Grandpa Likes To Squeeze Stuff: Solventless Extracts, Rosin, Pressed Here!

Probably, but I should be able to squeeze two pucks formed with a 40mm diameter pre-press at a time. As they can be up to 1/2 oz (14gm) of flower each, that's eight to sixteen presses. A DIY puck insertion tool will help place them without a lot of the fiddle farting around I've seen in most videos. I figure I'll be able to do a press every 5 - 6 minutes, once I get into the swing of things. Who knows? If it takes longer, so be it.

With a 4x4 plate, and loading 14g into a bag properly (takes me a couple minutes). To de-stem, weigh rough, break up, load bag, cut bag, place bag, press, scrape, place in storage and clean scrape tool...maybe 12 minutes.

With the 2.5x2.5 plate I could do about a half ounce an hour.

With the 4x4 and a 12 ton....I can do about 2 an hour. I could see how that could be doubled with a press plates that do an ounce at a time.

I've never really looked at stuff that does more than an ounce at a time.

I've also found that loading bags sloppy gives me a lot more clean up.

Good luck! and enjoy!

I may need to pick up one of these puck makers. Do you guys make the puck and then put that into a bag? I’ve been de-stemming and then manually feeding the bag which may account for why I have more blowouts. I’m still doing things the hard way...it appears. :thedoubletake:

I’d love to sit and watch an oz at a time be squeezed. You guys are awesome!

That's what I've seen on the Dabpress videos. It seems to work well.

Thanks for doing it the hard way. All that time dreaming and saving hasn't been wasted. I've been watching and learning as others went through the school of hard knocks. :nerd-with-glasses::cheesygrinsmiley:

The DabPress unit is great so far. I love it and am finding it to work very well! Once you learn how the apply the pressure properly to allow the flow of resins then your laughin! Using the right sized micron bags are important as well to get the best quality and yields
He Dutch and Gramps and any other pressers out there.

I just got my Dab Press in and I am trying to figure out what I will need to order to be able to use it. Seems like the unit is pretty much a plug and play unit. Didn't come with any bags or anything for doing the actual pressing. So my question to you veterans of the press game is this.....what all do I need to acquire to be able to use it and use it right and as efficiently as possible. Do I need a puck or mold? I know I need the bags but what micron level should I get? Why are there so many options and what are the different options used for? I want to order everything I need so I don't have to keep ordering different stuff and have to wait forever to try it out. Thanks in advance you old fart (Gramps) and everyone else!

You may want to give it a month or so. Dabpress says "We Are Going to Offer 10% Money Off from 10th to 20th April 2019" and their standard promotion of 5% off on all orders over $399 is good until April 20th. I don't know if we will be able to combine the two.

No! Just dried and cured buds!
How dry do buds need to be. I was kind of wondering if fresher harvests wouldn't produce some really tasty rosin....do you need to wait for it to reach a certain level of dryness to be able to press it?

Decarbing is only for when your using rosin or concentrated in edibles! The THCa needs to be activated and turned into THC with the heat of decarbing
Another question for you on this......could you use regular buds if you were pressing to use in baked goods since the baking will act as the decarb process. Has anyone tried that method?

Hahaha! Jarhead!

The different micron screens are for different presses. You don’t want the same micron for flower as you do kief, etc. I use 120 for flower, but really only because that’s what I got. They seem to work well on flower. I use raw parchment paper but there are better products now.

Fresh usually equates to more green taste. Cured bud is better. However, if you’re going to use it for edibles then it wouldn’t really matter IMO. I prefer properly dried and cured for dabs.

I often make the rosin then decarb it. 220F in the oven until it stops bubbling and it’s decarbed. Usually between 15-20 minutes. Then, I add the decarbed rosin to whatever I’m making/cooking. For me it’s usually olive oil capsules, but I’ve used it for butter and baking. Much less smell and taste in the final product compared to herb.

Technically I believe rosin /bho/pho the thc is already been activated. Hint when taking a dab you are not supposed to hold it in like a bong RIP lol. As the hit from dabs hit your mouth it starts doing its job. Inhale / exhale .

I thought that also, but it’s simply not true. I’ve made olive oil capsules from rosin that was not decarbed and rosin that was and it’s night and day. There may be some decarbing taking place while squishing, but I believe it’s not complete because the squeezing process is too short. That’s only a guess though.

Ok....so we have 120 micron bags because thats what Gramps has on hands......any other recommendations? I mean if I am ordering...I would rather order the stuff that you guys have already learned lessons from and figured out the best way to do it. I see 37 micron, 90 micron, 120 micron, and 160 micron....hmmm. I assume they are used for different functions but what LOL.

Do you guys use the pucks and molds as well? Do I need something specific to smoke it when I finally get stuff pressed? LOL...man I am so lost. I should have been paying better attention to this thread.

Oh the pic lol sorry .

Is this something I should consider investing in? LOL....sorry for the barrage of questions on your thread Gramps!

Not all flower is the same. Similarly, Kief is smaller so you need a tighter screen (smaller hole—for marines LOL!) 120 micron will get you started. You’ll figure out what works best for your needs quickly. I’m buying a puck mold (or making one if I’m not too lazy).

There are many smoking options. If you already have a small bong you could just get a quartz banger, a carb cap, and a dab tool. I also use silicon pads and silicon containers. I just went and bought a nectar collector too and I love it. You’ll need to watch a few videos and figure out what is best for you. If you don’t want to wait, just plop a dab on your favorite flower, in a pipe, and hit it that way. That’s how I got addicted... :cheesygrinsmiley:

I saw this on sale... I couldn't help myself and I bought it. I have been researching presses for a while and have decided to go with the one Dutch is using. Anyway, lookee what I got!

Oh shit......what is all this? Am I gonna need all those tools and shit to do this?
