Graytail's Cupwinners in High Brix Soil - 4x4 - 600W HPS - Perpetual

THE REPS ARE RIGHT returns this Sunday with it's long awaited 4th episode! Look below in my SIGNATURE for details. Be there or be square...

Thanks everyone for the compliments and Christmas wishes!

Today I had all the girls out for pictures and brix tests, and everything looks especially nice - the best group of plants I've grown so far.

I was going to chop White Panther today, but it looks like it wants to make some more calyxes so I'm going to just watch it for a few days. It has some cloudy and amber trichs, but they haven't been turning very rapidly, so I think I have a little more time. This one got Cat drench 18 days ago. In the future, I'm going to give that a week earlier - at least three weeks before chop.

These next two strains are developing much more rapidly than i thought they would. The Wild Thai may be done already - no new pistils and the rest are all browning, or it may just be shock from the Cat drench. Panama rested last week and then started puffing up her calyxes this week. I had Thai scheduled to finish in 3 weeks and Panama in 4, but now I don't know what to think. It's been 40 days since they set pistils.

Tangerine Dream was boring this week - nothing to report except she can barely hold her stalks up now. That's going to be annoying.

I'm starting to like Utopia Haze. It's a weird spindly thing with hardly any leaves, and it's not going to produce much, but the nugs it's growing look like they'll be dense and covered in trichs. We'll see. I like having the experience. This is an unusual one. :cheesygrinsmiley:

SLH Reveg is progressing pretty much like I hoped she would. Pistils are set, she stretched a nice amount, and she'll turn out to be about the size I was hoping for. Now it's just a question of whether she can grow decents buds on all those stems.

JD4 had me a little worried in veg, but it looks like it's going to be fine. I stalled this one in a 3 quart pot while its sister grew up and got chopped a couple weeks ago, so it's really old. But it's looking pretty vigorous now.

WP1 is exhibiting one of its winning qualities - especially strong branches. The difference between this one and JD4 is dramatic at this point. JD4 is a little weak and floppy - WP1 is hearty and strong.

Pana1 is developing very nicely. I topped it twice in a row, so it will have 7 good tops, and I'm going to leave this one in veg longer. I'm pretty sure this strain will be a keeper.

I kept the other pair of Pana and Thai cuts to fool around with. I want to see what happens if I LST the Thai - looks ok. Panama hates small pots.

Cuts are looking fine.

Nice grow man!

Thanks!

I noticed that you put the brix measurement down. How do you check this?

There's a device called a refractometer that allows light to shine through a prism covered in juice. You get a measurement of light refraction, which correlates very closely with plant health. Higher levels of sugars and mineral compounds give higher readings. The idea is that the readings can change very quickly, allowing a grower to measure the effectiveness of a nute regimen or other technique.

You can buy one online at the usual places for $30 or less. I'm only taking weekly readings at this point. I'm not doing the testing and tweaking that Doc and others have done.

DAMN Gray!!! Do what you do dude!!!

LOL, thanks Reg. Gray does what he does. :high-five:

So many nice flavors one after another, amazing job man..
They all look GRRREAT!!

Yeah, variety! I love growing the pretty plants and smokin' 'em up, but I especially like getting to taste and feel all the different flavors and buzzes. I've smoked far too much brickweed in my life. Life is too short to smoke bad pot, eh?

Thanks for the support!

And does it well may I add!
