Grandpa's Second Try - Come Join Us!

Nute burn? Light burn? We may have to rethink the feeding and go with water only this time. Any thoughts? This is Elsa. Emma is doing just great. I wonder if the two-day difference in age is creating some kind of issue...

Good morning! The girls got about a half galloneach of water from the bubbler. The water was applied around the leaf line as best we could and then the rest of the half gallon went around the edges of each pot. Emma is now about 7 inches tall, and seems to be doing a little stretching. Elsa is about 2 inches shorter and a lot more bushy because she seems to want to have no stretching at all yet in comparison to Emma. I'm told they both look beautiful, though. Emma is now 27 days old and Elsa 25 days old. I don't think that the age difference should be making that big of a difference in the growth patterns, so I'm wondering if possibly Elsa has a bit more Indica genetics and Emma a little more sativa genetics. Just some random thoughts on my part.

Kelley asked me a couple of questions with a couple of ideas she thought of. I really don't have an answer for either one, so I thought I would ask all of you guys. She was wondering if soft easy music would be good to play to them. I don't see why not, but I don't know enough to offer an opinion one way or the other. The second idea was to try a plant outside directly in the ground. Dig a hole, fill that hole with the extra soil mix we have, and plant a seed. It would be in the corner of our backyard underneath the eaves of the house. She would be mostly in the shade except for the early morning sun and be protected by fencing and the house. The weather here is running in the high 80s to low 90s and down into the mid to high 60s at night and will probably be close to that for the next couple of months at least. California is a strange place for weather at times. What do you guys think of these two thoughts?

IT...Emma is under our original light. Elsa is under the one you sent. They are about 18 to 20 inches above each plant. The one you sent is a tad higher then our original one. Good thought...

Hmm well its definitely two different phenotypes then.. id say go for it. Ive seen lots of dudes growing autos outdoors and it goes very well for them. Id try it out what do you have to lose? Ive heard music is good for plants.. classical music being the best. But i think i learned in class or a book from something where they feed off of the vibrations from the sound or something weird like that, this was like 15 years ago when i was in middle school. So dont quote me on that one lol.

And now that you mention it, I seem to remember reading something along those lines about music and vibrations as well. I think we'll give it a shot. I also think that was a good idea as well about the outdoor planting. I think we'll do that, possibly even tomorrow. Thanks, Ford your opinions, IT.

Play them what you like Grandpa...crank up that classic 70's on two Kraig rear shelf speakers and let them know who's boss! :thumb:

Opinions? Thoughts?

These were taken this morning. About 24 hours after their watering. I am told that some of the leaves are yellowing? When I feel them they feel like normal. With this kind of description and the feel I get, I guess, I think I need some help here.

Elsa is having some sort of problem and emma is starting to experience the same issues maybe.. do you know the ph of the water you are giving them? Not sure what the issue is though.. sort of looks like the same problems that happened last time may be happening again. Sorry to say.. maybe it could be the nute solution is old and expired or a stored improperly and has gone bad. Just throwing ideas out there.

I agree with Toast, starting to look a bit like last time but with a more developed plant, maybe back off watering but when you do, mix in 1/4 nutes...move to watering only around the edge...let the roots seek out the moisture. Watch the leaf tips...when they start to droop on 1/4- 1/3 of the plant, give them a small drink and see what happens...remember you have nutes in the premixed soil already that stay there until the root needs it.

In soil and in hydro the root system is the heart of the plant and developing a massive root system is the key to success, so try to spread them out slowly but surely making them grow those roots down and out from the stem.

Pretty soon you will start to notice roots growing out of those smart pots and the nice thing about the smart pots is they will actually give you a idea of how spread out they are and how deep when start popping out the sides.

Kelley is doing a great job and the pictures are the key so keep it up...remember slow and steady beats all odds every time!:thumb:

Kelley tells me they are worse this morning. Pics will follow this post. I am also going to have her measure the distance between the lights and the plants. Maybe that's what's causing it. That was just a thought, as we have been watering that way that you described from the beginning of, OT. To be honest, I am beginning to feel a bit panicky and really disappointed with myself. Thanks for the input, guys.

Don't get discouraged, don't look too bad yet.
As others mentioned back off the nutes and just double check in\out-ph on next watering (if there is any exit), and yeah double check the light distance and even if in range maybe up it an extra inch or two for little less stress and watch\monitor.

Well, I cannot feel any crunchiness in the leagues, but I'm told that they are getting quite yellow on the bottom. We took out the milk crates and placed the girls on the floor of the tent, and then adjusted the lights to 16 inches above the tops of them. Maybe with that, and letting them dry a bit more than we have, it will help them get better. Any other thoughts, opinion, recommendations Etc would be appreciated a bunch. To be honest, when Kelly told me this morning my heart dropped to my ankles.

I hate to admit this HUGE newb mistake... But I I need collected to have Kelley check the pH of the water we have been adding to the bubble bucket. We just ran a ph and it came out as a whopping 8.2. I think I found what the trouble is. Unfortunately, we have nothing but household items at this point to lower the ph. I know you can use white vinegar to increase it, but I have no clue what to use to lower it to the range it needs to be. Little help, please? I feel like such an idiot!
