Grandpa's Second Try - Come Join Us!

FYI, Another reason why I suggest using a harder 1 gallon pot before fabric is because I would love to show you another way the plants speak to us. When the plant is thirsty instead of lifting the pot, she actually pulls away from the edge of the pot. So I actually put my finger down there to check because I can't always see the edge, and I want the roots to tell me how she is. If my finger fits in between the pot and the soil, it's time to water. I'm unable to lift things so I had to find another way to communicate with my plants needs. Just something cool I learned...;)
That's a nice little trick,, G2H. Now armed with that knowledge, I can actually do a double check on her to determine if she needs water. I can now not only lift the pots to check, but I can also use that finger method while they are in hard containers. Awesome! Well done! :thumb:

I may be confused please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Grandpa already in a 3 gallon?

Also great advice on flowering light requirements.
Nope! Not confused at all. She is now in the 3-gallon final pot.

So your saying the plants will shoot onwards at its tips towards the main when thirsty sorry? Little confused ?

Hi KJ, Sorry to confuse you. I meant that when you look at your pot, you will see a space between your soil edge and the pot. When the soil dries it pulls the moisture in, and pulls the soil in from the edge. By doing this, it leaves space, enough for you to slide a knuckle or two down the inside of your pot. Hope that helps.

Yes, I would think it wouldn't be wise to disturb her now. Especially less than a week after transplant. I'm thinking Walmart plastic 1 gallon pots with their own trays. The least expensive and most efficient way to go, I believe.

Walm*rt is okay too. Dollar store usually have some cheaper pots when the spring comes. They should have trays too.

I agree 100%! Is thread is one of the ones you need to see just how responsive, kind, compassionate and 100% wonderful people are in this community. Hearts are in the right place every time.
may God bless this community and the people contained within it. May He look kindly upon you and shine His countenance upon you!

Enjoy your dinner, and thank you for the well wishes on the posts. I'm looking forward to going over that list. No hurry... Whenever. I really, I'll get back to the story very soon.

Report time...

The numbers today are quite encouraging and puzzling at the same time. If this keeps up, I think I may have to invest in an inline intake fan. Just so we can move the heat out of there a little faster. When we turn the second light on for flowering, it will get a little warm in there for the temperature range it needs to be in. Hopefully we can work it into the budget.

Temp = 79°!
rH = 59%!
Maybe my fingers are telling me incorrectly, but she feels like she's leaning a little bit to the right as you face her. Also, it seems her stem is rather long From soil to first set of leaves. Maybe I've having a "feelical illusion"...IDK.

10-31-17_Jane.jpg

She's got a gangsta lean on, no worries, she's adjusting herself for now, probably leaning towards the light possibly? No requirement for change.

GOOD, her stem should lift her up a bit, in fact, we are hoping she'll take off. Meaning - grow tall and grow more leaves.

I'm a little concerned about the leaves around the plant, but she is no way bothered by it in the middle. That soil was pretty "hot" meaning with lots of nutrients, it really did a number on the under leaves. But she's got so much time. I'm hoping with the stem growth, it means she's hit the bottom and starting to feel her way around. So growth is good, mazel tov!

All engines ahead.

Dear Kelley & Grandpa: Thank you for allowing me to apply the new knowledge that I have found.

Strains For Pains

Diverticular Disease & IBS - K

Kelley has some deep pain and tissue damage that is going to take a while to heal. In fact, I have experience with all her “stuff” minus the knee replacement and wrist joint surgery. So my words may seem really familiar to K, because I know first hand the pain she is facing every day.

The most important part of K’s medical issues is the Diveritcular Disease. This disease is so painful in the gut that my gastro doctor used to compare it to childbirth. I would be rushed into emerg and hooked up right away, you can unfortunately die from this disease if her intestines burst while having Diverticulitis, which is an infection.

The Diverticula expand to the point where a whole could puncture in her gut. Then she has about 20 mins to get to the hospital for surgery. She has to be one tough cookie to get through this pain. I’ve had it since 2008, but it does get easier to manage with shhhmokies and oil.

Also, oil takes twice as long to work long term with people who have bad guts because 60-70% percent of our immune system is located in the gut. We have to heal our gut first, then we can truly see longer term results everywhere else. I am on my oil daily to do this very thing. But at least we have help now to ease the tension, have less diverticulitis attacks, and feeling full after dosing with oil, cuts down on meal portions.

