Grandpa's Second Try - Come Join Us!

Yep 10-15 minutes is a perfect time frame for watering those size pots.. dreading when my 5 gal plants get bigger. Will be watering them for a half an hour lol. CL is the same as soil. Honestly couldn't tell you the difference besides that its made out of coco coir instead of peat and spagnum moss. They function the same.

I thought i had told ya, maybe i just posted it in my journal. But i do use my bathroom scale to determine how much soil is in each pot. Works really well lol.
That's what you get for being so successful and knowledgeable. .
Honestly, that's a problem I wouldn't mind having. 😉

Yes and remember if it's coco your in Gramps it hold thirty percent oxygen at all times making it impossible to over water . Really cool I love coco growing thanks to penny for getting me hooked..

You got this buddy

Yes. My only concern is water build up at the bottom of the pot with the kind soil. Since it weighs more, I assume that it is more dense than the CL. I'll just have to keep more track of the weight and make myself more sensitive to it. If the bottom seems to be staying too wet, I'm a put the pot on a little stand that I have that has a checkerboard of holes in it. That may help with air circulation at the bottom. Thanks, PW.

Do you have any mini rock stones next time you can add to the kind soul bottom layer next go ? This would help airiate better allowing More even faster drying ? Hmmm

Yep keep em off the ground.. have mine on soda bottle crates. Really helps dry the pots evenly. Fabric pots are awesome for that. Thanks gramps i appreciate that man. ..

Look at gro pro net level pot elevators on eBay or amazon buddy . They are awesome I will be buying these ones I have in mind once I can pat pictures others can see and we can describe what they look like or it's like a hard plastic. With mini legs you put your pots on they have it so you can set it to different heights to it's cool . Or milk creates work wonders too ?

Just dont put them on boxes.. when you water it will breakdown the cardboard if it gets wet. I keep finding my clone has fallen over inside my bigger plants cause the box she sits on keeps indenting. Almost forgot about her this morning then i remembered she was supposed to be on that box lol. Cannabis plants are so damn resilient. . Thanks joe for the tip on those pot elevators.. gonna go check em out. .

That's what we are trying to do, Joe. Find a medium that we will get hooked on and be successful with. Hopefully we'll find it in one of these two mediums that we are using this run. Thanks for the kind words and the words of wisdom!

*Slaps forehead. DOH!*
Yeah, we have Clay pellets. I have no idea why I didn't think of them as I was setting up these pots. But, it is now duly noted and I won't forget for next time. Thanks again, Joe!

What Toasty said. They sound really useful. Milk crates are great, but once the plants get 3 or 4 weeks into veg, the milk crates are way too tall, and they have to come out. These just might serve the purpose better.

Progress report...

Audrey was buried in her home and Bubbette and Pearl are in their rock wool cubes, on top of their pots. The light is apparently functioning properly, miraculously. We'll see how this new app truly works tomorrow morning. I must admit that I am feeling halfway nervous and halfway excited to be started.

I feel really good about this one gramps! . hoping the hempy will be the winning solution for you and miss K. Have a blessed Sunday!

Report time...1st of this run.

Temp = 72°
rH = 34%
Gave Audrey a little spritz today. Bubbette and Pearl's RW are both wet. We are going to have to do some rearranging in the tent already. I think we are going to have to remove the milk crates, and use the small plastic platforms that we have. The light is just too close for comfort at 6 in above at its highest point right now. We could also do with more room to more equally distribute the light amongst all three. I'll get a pic in the next day or two and show you what I mean.

Thanks MD. If we can do well in one or the other, I don't care which, then this will be counted a very successful run. :young-plant: :thumbs-up:

Oh PW...
I think we need to raise the temp a little bit in there, and raise the humidity a little bit as well. What went through my mind just now was to use a humidifier and put warm water in it. The water will cool, but the humidity will stay and the temperature will fall a lot more slowly. At least, that's what my logic tells me, mister Spock. :tongue-out:
