Grandpa Likes To Squeeze Stuff: Solventless Extracts, Rosin, Pressed Here!

Nothing special really. I think I'm into it for $125 bucks. You can make yer own without much effort or expense. Like anything I guess. Its really not rocket science. Heat + pressure = oil

Press and stand from harbor freight. The plates, PID or controller was from the zon.

I'm looking into a pneumatic press for version two, but I'm in no rush really.
What are you changing and why?

Right now the press I have is hand controlled, which works fine, but i have no exact measurement point (or idea of number of lbs of pressure) for process improvement. I just crank it a bit too warm the bud, then crank it down a bit more to get the squish and oil "flowing".

With a pneumatic one I'll be able to dial things in with more consistency. Get a little closer to those high priced ones you see at a fraction of the cost. But, it is an increase of cost for me. But, for the consistency i'l pay for it.... at one point

Wouldn't you be able to do the same with hydraulics? Generally you'd be able to get higher pressures, and squish more at a time. They must have adjustable pressure regulators for hydraulic systems.

I believe so, yes.

I can see this turning into the same as a seed obsession...just gotta have the latest...
All because of you MFers! :reading420magazine:

Thanks, I think:hmmmm:

All I want is to press 8 ounces to a pound in an hour or so to make up my meds. I'm thinking one of Dabpress' 10 ton units with 3" x 5" plates. I don't have, or need a hydraulic press for anything else. This should handle about an ounce per press.

I've tried to contact Dabpress twice to find the diameter of the piston so that I can determine if a locally available pump will do. I've not received an answer in over two weeks.

That sounds perfect IMO.

I hear ya. @Old Salt I’m considering a “store-bought” just to get a more even heating of the blocks. I may just purchase the blocks and use my Press.

That’s what my buddy did! And it’s been working wonderfully so far, although he is still getting his process/temps dialed in.

@Old Salt

I probably won’t make it to my buddy’s before the weekend, but I’ll get that measurement for you!

Just make sure you insulate the plates from the press or it will pull the heat out of the plates unevenly.

The dp-hr10t35v has bamboo blocks between the plates and the frame. That's another reason to buy 'ready made' rather than the caged plates, and building my own frame. The caged plates don't appear to have that insulation.

Another good point. My kids think my middle name is money... :hookah: little do they know I ain’t leaving anything... :cheesygrinsmiley: LMAO!

8 ounces to a pound in an hour is very optimistic.

Probably, but I should be able to squeeze two pucks formed with a 40mm diameter pre-press at a time. As they can be up to 1/2 oz (14gm) of flower each, that's eight to sixteen presses. A DIY puck insertion tool will help place them without a lot of the fiddle farting around I've seen in most videos. I figure I'll be able to do a press every 5 - 6 minutes, once I get into the swing of things. Who knows? If it takes longer, so be it.