So I’m not gonna tell you how important it is to break up your meals into smaller portions and stretch them out throughout the day, ooops, I just said. hahahaha This was something that really worked for me. Sometimes eating while you’re writing or reading will slow our portions down for our body cause our intestines are weak. The oil is working on that in the meantime. In fact, the oil and compounds go right to the gut and to the head. So literally right now we have an army trying to repair our gut issues.

Now the only strains I would recommend for Diverticular Disease is any kind of Kush. I have used Violator Kush, Purple Kush (not easy to grow), Pink Kush, & Kushy Kush for those pain attacks we can’t avoid. So anything kind of Kush which can be as high as 23-25% THC to even calm a Diverticulitis attack or a meal gone wrong. And it will be instant, you can put an ice pack on your stomach too. It’s very soothing while you lay done and suffer through it.

You almost need to try a few Kushs’ cause they are a fantastic genetics for healing physically. It’s a strong Indica, with low amounts of Sativa. But I’m here to say, there is relief. It’s not a fast ride girlfriend, but you will be able to sit and walk a lot easier than before. So this is a major bonus that I can cheer you on, because life doesn’t have to spent at the mercy of the doctors.

Chronic back pain - G
Knee replacement and hand and wrist joint surgery - K

Grandpa your back pain can be addressed by the THC and your CBD will work on the inflammation in your back. I make recommendations on how to address your pain below for K's knee and wrist pain.

----------------------------

Diabetes G

“This is from SweetSue's class notes...thought it may help you. The strain recommendation is also Durbon Poison.

"I believe the cannabinoid I'm looking for diabetes is THCV.

From the Herb Company's list of good chemovars for diabetic treatment:

Doug’s Varin

This sativa may be a tricky flower to find. While it is sometimes available in California, Doug’s Varin is a strain bred to contain high levels of THCV.

THCV is a mildly psychoactive cannabis strain with a host of promising health benefits. In a Efficacy and Safety of Cannabidiol and Tetrahydrocannabivarin on Glycemic and Lipid Parameters in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Parallel Group Pilot Study | Diabetes Care of 62 diabetic patients, scientists found that THCV treatment successfully improved fasting insulin levels and reduced blood glucose.

Doug’s Varin contains both THC and THCV. In fact, a test performed by Steep Hill Labs back in 2014 found that this bud contained about 19 percent THC and 15 percent THCV. That means this is one potent bud. Doug’s Varin is thought to have a zippy, energetic high that’s perfect for daytime consumption.

Black Beauty

Black Beauty is another rarity. However, based on the small amount of research available, this strain is a great match for patients with diabetes. At this time, this flower produces a 2:1 THC to THCV ratio. However, breeders hope to play up this strain’s ability to also produce decent amounts of CBD.

With strong anti-inflammatory properties and the possible ability to improve insulin sensitivity, THCV and CBD are the two cannabinoids that have shown the most promise in diabetes."

Anything to assist with Cardiac and Pulmonary systems - G

Well you're vapin' so that is one of the best things you can do. The CBD is important but I wonder if the EVOO would be just as good because it's an Omega3 enriched oil.

------------------------

Arthritis - K

Kush Cream or salve options. I will share a recipe with you but I haven’t tried it yet but it’s pretty easy and I trust the maker.

------------------------

Depression G

Depression - K

Anxiety - K

I have addressed these ailments below, I just wanted to acknowledge them in my list.

-----------------------------

Recommendations:

80 % Indica – 20 % Sativa
Inflammation: CBD Ratio 1:1
Pain: 23 - 25% THC

What does this mean?

Indica is so great for body pain. Sativa great for uplifting your day. I’ve tried one without the other and I prefer an overall euphoria. I love the balance, but how does one effectively balance both strains without triggering anxiety and without couchlock?

I recommend 80% Indica because it’s going to relax your body tension from the pain. It will address your pain immediately, not entirely, but you feel your body calm down. We want to bring Kelley’s DD pain down to a 5 when it shoots up to a 9 or 10.

You back pain which leads to neck pain and headaches can be addressed through your indica. All your aches and pain will be targeted. So that is why I lumped up physical ailments together.

