UPDATE!

I know you all just love looking at small plants with no buds! Harhar :cheesygrinsmiley: So I won’t fail the task! Nah, I know some of you still like the lil ones!:high-five:

Now… I am so pleased with them! But I can’t help feel they are lacking in color, a bit on the light green side. Anyone know how to deepen their green or what they are lacking? I’m thinking maybe nitrogen, or maybe a cal/mag hit? Thoughts, please?

Are you feeding them?
Calmag helps with nutrient uptake but isn’t usually used a a source of nitrogen.
I agree with your assessment.
Are you using a line of nutrients?

Monday: Lights at 40% over shorter/newer plants and 50%over taller plants. Both at 11.5” from tallest plant under it.

Added 1/8 tsp Myco+ to 3/4g h2o, which also has 25 drops Clean Kelp and 25 drops Earth Worm Castings (both by Bloom City). Last night and today I’m doing bottom watering on all with this blend. Want to give them good organic nutrition and stimulate root growth. Hoping is good for them. They seem to be responding well so far.
Since then, Tuesday, I used 1/8th tsp of Mother Earth Nitro Bat guano 5-3-1 by sprinkling it around the drip line of each of the (8) largest plants, then gently working it into the top soil and wetting it in with a fair spritz of the mix I listed above..

Also, my soil has very little for nutrients. It’s a mix of used soil from 15 years ago (minus some of the old roots from root bound areas) mixed 50/50 with FFOF.

More products have arrived but have NOT been given yet:
Fish Fertilizer by Bloom City 4-2-0.4
Cal-Mag 2-0-0
Root fertilizer by Bloom City - liquid microbes
Bloodmeal (hasn’t arrived yet, but good source of nitrogen)
FF Grow big 6-4-4 (veg)
FF Tiger Bloom buds &blooms 2-8-4
FF Big Bloom 0-0.5-0.7 (flower)

It looks like a number of Bloom City products, but others mixed in.

I have gone light on fertilizers because I’m new at giving them and I have not wanted to hurt the little ones. But they are bigger and I want to increase things with their next watering.

Any suggestions? And thank you Bill!

The FF nutrients are good.
I might be tempted to try week one of their formulation if your looking to keep them green.
That would be the easiest.
And add microbes to the soil , give it some life.
Love microbial life in my pots. :thumb:

:thanks: Thank you so much for the direction, Bill! I agree that is a good way to go.:high-five::thanks:

They needed watered today, so I will start them on:

1) FF Grow Big seedlings dose of 1/2 tsp per gal of h2o. Some Ingredients include Earthworm castings and kelp.
2) Root Fertilizer says 1 to 2 tsp/g h2o. I’m going to start with 1 tsp. Healthy roots are where it all begins, eh?
3) Myco+ I added 1/8 tsp/g h2o This also gives microbes and helps nutrients be used.

Watered with 250ml nutrient blend for most of the bigger girls and 200ml to the smaller girls.

Got a PAR meter and rearranged the biggest BBC to be in with the group of larger plants under the light that is 50%, leaving the smallest babes under the 40%. PAR values run from 390’s to high 400’s, center under the 50% light runs at 502-3. I don’t really understand PAR values yet, but am learning. *Think* I do not want to go over 600, but am keeping it mainly in the low to high 400’s for the most part.

Have a girls outing today and a grandsons football game tonight, then 3 grandkids soccer game(s) tomorrow, so don’t be a worrying if I’m not around much for a couple days… oh who am I kidding??? I have been having insomnia bouts, so I’m sure I’ll be in here looking at something!

Thank you so much Bill, and…

They needed watered today, so I will start them on:

1) FF Grow Big seedlings dose of 1/2 tsp per gal of h2o. Some Ingredients include Earthworm castings and kelp. I will double this next week if they do well with it. I have really small seedlings too, so I don’t want to overdo on them.
2) Root Fertilizer says 1 to 2 tsp/g h2o. I’m going to start with 1 tsp. Healthy roots are where it all begins, eh?

