Graytail's 4th Perpetual: 4x4 Samsung Panels

I don't really know. :hmmmm: I haven't had Sour Diesel yet, so it may be a similar buzz, from the way I've heard it described. In fact, I've often wondered if the unknown genetics are close to SD.

Anyway, most strains have a sedative effect once the rush wears off. I get the euphoric high which lasts 15-20 minutes before it fades, and then the underlying stone will last a couple hours. That underlying stone is different in Carnival and similar strains. Usually I'll feel tired and unmotivated.

But with Carnival, after an hour or so I feel like moving around and doing something. I still feel stoned but not inactive. Instead of vegging at the puter I feel like walking the dog or taking care of some chore. I'm more eager to engage with the world and find out what it may have to offer. I don't know if it showed at the beach but I'm a fidgety guy. :) When I'm sitting relaxed, I'll bounce my knee or foot, my arms are quick to gesture, etc. I noticed that at 2:00 in the morning, after constantly "sipping" a few hits every 20 minutes all evening, my foot will still be bouncing, and I don't feel fatigued. I'm tired and ready to sleep but I'm not stoned out.

That's always been the fly in the ointment for me (and many others) with cannabis use. I feel better stoned, but I don't feel like doing much, right? So Carnival puts me in my right mind and doesn't isolate me as a loadie. And because I know that, I can get high with ... freedom? I know I won't have to fight fatigue. That makes the rush even better, y'know?

Africans and SE Asian strains have a similar energy to them but they're also disorienting - the "trippy" buzz. The GT x Oldtimers was very energetic but it felt like it drained my mental energy - "thinned" me out - twirly eyed - kinda "twitchy". It makes me feel like I'm constantly overlooking stuff - harder to keep my mental bearings. It's more challenging than soothing. Carnival has enough of something to it to keep the high "kind". That's a word that resonates with me - some strains are kinder than others. The Brazilians are like that, along with a lot of the Colombian/Mexican/Thai crosses. You get the energy from the Thai and Lumbo, and the Mexican moderates it enough to be kind.

See, I'm into the rush. :) I want to tap a rush a few times an hour when I smoke. Rush, fade, rush, fade. With most strains I can't do that. The stone will sap me too much. I've never really identified with the "no ceiling" idea, but it's probably related to that. They say when you smoke some strains you just get higher and higher. I don't, really. I get "there", wherever that is, like banging on the ceiling. So each time I hit it, I'm there again - bang, bang, bang. If I try that with most strains, I become uselessly tired. With Carnival, the rush fades, the humming stone sets in, and then everything clears and I feel bright and right. I find myself thinking of things to do while I'm stoned. And if I want another rush, I know that it won't slow me down.

It feels like there's an undesirable cannabinoid missing from Carnival, or some extra something that feels kind. Amy has been wondering about CBG. And Carnival also has the terp profile that I prefer - light sweet lime/berry with a fuel backnote, so that might be part of it.

I have a Raspberry Diesel (Cherry Afghan x Sour Diesel) in bloom, so I'll finally have a chance to see how SDs compare. :bongrip:

:Namaste:

If you wrote a book, I'd buy it.

I LOVE dissecting the highs, and figuring out what it is that makes the ones I like 'tick'. I'll second the idea that CBG may be part of the 'kind' feeling--I have a Super Lemon Haze plant that happens to put out a decent amount of CBG, and everyone that tries it likes it. Nice, energetic, 'kind', high.

Ever heard of the term "cubing" when if comes to breeding?

Cubing is a continuous backcross, isn't it?

It's the consecutive selfs that confuse me.

Thanks Stoney! I'm surprised to hear about the SLH. I couldn't get used to mine - too disorienting.

the whole breeding is confusing as hell to me lol. I just listened to a podcast about breeding and remembered a word or two. The way he explained cubing was keeping a mother plant and back crossing children to lock in the desired traits.

Thanks Morglie!

So far, no two F2s phenos have been the same.

Amazingly, only one bud on the lowest branch was seeded, and I didn't find anything that might have caused it. So I feel fairly safe. I really hope this pheno is an improvement on the breeding. It feels just as strong as a green pheno but with very strong terps.

Then can I expect mostly purple phenos from the F3s? The F2s have been 1/4 purple, with some color on 1 out of 2.

[Edit] After more thought ... I should get all purples from these seeds ...

If both parents, in this case the only parent, are purple, then there wasn't a dominant green gene in the mix, right? The F1 was green, and 3/4 of the F2s were green so far, and I have selfed seeds from a purple. So ... no green left?

I like that. :)
That's what I'm thinking as well. The one Neiko reversed to make the S1 must have had a dominant gene for green and a recessive one for purple. Which resulted in the ratio of 1/4 purple.

Now the plant you just reversed and selfed has both recessive genes for purple, so all the offspring should be purple as well. Hopefully the intensity of the terps carries over as well.

Ok, just out of curiosity ....

How many of us have rubbed resin into our eyes? Just me? Twice this year. Hmph.

But DC4 be phat n sticky!

... ('Scuse me, my eye is still watering) ...

This one reminds me very much of DC3, complete with the mild pink in the inner buds - finally got two phenos to match. And this looks like over an ounce to me. I'm glad the clone survived. :slide:

That's one way to medicate cataracts haha. Gorgeous looking bud

:thumb: killerbudz! Lol :D

Not something I’ve ever done... will try to learn from your experience and not ever do it myself!

Gray, those buds look beautiful and very smokable (even tho they still look fresh). So pretty and such lovely fruity colours. :ganjamon:

This journal is fast becoming my happy place :)

This is correct!

If the gene/trait is recessive and you cross two parents, one with the dominant gene and one with the recessive gene, all offspring (F1's) will express the dominant gene/trait, but they will all "carry" the recessive gene. When two of these F1's are crossed, of the offspring (F2's), 75% will express the dominant trait/gene and 25% will express the recessive trait. If you then cross two of the F2's with the recessive trait, 100% of offspring will have the recessive trait.

That being said, I would be very wary of nanners! It's typically not a good idea to breed with known hermie traits!

I have gotten trichs in my eyes and it never feels good. It is so hard not to rub my eyes while trimming some times. Who would have thought it would hurt so much?

So your saying if my father never rubbed his eyes and my mother never rubbed her eyes,
i wont either :D

EDIT: Ooops looks like I need to breed with another non-eye rubber to stabilize future offspring.

Correct, unless the eye rubbing is recessive and both your parents have the trait, in which case, there's a 25% chance you'll rub your eyes even though your parents don't!
