Graytail's 3rd: 4x4, HiBrix, Latest LED Tech, Lots Of Light!

I lived there for a short time as a child and returned there a couple years ago for 3 weeks. It is a beautiful country, to be sure! Now it's appeal just skyrocketed! But make no mistake, in most cases you are a foreigner there.
Under these new laws, I expect there will be corruption and battles for land.
Intersting article, GT. Thanks for the 411.

Nice idea to retire. Hmmm does living in US get so expensive or is it just for the weather, Gray?

I checked out real estate prices these days and a 1000+ sqft 3 Bdrm 2 Bath house on a small lot goes for well under $100,000. Prices for rural homes on acreages are similar.

Interesting, no? :hmmm: It could be the kind of place a Northerner always hoped to retire to ... US territory ... nice climate ... much closer than Guam ...

Last year I bought a 1997 1600sqft home with a concrete floored 35x40 metal shop plus a nice new metal sided (stick built, not the cheapo style) shed AND a 21hp Husqvarna 48" mower on just about 26 acres in the mid south. Paid a little over 80k cash. Best money I ever spent.

Actually, I'm surprised at how well the US cost of living compares to other countries. It seems like the US would be more expensive, but it's usually the other way around. I don't live in a large city, and my personal CoL is lower than normal, too, so it's hard to find bargain living conditions elsewhere. I could swap my city home for a rural acreage in my part of the country, but legalization isn't coming here soon. I'm in my last couple decades of life now, and if I'm going to leave my home of 30 years, I'd like to move to a more hospitable climate.

I've always been intrigued by the idea of being an expat in a country with a simple easy and cheap lifestyle, living comfortably off US pension payments, and occasionally I've looked into which countries were bargains at the time. Belize has been a good opportunity from time to time, and I was very interested in Chile for awhile - very nice people and good government. :cheesygrinsmiley: We have Vietnamese friends, too, and they were extolling the charms of South Sea living. But good ol' Puerto Rico is close and easy to get to, and it has US laws. That always freaks me out a little about foreign countries. I haven't been a good law-abiding citizen all my life - I typically obey the *cough* "spirit" of laws - and I know how our legal system works. Other countries are different.

What sort of property does $100,000 buy in the beautiful foothills of Italia? :hmmm: :smokin2:

Mid south of ... Puerto Rico? If so, we have to have a chat!. :cheesygrinsmiley: :adore:

Hey, in my zone not much unfortunately, and I live in a countryside  In the south you can buy a place much cheaper if it's not in the seaside, quite cheap actually. Life is cheaper too. In the north in a nice community you'd have to spend from 2,500 to 4,000 a m2 which is around 10,7 square feet.

Another beautiful Monday Gray...:high-five:....:circle-of-love:

Good to see you, Dennise! It is indeed a beautiful day. We're having one of those freaky warm spells right now. The dog is going to get a long walk today. :slide:

great thread, :thanks: attempted as much from the start as i could but my eyes are too sore by page 22..sub'd!
Please don't take that great weather for granted!! i have 4ft of snow out front.

The update is late again this week - I just wasn't feelin' it last night. But this morning is overcast with a cool drizzle and I copped a nice wake n bake buzz from Doctor Grinspoon, so here we go. :slide:

My magnificent whiteflies have survived the first spinosad onslaught and are busy rebuilding the population so I soaked the room again. I didn't bother to check the incubation interval for them - I probably missed a hatch. I wonder if the defense dept would be interested in them for biological warfare ... :hmmm: ... Doc could offer the Kit for defense ... hmmm ... might be the makings of a Nobel fortune in there ...

Chan1 gets the chop later today or tomorrow. I let her go a week longer than I needed to (actually, I was lazy) and she put the time to pretty good use. Pistils have turned color and have been pulling back into the calyxes, along with a noticeable swell and a last burst of trichs. This will be the last Channel+ and I'm pretty happy with it. Next, I'll run their Sour Diesel.

Freddy's finished the Cat drench two weeks ago and really responded well! I finally got into the middle and thinned out a bunch of that foliage. Given its genetics, I'm surprised at how leafy this strain is.

I wish the cuts from this CarnivalA pheno had survived. Over time, this has proved to be superior to the more compact B pheno. I have another three seeds though, so I'll drop a couple more of those when I get the next batch started. So far so good - another 4 weeks to go.

And these CarnBs tend to come out small. I've run the original and two clones and none of them stretched much. If I did another, I'd train it wider with 12-15 tops. Letting one sit in veg longer only produced a taller plant. But it's very easy to grow. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Grin2 is coming along beautifully. This strain is really growing on me. Grin1 turned out especially well, becoming rich and aromatic after being jarred for 3 weeks. The buzz reminds me of Destroyer - nice and speedy but a little dangerous. :cheesygrinsmiley: It's easy to become a little foolish after partaking of the DrG.

CarnB1 is busy setting pistils. It was in veg two weeks longer than CarnB2 but it hardly stretched so it'll end only an inch or two taller. Nice start though. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hmmm I like this Dr Grinspoon it seems it's just Neville's Haze renamed. Well for sure they didn't develop it themselves

"....nice and speedy and a little dangerous." :laughtwo: Right up my alley. Nice description Graytail.

Oooooo.... That Rio3 is looking all ready to go and make her mark. Man, that's a pretty light, isn't it? This Vero 240 is particularly pleasing to the eye. Every morning I look in there and think "Graytail would like this light." :battingeyelashes:

BB shared with me to use the spinosad every three days. :laughtwo: I'm sorry, the phrase "three days" always sends me into Monty Python land.

Let me take another stroll while I have lunch. Thanks for the pick-me-up. :kisstwo:
