GratefulBud's Summer 2023 Outside Grow

What are you going to do in August when they are 10 feet tall? :welldone:
Looking great today Amigo.
Hope your doing well.
Take care.

Seriously though be prepared, going to be huge. ;):morenutes:
I think they have another 2 -3 weeks and then flower so maybe not ten feet but they should get a little bigger. Hope you are feeling better my friend.

2-3 weeks?
Mine don't start flowing until August.
Your growing them outside right?
What area are you in with that sunlight schedule? :Namaste:

I’m north of Los Angeles and outdoors. Last year they flowered mid June for some reason so this year I sprouted later thinking they will flower first week of July - which is what they did two years ago. If they go longer great! But the grow dots will be off schedule. Hmmm. . .

Down the 405 a few miles my hybrids would show pistils by mid-July when I would flower outside. Sativas would probably wait for mid-August.
Interesting.
I read somewhere recently that first week of July was typical flower for outdoors in the Valley. in 2021 two plants went into flower around 4th of July. Over the years I've had several plants go into flower early - probably my fault.

If they do wait until August, my grow dots will be a few weeks ahead. They will start releasing flower nutes around July 4th. I may need to supplement more than just Purpinator in late August. No worries - the other 4 ladies will be on FF Trio so I may need to share.

Good morning Scoobs!

Your grow is looking bang on!

Your pool area is so lovely. And your dragon Khal Drogo is a beast!
Hiya T!
It has been very cloudy and cool here so we have not used the pool much yet. Soon . . .

Check out this top view comparison - left is Critical Kush in soil and on the right is SFV OG in SIP. Both plants popped same day (4/20/2023). I'd say yeah, the SIP is doing much better, wouldn't you? I moved the CK from a solo cup into the SIP bucket on 5/29. OG went from Solo cup into the 2.5 quart pot on 5/31. They were close in size until about a week ago. Just in the past 3-4 days it seems like the two in SIP finally found the fountain of life in the res - and they are gushing.

That is an amazing comparison!
At first I was skeptical of SIP.
I am now a believer.

Not sure Grow Dots are the best nutrients for SIP - maybe for indoor where you can control flower date. I may try MC or GeoFlora next time.

Very nice comparison, SiP really gives that extra push to plants.

Kudos
Thanks Dani!

All 6 sprouted around same day and have been growing right next to each other.
If I can keep the bugs away I'll be super green (Rudy Rhod reference).

Yeah tell me about it, I got something eating my little Honduras. Freaking bugs I put them 2 dozen Kale plants so they can feast and the go for the canna 😂

I sprayed neem today - mostly as a preventative. See just a little bit of damage from thrips. I'm also adding SNS209 every watering.

I'm debating how I will do netting this year. Won't know for sure until beginning of flower. These girls may get HUGE!

Thanks Shed!
I was looking for his post on it.

I don't think I will use the tomato cages this summer, but I will use the netting again. I have some metal tubing left over from a small greenhouse that I will repurpose as a cage around plants. I bought some netting - 10' x 30' - so once they go into flower I'll know how large to build the cage.

I’ve always been a believer. SIP is not a new concept. It’s like it sort of became universally embraced in here at a similar time, so it seems new. But the concept has been around since you were but a tickle in your daddy’s nut sack.

I personally like reading my plants and watering. It adds to my grow experience. I’m also all about astetics astatics aztetics things looking pretty and they are waaaaaay too clunky for me to look at every day LOL!

Good job!

And my advice, not that you asked lol. Keep that prophylactic treatment up. Even when you don’t think they need it. It was game changing for me. Pool side grows bring such pain 🐜 🕷️
