensive to get a good one

Going to get a vap and nicotine lozenges, I think that might be my best circumstances to completely drop one of the weeds, so to speak:thumb:

Day 7 of 12/12. Strecth is becoming more noticeable and she's beginning to fill in the remaining screen. No sign of any flowers so she's still getting the Vega nutes to EC 1.5 with the Boost. The EC and pH over the last week has been pretty stable - over the first few days she drank a lot of water and the EC went up and the pH dropped so she needed daily top ups with water to bring the pH back up and the EC down. By the end of the week she'd settled down and the pH and EC have been pretty stable.

Swapped the light around again with the res change. This photo shows how uneven the light distribution is because of the bulb's position in the reflector. I tend to tilt the reflector a bit to improve the light distribution on the shaded side a bit. It's definitely another reason for an led - I think a completely flat, even, led footprint in this cupboard would work really well

I have the same cfl hood and bulb. The light location with respect to the hood makes me have to move shit around all the time. I feel like I lose some valuable space as we all know CFL's must be close. I could just be high and have no clue what I'm talking about! Anyway maybe a model that moves the socket outside of the hood. This way when I mix in my smaller CFLs I will not have to shift my plants around.

Especially with your grow. Not much room too offset the dead spot on the CFL ballast. Between the socket, bracket and ballast I lose 6 inches. Hurts when my tent floor is full.

Yeah, it's a pain in the neck! It'll do for this grow and the next but then I'm going led - I'll be able to have the light higher and get a more even spread. Rotating the light round is a risk every time too - the wire trails and the reflector is pretty much the dimensions of the cupboard so you have to let it go vertical to rotate it - it's just asking for something to get damaged once the plant's fully in bud!

But for the money and in a small space I won't knock them - they do a reasonable job and keep heat down so I can't complain really - I always knew a cfl wouldn't be perfect. You're spot on though - if they had better penetration and didn't need to be so close to the plant it would be much less of an issue because you'd get a better spread of light. Unfortunately at 2" from the top of the plant anything under the dead side of the hood is always going to be in shadow.

Looking good Knight!
And with a CFL no doubt!
Are you planning to supercrop those taller middle branches outwards to even the canopy?

Thanks Vick - I'm interested to see how the cfl does when she's flowering and the final result. It did ok on the auto I grew last, not perfect but I was happy enough with the result. I think the scrog will improve things but with the uneven light I think the sides will suffer, even with rotating the light weekly.

I was thinking about supercropping those tall ones when I was looking at them today. What would you recommend - just crop them down to the top of the screen so they lie on the rest of the canopy?

Maybe first see if you're able to pull them down and out (away) through a farther hole, without bending them.
It looks like you might be able to if you're careful, or able to lift the screen up a bit to help.
If it looks like there is no way, then just bend it at screen level, and lay it down aiming outwards.
They will grow back towards the light, leaving you with a way more even canopy.
I know how close CFL's have to be in order to be effective, So taller outers would be better than taller innards. Kind of like growing around the bulb.
Since you're already in stretch mode and have about another week left, I'd be training them as much as possible outwards. Cuz once stretch is over, that's pretty much it. You don't want to screw with them very much at all after that, so they can put everything they've got into producing flowers..

WOW ! i remember when she could barely touch the screen and she and the screen are one with each other, they grow up so fast ya know *tear*sniffle* lol i agree with vick on the scroggin' beautimus yob sir!!:thumb:

Ha ha, thanks bid - she's definitely starting to grow up.

I've taken Vick's advice and spread everything outwards so it's much more even. I think I've been being a bit too cautious since switching to 12/12, rather than viewing the stretch period as the last opportunity to get some more training in. I didn't really super crop - only a couple I had to and now she's in 12/12 I'm trying to keep that to a minimum. But I've spread her back out under the screen and will chuck up some more photos in the next day or two.

Cheers for the advice guys - much appreciated

Hey Knight,
Thanks for the reps brother.
You didn't have to do that!
:high-five:
