Grandpa's Second Try - Come Join Us!

Re: Grandpa's second try... Come join us!

Another oldster here nearing Medicare age, I'm climbing aboard for the ride, Grandpa.
Welcome Mikka! Don't be bashful, feel free to join in. Either with suggestions or questions. We have the cream of the crop here in this thread helping me out. Enjoy the show! 😁

Update...
Beans and rockwool are in the water at 5.5. Tomorrow, at about this time, they will go into the rockwool and one directly into the soil. The photos will go into the rockwool, and the auto into the pot directly. We have decided to name them already, and the strains are...
Blue Kush Auto (Audrey)
Critical Mass CBD (Pearl)
Bubba Kush CBD (Bubbette)

I have one question about planting the auto. Would it be advisable to just moisten the soil around where I'm going to plant her out to about 3 in and down about 2 or 3? Then, as she matures, put more water in, and or it in around the sides of the pot. The thought process here is to avoid over-watering, which I am already famous for doing. :tongue-out:

I moisten the entire pot before planting the seed and then add just a few drops of water on top after i have moved the dirt over her. I like to let the dirt warm up a bit after i wet the pot down to let the microbes start doing their thing before the seed goes in the dirt. Usually let them sit in the grow tent for a few hours to get that goin. Gotta love ocd lol. .

Thanks, Toasty. My assumption is that when it's time to bury the rockwool into the soil and the hempy, I should do the same thing. I guess I'll just have to time it, and dampen the soil later today, but not soak it and especially no run-off.
What pH for the CL again?

Yeah, when I lifted the dry pots with the soil in them, they surprised me and weighed two different weights. The one with the most Kind soil weighed more. I guess I could have figured that out, as the CL weighs less to begin with. Duh! I thought about getting a talking bathroom scale to weigh them on, but discarded that idea. Now I wish I hadn't. :tongue-out:
Got it. And never over 6.5. 😉

Smart about the scales .

Yep 10-15 minutes is a perfect time frame for watering those size pots.. dreading when my 5 gal plants get bigger. Will be watering them for a half an hour lol. CL is the same as soil. Honestly couldn't tell you the difference besides that its made out of coco coir instead of peat and spagnum moss. They function the same.

I thought i had told ya, maybe i just posted it in my journal. But i do use my bathroom scale to determine how much soil is in each pot. Works really well lol.

Water a little and let it soak in then water a little more until saturated.
Yes. My only concern is water build up at the bottom of the pot with the kind soil. Since it weighs more, I assume that it is more dense than the CL. I'll just have to keep more track of the weight and make myself more sensitive to it. If the bottom seems to be staying too wet, I'm a put the pot on a little stand that I have that has a checkerboard of holes in it. That may help with air circulation at the bottom. Thanks, PW.
