Graytail's 3rd: 4x4, HiBrix, Latest LED Tech, Lots Of Light!

Yeah what all those folks said:thumb: exemplary update! Really looking forward to watching those beauties flower.

Thanks again for the topping and training details.

Question about the Desfran. You keep describing the plant as "fluffy" but I'm not sure what you mean. What is a fluffy sativa, and why does that make you want to top rather than train?

cheers!:peace::passitleft:

I was on my way to bed when I found this. I think I'll wait up a bit to see if this answer comes through. I'll just back up and study that excellent update again.

Hmm, how to describe "fluffy" ...

Some sativas have a very delicate, slim sort of habit. The stems are relatively weak and thin, and they support lots of many-bladed skinny leaves with longer node spacing. The leaves also tend to softly droop, giving it a fluffy look, like a fern or something. The result is an airy elegant looking plant which can be just fine and very beautiful outside, but becomes a mess under the constraints of indoor growing. If you only have 4 feet to work with, you can't let the plant grow naturally - it doesn't get a chance to develop its proper structure. You can easily end up with something like this:

It looked like this in early bloom:

And it looked like this right before I flipped it:

And in veg ...

Looks a lot like my Desfran, doesn't it? :laughtwo:

You gonna have some nice bushes in there. :high-five: I'm sure you're glad to have something with a pistil on it :Hookah:

Really looking forward to seeing your crosses, this is going to be fun. :cheertwo:
Can't wait to see and hear more about the - Grinspoon. :circle-of-love:

I am SO glad to have something with pistils on it! :yahoo:

Y'know, I haven't been giving these crosses much respect cause, well, they were just accidents and these sorts of thing tend to be disappointing novelties. But if I'd wanted to do some breeding I'd have been hard pressed to find a more promising project. I was exploring Brazilian sativas, so I had three of them in there when Buddha hermied. Buddha Haze is half Brazilian and Utopia is full IBL, so the cross is 75% pure Brazilian. :cheesygrinsmiley: Nexus is half Brazilian, so that's still 50/50. I have just a few seeds from a Carnival that could only have been pollinated by a Utopia Haze that threw some nanners. They're pale, and the first one I tried was a dud, but I started another one. That could be interesting - my two favorite highs, crossed with each other. :yahoo:

And Dr Grinspoon ... ... what is it about those pictures? I jus' gotta grow one, y'know?

Great update Graytail! It looks to me like you have a different phenotype of Tikal than me. You're gonna get one of the strawberry ones I think. Mine is very sativa looking. Beware mine quadrupled in size. I think it was about 12" when I flowered her and she has 4 tops over 4' the rest are about 3.5'. I really want the strawberry gigglely one.

This pheno has looked authentically Guatemalan from the get-go. :cheesygrinsmiley: I'm really looking forward to it - gotta make sure I can get clones to root, too. It's easy to grow and could be a lot of fun to work with once a guy got it dialed in. I think I can get enough tops on this one to keep it from stretching too much. For some reason I don't get much stretch in my grows anyway - never nailed down why. I thought it was the heavy training until I saw Duggans Desfrans take him to the woodshed. :cheesygrinsmiley: I only had that sort of growth once, on a Hawaiian Snow, but she still didn't do more than 2.5 times. It might be my smallish pots at 6 gallons.

Worth the wait Graytail. Now I can finally drift off to sleep. 'Night

We speak the same plant. :) There's a lot of great genes in there, some of my favorite stuff too. I'll enjoy watching the DrG, but I'm really wanting to see how your crosses come out. I wonder though, why adding Panama to a Purple Thai (H.O.G. x Choc Thai) makes such a different looking plant. She looks like she went to Mardi Gras.

Did you see DrZiggy's White Widow? - looked exactly like a Grinspoon! :cheesygrinsmiley:

And J1 ran a Grinspoon that looked pretty normal:

So ... dunno. Maybe it's just a recessive trait that came out in Barney's particular cross.

What I do? :)

its not me..its the Kit, the lights, the SWICK..

i think there are 4 WW in that SWICK. i can't tell too well but looks like its turning a little purple, one looks typical WW but dwarfed
. i have one that resembles Grinspoon..i never heard of the guy until I posted a pic of it. I have never seen anything like it. i still think it may occurred due to a few CAT drenches in a row and early. But it didn't happen to any other plants....so its a weird pheno for sure. I don't know what Bubblegum should be but my 3 are so sweet smelling and frosty..:) I'm hoping to harvest at least 1/2 the SWICK(6 are ready) after the weekend.

You 'da man Ziggy. :high-five:

Looking forward to the impending chop!

Florida will make it, most likely in 2016. That idiot casino owner dumped several million $ in negative adds and scared a few oldtimers and thumpers. I will be escaping this insane asylum, as soon as I can, either back to CO or OR I have yet to decide.

Phew, finally made it to the end. 43 pages of post in one afternoon, I really need to get my act together in regards to reading journals when they start. :smokin2:

There is no way I am doing 40 pages :cheesygrinsmiley: Stopped in to see this years winners veg :geek:

Looking great as usual... except those weird sparse plants, they might be great and tasty but damn those girls need a sandwich to put on some weight :cheesygrinsmiley:

Gray, your Panama looks a little bit different from the old pheno you were running, doesn't it?
