Graytail's Cupwinners in High Brix Soil - 4x4 - 600W HPS - Perpetual

LOL, PeeJay, I'm ... like ... blushing n stuff.

Thanks! Yer a mensch yerself - I like people whose ears perk up when they think they hear a fact - those are hard suckers to come by, unlike opinions, eh?

SABO, since you read all the way through Gray's journal I'll point out a couple of things relevant to your own grow and questions you asked in your thread.

You were asking how long to veg. Notice that Gray's plants are not huge bushes. He grows dense two footers that yield plentiful buds. Pay attention to how long he is veging and the grams per-day rubric for measuring yield. My recent Darkstar harvest was around .38 GPD no where near what he typically sees.

You've also asked some training questions. Note that Gray does not apply heavy bondage to his plants. That was a revelation for me. It's sort of fun to rope stuff down or SCRoG but I feel like LST (low stress training) is a misnomer. Topping a plant is way lower stress than than most of the "low stress training tecniques." Gray provides gentle guidance to make the plant go where he wants and encourages branching by topping. He also employs prudent, not drastic defoliation.

Just a couple of observations that you may want to make note of, SABO.

Hey, SABO, good to see you here! :welcome:

Heheh, it's probably been awhile since someone read through the whole thing - thank you. I did that for a couple dozen threads when I first got here - it gets tedious. :cheesygrinsmiley: But it saved me from fumbling around too much.

I have some fun harvests coming up! In fact, I think I'll chop JD4 tomorrow. Actually, harvest is a better term - gonna reveg it - gotta be gentle.

I've been reading journals for weeks now, finished yours a few days ago :) peejay is right your journal is one of my favorites

Thanks, Cannabiscures!

You're just in time for some harvest pics. This looks like close to 3oz - we'll know in a few days. Nice blue/purple coloration.

Thank PeeJay, believe it or not, I really got into this journal & have already used some of Graytail's techniques. I have lessened the use of LST. They do get tied down for 2 or 3 days, then I release them for 4 days, then they get tied down again. Also, I have topped them twice already, supercropped twice and lollipopped them last night. I took off 1/3 from the bottom of the plant to promote more growth on the top end. I think if I keep close to this journal so that I might be pleasantly surprised!

The Utopia Haze reveg didn't make it. It's been 16 days and nada, zip, no show here folks. She was just too old and tired by the time I chopped her - nothing left.

So I'll have to acquire more beans, and hope I didn't just get a freaky good pheno this time. I sure do like it. But anyway, it was time to recycle that soil so I took some pics. Here's some of the rootball. It's all microroots, tightly packed and form-molded to the inside shape of the pot.

With most of the soil shaken out:

And here's what I throw away. The rest goes back into the soil along with the fading fan leaves I pull, then I thoroughly turn the soil along with an amendment recharge. A week later, all plant matter is gone.

Now that JD4 is harvested and drying, it's on to WP1 and SLH Reveg. At this point it looks like SLH should go first. The last brix reading was 16/16 so now is probably as good a time as any. JD4 should be dry enough to jar by Wednesday, so I'll have room then to hang the SLH Reveg. Here she is today, still trying but gettin' tired - starting to get some color - haven't seen that before.

WP1 is a husky girl. :cheesygrinsmiley: I think she weighs a lot more than I thought she did. These are probably the hardest densest nugs I've grown so far. I had this one scheduled to harvest this coming weekend, but I want get SLH done first and WP1 can take a few more days if necessary - soon though.

Pana1 is looking good. She's fading earlier than her mother did, so I'll have to keep an eye on that, but she's bigger and seems to have her second wind, busy doing the bud-building thing. The more I smoke this, the more I like it. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Carnival is really looking fine! This and Cotton Candy are going to be bigger plants than I usually run. I got some stretch this time. These went into flower a couple inches taller than usual. Carnival has shown the most vigor of the three and continues to do so.

Cotton Candy still displays this limp habit. This time I can blame it on dry soil, but even when it perks up it's saggy compared to Carnival. But it's growing just fine, and set pistils a few days ago.

Grapefruit is better but still no shine and not much vigor. C'mon girl, you can do it.

Hmmm, forgot to get pictures of Grapefruit ...:tokin:

WP2 is getting ready to replace her mother in a few weeks.