Now to address your anxiety, depression and sadness that may come about, I recommend a 20% sativa always with your indica. It’s so uplifting to have that Sativa grace your blend so you can feel better if you’ve had a sad time.

Now if you’re going out or doing really busy stuff, you could try a 50/50 indica sativa, but it should be taken while you’re both getting physical stuff done. I don’t want to trigger your anxiety or heighten your brain senses if you are just sitting down for the evening. You can blend and take different strains at different times so you can really nail down your daily routine.

It’s my hope you both will create a meds routine that is symbiotic to your coupleness, if you haven’t already done so. A couple that heals together kicks a*s together. Again, this is just a hope that the meds will bring you guys even closer together.

(BTW, I used to booo couples walking hand n hand down the street cause I thought their pda was uncalled for…lol. I didn’t realize you don’t have to be like other couples to be in love. I have since stopped booing, but sometimes I still want to. ;))

Did you know that by growing you are generating new brain cells as you challenge yourself? Just by growing you are generating precious brain cells that will eventually replace your depression. Depression, anxiety, ptsd, neuro degen diseases all darken our brain cells so that they don’t function anymore. That’s what’s happening to me.

My goal is to study everything that is 420 for 5000 hours per year. That is a 4 times the amount I estimated before I got sick. I feel that will far exceed that cells that are dead or dying at the same time. Hoping to reroute my neuro pathways that would be die in a matter of time, growing and my oil allows me to do this. Your meds and grow will rehab you as you go.

So even if it’s boring or complicated sometimes, you want that. As long as you zipper down your tent, you may as well zipper down your cognitive barriers because learning is your greatest cure. Oh and laughter, can’t forget the very thing that unifies us.

Lastly, CBD & THC must be used together to effectively heal over the long term. There are many medical strains that are 14% plus for CBD and maybe 1 % THC. This is great for patients who have not tried Cannabis before and are open to healing. But, it will be at a slower rate and I’ll tell you why.

THC attacks pain right away. Hits that neurotransmitter and helps numb the pain. But that THC (and CBD) only stays for 4 hours. When that THC is gone the pain will most likely return. CBD works with that THC to reduce inflammation while the THC addresses the pain.

Together they work in unison to address both dificiencies. Now eventually the CBD is going to bring the inflammation down to wear you won’t need the THC at the high doses anymore. Thus, bringing your THC use down, but still keeping the CBD high for further healing of other medical conditions.

Therefore, the high CBD low THC strains are good for maintenance and I will def get into this area once I’ve healed myself. I also think it would be a fantastic thing to grow a high CBD plant to blend with other strains for more balance too. It doesn’t hurt when you have the odds stacked against you.

Strain Recommendations – Just the beginning*

CBD Shark Shock & Critical Kush (From Seedsman – 420 Sponsor)

You already have this!!!
“CBD Shark Shock is a CBD-rich hybrid of Mr. Nice's Shark Shock together with a high-CBD strain. It is 80% indica and 20% sativa and produces a CBD:THC ratio of 1:1. CBD Shark Shock is a short, sturdy plant that flowers in 8 weeks indoors. Outdoors it will be ready to harvest in October in northern latitudes.

Yield can be increased significantly by allowing it to go on for just a few days longer. Its flavour is rather fruity with underlying notes of onion and garlic. The effect of CBD Shark Shock is one of complete relaxation and it is recommended for the treatment of symptoms such as pain, anxiety and inflammation without the powerfully intoxicating effects produced by many high-THC strains.”

AAAND --------------------

Critical Kush takes its genetics from its two parent strains viz. Critical Mass and Barney's own OG Kush plant. This is a potent indica cannabis strain that grows vigorously during the vegetative period.

Critical Kush is a medium-sized plant growing to a height of 100 - 110 cm. It does well in all growing environments especially indoors where it will produce yields of 650 gr/m2 in 55 - 60 days flowering.

Large amounts of resin are produced making buds extremely sticky when fresh with lab. tests revealing a THC level of 25% with 1.8% CBD. The aroma and perfume are somewhat earthy and very typically Kush-like. This potent marijuana is an ideal evening smoke as it is a perfect relaxant and its pain-relieving properties only enhance its efficacy as a therapeutic strain of cannabis.”
