Graytail's 4th Perpetual: 4x4 Samsung Panels

I have two 4’x4’ tents and one has a Timber 48SAM which is 4 QB 288s at 480w. I have that one a light rail mover that moves the light back and forth every minute or so pausing for 15 seconds at each end. So they don’t get the full light all the time. Some of these plants are within 6”. The other tent I have 3 QB 288s at 320w and 4 QB 132s at 200w. Some of these are within 10”.

I’ll raise the lights tomorrow and see how they react. I have a par meter but I haven’t really pulled it out since I added plants. I’ve been meaning too, glad I read this. I’m at 30w and 32.5w per sqft so it’s probably not so bad.

Ah, if it's not the full 12 hours, you're better. Mine have to sit under than much light the whole day long. :bongrip:

All the DCs I've tried have had a similar high - a nice blend of Carnival buzz with a mellow fade - good social pot. It doesn't have the punch or the legs that Carn has, but the flavor compensates. This one is blueberry muffin. Others ranged from lime to plum. It's great for "sipping on" after I've set a base buzz with something else.

Wow Gray....killer explanation. I'm really looking forward to chatting with you about this stuff.

1500 watts of COB would have bleached anything you put in there - can't be that much. :pI have to keep my canopy at least 20 inches from the panels, 24 is better. They don't get burnt - they just get too much light. :) The 304s are pretty intense. I also have 120s for veg, with the same board size, and I can get within a foot of those.
Mine is similar to this one here Gray. They are calling it 1500W (5 X 300w cobs)

COB 1500W LED Grow Light Using Third Generation full spectrum Look like pink color, but use machine to test it,you will find it is full spectrum from 380-800nm for plants, largely accelerate the plant growth. optimize the investment return of commercial plant growing.
    • 1500w(5pcs 300w integrated COB leds) light just consumes about 300W power, energy saving; Big lighting area and high LUX, small unit with high brightness and Long lifespan.

Yup, it's power from the wall that we care about, so that's a 300W light. Each COB draws 60 watts in that panel. Nice!

What they mean is it replaces 1500W HPS. Although these comparisons seem useless as LED and HPS have pretty different PAR efficiency.

Yeah, advertising hype. :)

It doesn't even "mean" that. It's just a buncha numbers added up. The COBs probably have a limit of 300 watts each before they burn up.

300 watts (from the wall) of those COBs are probably the same PAR as 350 watts of blurple or 450 watts of HPS.

But COBs run cool and it's close to the tops on a mover, so it's a good choice. :thumb: And the aesthetics - I detest blurple light. :(

Something to think about, Eggs - the plants are really only interested in the amount of light they get per day. All the metabolic processes are based on Daily Light Integral (DLI) which is simply the amount of photons they get in a day cycle. So you can pass a photon blowtorch over them as long as it doesn't stay there long enough to cause damage. It's how much they get by the end of the day that matters. A plant that gets nothing but sunlight every day of its life is not going to be a happy plant. Afternoon shade would grow a much better one.

Also, plants are used to getting light from one side in the morning and the other side in the afternoon - better overall dispersion than a light overhead in the middle of the space. So, movers change things. :Namaste:

Geeze my lights are like 6”-10” from the tops. Guess I should raise them a bit.

:passitleft:
I run my spydrx about 6-12" above my canopy, with no real issues. Sometimes I have a leaf or two that show me they are tired but thats about it. Not sure how much difference between the two technologies.

Ok now I'm confused again, just kidding. This shows me I have a lot more to learn about lights.

Me too Eggs, I started diving into it but quickly realized it was going to take more time than I wanted to spend especially since I don't "need" anymore lights right now. When I'm ready you'll be an expert and can just tell me what I want. I'll let the community decide what I run. I can build them but I'll rely on you kind folks to assemble a parts list for me.

Time for another update. :bongrip:

It's been a long day and I'm not feeling very chatty but I don't want to put it off until tomorrow, so I'll get the pics posted at least. :)

We start with Bluniverse reveg. This plant faded hard shortly after flip, her fans yellowing and dying off. I had neglected feeds - oops. But a couple weeks of strong drenches and she stabilized and is growing some nice flowers now.

Third round for Carnival1, smaller this time. :)

This is DeadlySativa1, starting to look mighty fine - beautiful well-behaved habit, shiny leaves - ticks all the boxes. :slide:

And another one, completely different. It's compact, which they say tends to be the LemonThai leaners. We'll see - I have a cut of both.

And here's DCPurple starting to look pretty. She has the same buds her mother had - purple inner buds and purple veins in the sugar leaves.

In small pots, I have Zam+ at 39 days. She'll be at this for awhile ...

BubbaHash - 43 days - pretty colors this time ...

This is pitiful little DC5. I kept this one too long, mis-timed, the flip, did everything wrong. Today I snapped one of the mains, spreading her out a bit. Sheesh.

And today I flipped GojiPupil after 80 days in veg - hope she's big enough. :bongrip:

Here's what's in veg. I've never seen such an explosive reveg like this from a plant before!

RaspberryDiesel Reveg

The rest are labeled ...

The next round of big pots will be Carnival1, Y Griega, Destroyer, DeadlySativa1, and a Carnival3 if I can get one to pop.

Got a StarPupil and RedDiesel in this batch.

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! :Namaste:

Sue would live the looks of that Carnival!!!!

And I have ment to ask..... Pic in the back......
"tomorrow is another day?!"

Pic in the back? Are you referring to Rhett and Scarlett? :hmmmm: :)
