Grandpa's Second Try - Come Join Us!

Why do you recommend doing a feeding with bloom nutes before grow nutes pw?? I've never heard of doing that before to be honest.
He made sure to add 'as long as it has some N'
being an autoflower, I assume, he was basically picturing the transitioning between veg and flower.
I think it's sound advice given the type of cannabis.

Super Job! Grandpa & Kelley! :thumb:

I looked back at your first journal progress this far in, and all I can say is what a difference! :goodjob:

Having a journal to look back on is a great asset, and it looks like both of you are well on your way to rewarding success!

PW is right, they need some food, just a taste to tease them and as they respond, slowly give em more. Water inside working out, less in, a little more out, tease the roots to spread, the close ones to the stem will get the juice up to the plant for a taste and the others will go looking for more!:thumb:

Phosphorus and especially potassium are important even in veg. Potassium transports other nutrients through the vascular system. a dose of all 3 (n-p-k) will start them off on the right track. After the first dose of bloom you can switch to regular grow formula. The "Lucas" does away with grow and just uses micro and bloom. Cannabis doesn't need really large amounts of nitrogen.

IT...thanks for asking that question and saving me the typing effort. . great minds think alike... :thumb:
BW...while your answer makes great sense to even someone as uneducated in this area as I am, I was wondering if you could get a little more in detail so that it penetrates this thick head of mine. Thanks in advance!
OT...those kind words are really appreciated. Also, thank you for checking back on the old grow Journal. I check back as well, but without the pics, it doesn't mean much yet. I am just taking what I have learned and soaked into my head and applying it. Yes, I have had and will have a lot of stupid questions, but I want the details now, not just the overall look at things.

We took some pics this morning to illustrate how the growth is going since the watering yesterday morning. Kelly says that the bottom leaves of Elsa are starting to droop down, so this afternoon at lights on we will give them that feeding. As you guys recommend, we will feed them a little bit out to the leaf line, then put some around the outer edges of the pots, so they have some of the good stuff out away from the plant for the routes to find. Tomorrow we will be going to pick up the clip for the light, and the battery for the pH meter. We had to to sure our bills got paid and we can be fed for the month before spending that money.

PW sums it up well.

Bloom is like dinner, grow is like breakfast, you want to feed them lunch.

I'm a little medicated so if that only makes sense in my head, I get it....lol

Here are the girls. Emma is now 21 days old and Elsa 19 days old. When I felt them, they seemed to be a little small for their age, but I'm still learning the different feels as they grow. Who they seemed to be big enough? Emma is about three and a half or four inches tall and Elsa about an inch behind her.

They just had a little drink of water yesterday, and the feeding will happen when we go lights on this afternoon. I will be very curious to see how they react to their first feeding. It's great to know that they seem to be growing well, IT. Thanks.

They just got their feeding, at a rate of 4 milliliters per gallon of Bloom as advised. Each of them got about 1/2 cup around the base out to the edge of the leaves and then about a pint or so around the edges of the pot. We will use the other remaining half gallon split between the two later on this evening after what we used already has had a chance to soak in well. It tends to pool around the top of the soil, so we don't put a lot at any one time for fear of it getting to the middle of the pots as it's soaking in. I hope that makes sense. If not, I'll try to make it a little more clear.

Thanks, IT. We are certainly hoping so.

We finally got the new light hung that IT so generously sent us. As promised, here are two pictures of them in the tent.

I think we actually got the timer to work. If we'll be known for sure at 8 p.m. tonight when lights off happens. And yes... I know they are uneven. We have to wait for our son to get here to put the ratchet on it. But it's up! .

Great job!!;

YES!! The timer is working! That will make our life a lot easier. Kelley was up all night long because she had to do her prep for her colonoscopy this morning at 9 a.m. Obviously she feels like crap. She had to travel an hour away to get there, so our in home helper took her. Therefore, I am taking a bit of an advantage in their absence to medicate and listen to some awesome classic rock. I just stuck my head into the 10th to check the temps by feel. The Air does not feel like it has warmed much if any at all. I will ask our helper how the girls look when they get back this afternoon. Until then, they feel wonderful to me!

Not much happening except some growth since my last post. They appear to be very happy, so we did nothing with them yesterday. I have a feeling that a watering and feeding will be due in the next day or two. I am planning on using about 4 milliliters per gallon each of Grow and Micro Blast. Also, a few drops of Mammoth P in the water.
The new light does not seem to be heating up the tent perceptively at all. I'm willing to bet that the fans are helping to keep any extra heat away. We have the clip on fan set to blow redirected air from the side of the tent over the top of the girls very gently. Just enough to move the leaves a little bit. Their stocks theme very much stronger than the ones from the last grow.
End of update...