Have an awesome weekend!
Back atcha babe!:high-five::hug:

Football game wasn’t tonight. They are next Monday and Friday. Yep, Granny is losing her marbles! So tonight I’m gonna chill and reread some journals and take more notes. I just love learning from all the peeps here! So much knowledge. It’s grroooovy! Harhar  It IS seriously amazing, and all that plant porn that leaves me drooling!:woohoo::party:

I love this beautiful, wonderful, mystical plant. I really want to treat these girls right. So I’m off to dig into others journals and hopefully to keep learning.

UPDATE NITROGEN DEFICIENCIES

Veg Day 14: 2 weeks since planted 10 (9 Fat Bastards and 1 Blueberry Cheese) as seedlings.

Have had an issue with some plants having lighter green leaves, while others are nice dark green. Consulted for help and agreed it’s a nitrogen deficiency, yesterday watered with FF Grow big and micro nutes. Today, am seeing the beginning reactions from that feed.

Yesterday FB#3

Today FB#3

Today FB#3

A single leaf today FB#3 I see the green darkening.
IMG_4802.jpeg

And FB#3 insides. Nodes are a bit farther apart than shorter FBs. May be different phenos, only time will tell. I want to keep them on the shorter side because my next tent isn’t real tall. Love the shoots are starting nicely.
IMG_4804.jpeg

As for the color, I see a nice change starting just one day after the nutrient treatment. I don’t know why some of my plants are a nice dark green, and some of them lighter green. I mean, why not all?

Above was FB#3.
FBs #1,2&3 were all my first 3 potted and I used the same soil mix on all three.
Below are pics of #2&#3.

FB#2 leaves today. Much like #3s changes
IMG_4808.jpeg

But FB #1 is all about being the deeper lush green, as shown next.

Well I can’t add any more images, so I will continue in the next message! Mainly just addressed the nitrogen issue here and all is going well!

UPDATE LIGHTING AND PAR

I am using ViparSpectra XS1500 Pro lights. Each covers a 2’x2’ and up to 3’x3’ area. I have two of these lights in a 2’x4’ grow tent. You can hook these lights together (up to 20 lights, I think) to just adjust all at the same time, but I am not using that feature. I do think that is an awesome feature tho!

I read some great journals reviewing these lights, I especially loved @7Dust2 ’s journal reviewing these lights. He went into great detail in a super understandable way. :Namaste:

However, these lights must have been upgraded in some features, they must have truly listened to what folks said. The first was not being able to manually turn the lights off, they went to 5%, not to completely off manually with the switch. Mine can be shut completely off. The second is that they made some changes to recommendations, so I will put an image of the current recommendations that came with my light in September of 2024.

IMG_4821.jpeg

It has given me the basics for PAR values and when to increase etc., which is really helpful. 7Dust2 gave his thought processes on light distances and % of light. I found his thoughts extremely helpful and super guidance for others. However, my lights are a tad different, so I know ViperSpectra improved this light along the way. I think they listened and improved accordingly.

I started with the recommended 40% at 11.2-12” above the plant top, measuring every day. When my plants grew to have their first true leaves with the second true leaves starting, I went to 50%. My thinking is that the info says to increase to 60% when the plant has 2 to 3 true leaves. Rather than go straight to 60%, I felt it was good to increase more gradual, thus I went to 50% in the middle of their seedling stage.

Today, my oldest/biggest girls, 8 FB and 1 BBC all have their third leaves coming in nicely so I upped their light to 60%. Their PAR values range from 500 to 600. I have checked on them and see only happy girls, no leaf issues or wilting.

Look how pretty they are!
IMG_4805.jpeg

Then we have the later girls. Three BBC are on Veg Day 9 from their start in their pots on their birth day. And one is a FB on Day 12 since birth. It struggled due to its oval leaves being damaged at its birth, but is now making a comeback (it has a yellow tag - BBC have pink tags).

These girls have been on 40% light since their start. They all have their first true leaves and are starting their seconds. I upped their lights to 50%. Their PAR values are in the 400s.
A group shot… FB is bigger than the 3 BBC.

And here is a petite BBC on her Day 9. Top and inside.
