Graytail Goes LED - 810W Intelligent-Gro II w/ High Brix

LOL Duggan, I just now found time for an update. :laughtwo:

I apologize for my recent absence folks, but I had to step up and handle some stuff personally. I have a short break before I get back to it, and I found time to take some pics and post them. :cheesygrinsmiley:

My plants have been neglected. In fact, I just realized today that I lost a week somewhere. :laughtwo: I was supposed to chop Grapefruit last week and the Carnivals today, the youngsters have gone unpotted, etc. Everything is set back a week or three. But this Grapefruit looks lovely, with its purple tinge and orange hairs. It's as done as it's ever gonna get, heheh. I haven't pulled out the loupe and checked for ambers, but I imagine there are plenty. But man, is this one frosty! It definitely has denser trichs than the earlier ones under 600 watts of hps. I like it. Probably chop it tomorrow. :slide:

These two Carnivals were supposed to be finished today, but they can easily go another week. Carn5 is holding on better than Carn4, but they both have great trich production, courtesy of a mere 400 average watts of Intelligent-Gro II. Both of these plants came out of veg looking pretty bad, but they did quite well under the LED panel. Neither one will be a high yielder, but I want smaller plants anyway, now, to suit my pots.

Utopia Haze is looking fairly good. It finished the cat drench a week ago and is starting to swell a bit. At this point I don't see any way that this pheno will finish in 11 weeks as described by the breeder. That would be two weeks from now and I'm thinking it has another month to go. In a way, it's reassuring, because the pheno I liked went 10 weeks, so maybe that's the common one and I just ended up getting two of this fluffy hazey one. I may have to get more beans and try again. :cheesygrinsmiley: But it does look kinda like your KC-45, Lester. It may be good smoke when it's done. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Destroyer showed pistils about a week and a half ago and is going "okay". It has purple stems and a bad color but it's alive and blooming and its cuts took, so I get another crack at it. :cheesygrinsmiley:

And Buddha Haze was ready for bloom, lanky energetic girl that she is. This is what my original Utopia Haze looked like, with the large firm leaves and open node pattern. Both varieties are crossed with a Brazilian Sativa - an unnamed one for Utopia, and Manga Rosa for Buddha - so maybe that's a shared expression - fingers are crossed. :cheesygrinsmiley: I topped this one once and it took well to it.

... but I apparently didn't take pics ... oops ... I'll get some tomorrow. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Next to go into bloom will be a couple Utopia Haze cuts and the Blue Blood, in two or three weeks, with Nexus and NepJam a couple weeks later. I have about three more weeks of 12 hours days left, and then I'll be free to indulge in my hobby again, so the timing is pretty good.

Whew!

:Namaste:

Thanks for stickin' with me in my absence, everyone! :thanks:

(BTW, the spotted leaves are from spraying De-Stress - good thing, not bad. :cheesygrinsmiley: )

Thanks, PeeJay! :thanks:

Real nice work Gray! Lots of variety in appearance but all impressive individually. Those dark red Destroyer stems have me asking you if there's Romulan in her lineage?

Um .. nah. :cheesygrinsmiley: It's just embarrassingly neglected.

My veg space isn't performing worth a crap and my soil has gotten too salty. And I keep getting bum plants like this, probably because I wasn't able to mix my soil very well when I flushed it with my high alkalinity water. Oops twice.

:cough:

So ... I get hits and misses. Destroyer is a miss, as were the two Carnivals. The good news is that once they get into bloom under the Intelligent-Gro they straighten out pretty well, at least so far. This is educational for me at this point. Stressed plants tend to produce less yield but they often exhibit other interesting qualities like potency or character. I'd be a lot less complacent if I didn't have two nice healthy Destroyer cuts already. :cheesygrinsmiley:

The girls will LOVE having you back Graytail, and it is looking great in there.

Grapefruit Cut2 is dried and jarred and yielded 44 grams, 1.55 ounces over 154 days = 0.286 grams per day. In fairness, I kept it in veg for a very long time and I let it run a week longer than it needed. It's a rather unremarkable yield, but the smoke is more potent than the other two I ran. I checked ambers and there are a lot - like 20-25% - but it doesn't seem to affect the character of the high very much. It's still very buzzy with barely a hint of indica. The extra week or two altered the scent and taste though, "ripening" it from a clear sweet grapefruit to something a bit more thick and pungent. I'll check again after another couple weeks in the jar.

I haven't chopped either Carnival yet, but they'll both probably go this week. I'll harvest Carn4 in the next day or two and do Carn5 this weekend. Neither of them are plants to be proud of, but they're nice and frosty and will yield well between the two of them. I stuck another one into flower this week to keep the pheno going. :cheesygrinsmiley: I hadn't taken brix readings for three weeks, mostly 'cause I didn't have a lot of extra time on my hands, but also because I figured it pretty much sucked from the way my plants look, but I took some quick readings today and was surprised at how well it's holding up. Carn4 is 10 and Carn5 is 11. That's not good, but it doesn't suck, either.

Utopia Haze2 grew some male flowers over the past few days and may be done. They were very random and sparse so I just clipped 'em off and I'll keep checking daily. I doubt it'll stop, but the plant will get a little more time to ripen calyxes. This girl will be too fluffy to be top shelf smoke, but I'm eager to see what the high is like. It has a classically clear sweet sativa scent - yum!

Destroyer is surprising me. :cheesygrinsmiley: She went into bloom in pretty tough shape, but the new growth is right up to par, and she reads brix at a solid 13. Not so bad! Trich production is steady and encouraging - only 18 days since pistil set. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Grapefruit Cut3 might be perking up. It still has the purple stems but brix is at 12 like all the other Grapefruits I ran and it's growing at a pretty good clip. It'll show pistils this week.

I've had this Carnival in veg for a very long time - same age as the ones about to be chopped :cheesygrinsmiley: - just keeping the pheno alive, but it suffered pretty badly from my neglect and I have another cut in veg, so I put it into bloom this week. I was lighting bare floor anyway. I'm not expecting much from it, but it'll be educational. :cheesygrinsmiley:
