Graytail's 3rd: 4x4, HiBrix, Latest LED Tech, Lots Of Light!

Reinoculate after transplant, that's my advice. I do some reinoculation in my grows.

We always sprinkle the transplant hole with mycos/rock dust (Roots!) ...

I may have gapped-out the Trans/Tea when I went from cups to 1.5s ... :hmmmm:

[Edit] I took some pics of the three I upcanned 2 days ago. They look much better already. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Panama - I may have to give this one some epsoms

Desfran - MUCH better

I'm sure there's a reason - just not sure what it is. :cheesygrinsmiley: :laughtwo:

I've been pondering it and I don't think this last batch of soil cooked very well. I live in a cold climate so my basement, where I store the totes, often stays in the high 60s and low 70s until mid-summer. The soil in the bins doesn't seem to be any warmer that the ambient air and in fact feels coolish when I push a hand into it. It's digesting leaves now, but the earlier soil may not have grown much biota. I'm pretty sure the yellowing is mag def, which usually only shows up in this soil later, in bloom. To have it happening in veg means that the biota aren't digesting it in the soil. I feed lightly, so I'm going to see how they react to double doses of Trans/Tea. And the 1.5 gallon pots weren't helping - as we know, biota do much better in larger containers - so the upcanned ones should improve rapidly. That has usually straightened plants out in the past. :slide:
My soil kind of feels like that too, GT. We've been having some cool weather so there's not much I can do to stop it :( I'm sure yours will really start cranking out some beautiful new growth :D

And there you go Graytail. Much improved and on their way to awesome.

Desfran looks incredible. What a dramatic turnaround. This fade and sparkle thing you guys do with your plants fascinates me. How am I going to contain the excitement with my own? At some point I'm going to have almost 30 going at once. :laughtwo: Just imagine that for a minute. Not the reality of the grow - Ziggy's doing that now. I'm thinking of the excitement level of having that many pumping out that energy at once. Hadn't thought of it that way. Whew! It's going to be quite a ride. :laughtwo:

I had to upcan some plants today and had to pull everything out of its place, so I took pics for an update. :tommy:

I'll start with the BH x BB. Y'know it's a lot more fun to cultivate cannabis when you have a plant in bloom. Finally, I got one to escape the veg room of doom and grow up enough to bloom. :bravo: She's really perked up since the heavy drench and recharge. I don't know if the pics will show it, but the upper leaves have that translucent bright green glow to them, stiff and reaching. :cheesygrinsmiley: Very nice to see.

Orange Hill Special is coming along nicely - frankly she's been coming along nicely all her life. This plant has been a breeze to grow. I have a well developed canopy now and in another week or two I'll put her into bloom. :slide:

I upcanned Panama, Desfran and Tikal today and I'll have to decide how to train them soon. I'll give 'em a week or so in the new soil, first.

Tikal has been the strongest plant of the three, all stalky and big-leafed. I think I'm going to like this one a lot.

Panama is a week younger than the other two and is keeping right up. :cheesygrinsmiley:

And Desfran is gonna be a challenge. I think I may top this one and keep it in veg longer - try to grow a good base foundation. The fluffy ones I've bent over have turned into messy things.

The BH crosses, xNexus and xDestroyer are doing well, evenly matched. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I'm gettin' jonesed about another seed buy, so I'm not sure where I go next - gotta get some more in soil. I still have a couple crosses to run, one of which is Carnival x Utopia Haze - sounds promising. :cheesygrinsmiley: I see Dr Grinspoon is available again, and I think I want to run a HSO Blue Dream. I have to do NepJam again, too - mine just up and died one day. Taskenti from Cannabiogen looks very interesting. I have to grow a fine indica one of these days, and I have some Afghan regular freebies already, so that might be fun - Uzbekistani hashplant, why not? :cheesygrinsmiley:

I also wanted to show how I'm using this Par-Force panel from Smart Grow Technologies. I delivers 400+ umols at 12 inches over a 18x48 inch footprint. I've been vegging in cups under CFLs and then slipping them under the Par-Force when they go into 1.5 gals, and I've been running them at about a foot from the panel. Now that they're in 6 gallon pots, I can still fit three under the panel, and I'll see how they respond. 400 umols should be enough. About 190 watts draw, 764 diodes, BIG footprint, VERY cool running. And they dropped the price. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Those first couple are sweet shaped sharp lookin! :) Looking forward to the BLOOM flowers on those wow

:thanks: Thanks everyone!

I've been wanting to get some more seeds and I saw that Dr Grinspoon was available again, but Herbie's freebies weren't anything I wanted, so I was mulling it over ... et voila! Herbies saw me crab about it here and promptly got a whole new selection of freebies that I like. :yahoo: ... pretty sure it was me :hmmmm: ... it's all about me, isn't it? :cheesygrinsmiley:

Anyway, here's what I have coming:

Which reminds me ... cultivating cannabis makes a person think in a much longer timeframe. Here I am, making concrete decisions and putting processes in motion that won't bear fruit for another 5-6 months. We occasionally talk about how growers seem to be a rather distinct bunch of folks, but we rarely talk about the discipline it requires over such a long period. Ya can't grow without planning and patience.

Heheh, it would probably be great therapy for recovering addicts. :laughtwo: It sure messes with that need for instant gratification.

Ummmm!! Can't wait.

I'll get an update posted tomorrow, but things are improving rapidly. :yahoo:

Here's Desfran - a remarkable recovery!
DSCN76311.JPG

The veg room is finally performing again, now that temps and especially humidity are up. You can see Tikal peeking out from behind OHS - I really like this strain/pheno - eager and vigorous!

I agree with this 100%. When I first started my current grow I thought I should be able to have it done by August so I could take off for a few weeks. Then some seeds didn't germinate and planted a few more. Then decided just a couple more wont hurt. Now its 7 weeks till Aug and I haven't switched to flower yet. So maybe late August early September if I flower soon. Very good lesson in time management. :rasta:

Of course it is, and how nice of Herbie's to acknowledge that! :laughtwo::green_heart:

Nice list Graytail. A little envious of your seed budget bud. Lucky you.

This last winter, I spent a lot of time looking for pumice (not sold on the East Coast any more) and good compost (not available until spring without $15/bag shipping.) Not to make that mistake again, I purchased about twice the compost I will need to last until spring 2016. This is because the East Coast is so very, very seasonal in their activities that only the hydro stores carry any supplies in winter.

So yeah, growing gets me thinking like a gardener/farmer and plannng ahead. :)

Building my outdoor garden, with steps like clearing maple trees to make a clearing at 1/3 of the trees per year, I thought I was doing long-term thinking. (Reportedly, If you clear 100% of a maple canopy, adjacent trees will send out suckers and fill your new meadow with young maples.)

Then yesterday, I was listening to a forester on an audio recording. He was talking about planning his tree harvests based on where the forest would be 80-100 years in the future. :)

I had a 75 yr old linden tree in my back yard, and 12 years ago a windstorm snapped it off 10 feet up and it had to be taken down, sawed off a couple inches from the ground. It threw out a spray of suckers the next spring and I let them grow for a few years and then selected two dominant ones and took the others out. They're now 4 inches in diameter and 15 feet tall. With some time and patience I'll see that majestic tree once again. :cheesygrinsmiley:

:Namaste:

I love that thinking into the next generation. The expectation of future generations benefitting from your work today. That we could all be aware of how often we do that in life and don't even realize it.

Sorry. Joint cookie. Completely wasted and obviously slipping into the ethereal. :circle-of-love:
