Grateful Bud's Backyard Outdoor Grow - SFV OG

I’m thinking Sunny and Dawn are almost ready for harvest. Not drinking as much.
That means they're getting close! I try to wait for drinking to basically stop (like no change in weight from one day to the next).
The yellowing on the top colas may be because I sprayed citric solution to ward off bud rot. Not seeing any more.
Glad you're not seeing any more rot! I don't think the yellowing is from citric acid spray because I tested it in the sun on two clones and didn't see any change in leaf color.
Also the aroma is wonderful!
Maybe that's why my backyard smells so nice when the wind comes in from the Valley. :cheesygrinsmiley:
It’s been much cooler than normal last few days - only got up to 81 yesterday. This week it gradually warms back up. Close to 100 by Saturday.
Definitely better sleeping weather lately! Maybe this weekend is summer's last gasp.

Odd. I’m only seeing the discoloring where I sprayed. Just the top colas of Sunny and Dawn. Wondering if I made it too strong.

As long as you weighed the citric acid and made it 1% solution, the only thing I can think of is too much soap or too much heat when it was wet. Either way, yellowing leaves is better than bud rot!
Absolutely!

I’ve got a few business trips coming up in late October. Hoping to get everything chopped dried and burped before then. I may not be so lucky.

Get that bud Scoobs!

Those Coca-Cola’s look HUGEEEEE!
Thanks Tra!

I'm starting to think in this case bigger is not better. Seems to me that outside grows are more susceptible to bud rot.
But I have a ton of good looking nuggets for sure!
Hoping I can bring them to harvest and cure.

Here are the bad things.
With the rain and humidity Sunny's top cola did not survive the bud rot. When I checked today it was back and I just chopped the whole thing off.

Sunny yesterday.

Sunny after.

I did manage to salvage one tiny nugget that looks to be disease-free.

Yay!

So bummed.

What's the weather looking like for the next week or two?
If there's any rain coming then I'd probably just take her now.
It looks like she's getting close enough...
A lot of plants get taken early here and a lot of others don't make it.
I hope you get to enjoy the hard work you put in.
Better some than none. Just my two cents.

Well , shit ...
That cola was huge!
I know growing outdoors you've got to expect
to lose a bit, but it's still a friggin' gut punch when it happens...
I hope that's the end of the rot..🤞

I didn't see budrot in there but I believe you. The brown leaves I saw were brown from the tips in.

I hope the rest survive!
Yeah it was starting to spread. Better to just bite the bullet. So far just the large top cola.

It will get up to 91 today, then close to 100 for the next 6 days.
74% humidity this morning. Not ideal.

I'm really surprised that you get bud rot, considering your location. I'm wondering if the moth nets that you are using are keeping in too much moisture and preventing sufficient airflow. The only time I've had bud rot was last year with my GDP plant. That's the one that I built that large moth cage for... just thinking out loud here. :hmmmm:

I’m starting to think the same thing. The nets work great at keeping the moths and other critters away, but at what cost? I would have thought there would be sufficient air flow.
