Grandpa's Second Try - Come Join Us!

Mad...my apologies for not responding earlier. We do have an exhaust fan, to keep the air fresh in the tent. It is in line, at the top of the tent, so it may not be removing a lot of the humidity. However, it might be. I think we're going to see if opening the flap in the back of the tent will help matters and bring in the air from the outside, which is a bit more moist. Thank you for your post and your suggestions! It will go into my little notebook I keep on my phone. May God bless. By the way, please stick around and see how this works out. We will be starting a new grow when this finishes, positively or not. The new grow will be a photo in the tent, and an outdoor plant come springtime. So a journal will be happening for that.

Great to hear gramps! And I think Santana OT had some quality suggestions for you. I didn't realize your humidity was lower in the tent than it was in the room.... so the humidifier outside of the tent, near wherever your air is coming in from, seems like great advice! Suntan has been a great guide for me since I started a few weeks back :) I will gladly follow along with your grows! Like I said sometimes it takes a village I've always been extremely passionate about helping those who use cannabis for their medical needs. My brother has epilepsy and it pains me so much that our government would have him take 10 horse pills over cultivating and using a much safer, all natural remedy. Best wishes and sending those blessings right back at you be well.

Pots are still heavy, so no water or anything at all today. The girls are continuing to deteriorate, I can post pics if you guys wish. The good news is that thanks to Growant I found a great water only or seed to harvest soil from a company called Build A Soil. In my phone conversation with them, I was told that it could be mixed with the Fox Farms we already have, and it will be able to be used for quite a few Cycles with a little bit of top-dressing of compost. You can also top dress with EC and/or other ammendments to help with the amendingas well. I ordered a 1 cubic foot bag, so we'll have plenty for the next grow. Remember, the next girl will be a photo, and I'll need a lot more guidance for this type of plant, and it will be my first time trying the photo. Please don't give up on me, guys!

Good to hear Gramps!!
We'll get you through this one. It's going to take a little bit though. Patience is going to be key to getting back on track!
It's not drying out fast bc the roots haven't filled the pot out yet.
But it is imperative that your roots dry out a bit. So we shall hurry up and wait! Lol

I'm so happy you were able to talk to someone and get squared away. Jeremy has built an amazing company with Build a soil. I suggest all growers check them out.
I have a huge smile on my face Grandpa. I'm so happy we were able to chat yesterday. Your growing will become a lot more simplified. Have a great day.

Thanks again for all your help when we talked yesterday, Grow. I sincerely enjoyed our talk as well. I believe it will be shipped today or tomorrow, and will receive it in 3 to 5 business days after that. I am really excited that we can have a ready-made soil that I was so confused on trying to blend myself.
Thanks for those encouraging words, BW. That means a lot. However...asking me to have patience is like asking a you'll not to be stubborn. .
I'll do my best though.

As Blazin said, give it some time and let them dry out a bit, your low RH in the tent with both lights going may have been some of the problem but watering too often in soil and not allowing the roots to seek out the moisture to develop also causes a lot of problems.

Think of the roots as a cardiovascular system in the human body and the leaves as the lungs, you and Kelley are the heart & brain supplying the needed goodies at the right time to the system that needs it most.

Its kind of a weird comparison but that's how I look at it, we need the plants as much as they need us to survive healthy, but they do have built in mechanism's that allow them to shut down certain processes and go in to survival mode when things are not ideal.

Right now they are probably building roots as your pots dry out, they had more moisture than the leaves could use and process under the conditions above the soil so the growth shut down and the buds started using the energy stored in the leaves, as the roots grow and seek out the moisture left it your pots, they will send up orders for new leaves to replace the dead leaves so look for growth developing at the lower node areas, once you see that start, the plant is telling you it is healing.

I know they look tough now and you feel you are loosing them, but give it some time, I think they will surprise you in a week or so, let the roots work their way to the remaining moisture in the pots while you get the conditions in the tent stabilized before watering again. :circle-of-love:

Hey grandpa how you been? Been catching up on your journal and sad to see more problems cropping up with this grow. Theres lots of great info above that could be the causing problems but one i havent seen mentioned yet is pests.
Specifically Fungus Gnats. An infestation of them could explain alot of your symtoms. Do you have any neem oil or sticky traps on hand? Diaotomaceous earth sprinkled on top of the soil can also end their life cycle.

There is also a product called "Gnat Nix". Very easy to use....you sprinkle about half an inch on top of your soil and cover the top completely. It prevents the gnats from coming or going and they die. If you use it in conjunction with the water and hydrogen peroxide treatment it will knock out gnat issues really quickly. But don't use the water and hydrogen peroxide mix until your soil is almost completely dry.

Don't flush. Let the soil dry. The roots need it. Move the fan to blow over the soil to help dry it out.
I have a feeling your roots are in need of some attention.
Let's try and get that soil to dry out. Then we'll go after the pH and the microbes!!

Agreed! I still recommend a complete repot and soil change if you are up for it...hoping they pull through! .-.

Thanks for the well wishes for the girls. I have a doctor's appointment an hour away from home today, plus we are going to visit our grandchildren for just a little while. Will check on the girls before we leave, but I have a sneaky suspicion they will still be deteriorating. Hopefully, they will prove me wrong. I'll post up some report when I can. It will include humidity and temperature numbers.
As far as the fungus gnats... We had enough of those the first grow. We actually know what you look for Here. There is no sign of any insect activity anywhere in the tent. Great thought, but not applicable in this grow, I believe. It's great to know about those products, though.

That worked for me. I took her out, flushed all the soil of the roots and repotted her. That really worked Well.

LOL, Grow! I wish I could say that they are perking up, but they're not. As I felt them this morning, I felt the leaves very crispy toward the tips. The one positive thing is that it appears that the top buds are starting to fill in a little. I gave them both a little pinch and wow did my fingers smell good. Here are some pics, so you can all see for yourself, and possibly tell me whether to keep on, or just call it a fail and move on to the photo. Humidity is still down in the twenties, but the temperature is writing at between 75 and 79 degrees. Elsa's pot is getting light, but Emma's is still fairly heavy. It does appear that they are drying out a little quicker than they were, though.
