Gov's PlatinumLED Adventure With DocBud's High Brix Kit

I really should pick up some canning jars I harvest in two days lol.
I know you're not on cloud 9 about yield and all but I think for the minimum work required by hempy you knocked it out of the park.

Nice harvest, quality is what matters in the end. Enjoy, my friend :hookah:

Thanks guys. Don't get me wrong, for a fairly bullet-proof strain, this 8-ball kush is some really nice weed. In hempy-style, it manifests the indica side the most with a very strong fuel, earthy aroma. It's not known for it's arm-length colas or 20% potency, but there are piles of those little sticky rocks and 18% aint too shabby.

In high brix it is stretchy like a big dog and I did a shitty job of training it (I based my training on it's growth pattern in the hempy buckets...mistake), but it's just starting to emit a gentle hashy scent of its own too. It's gotten so tall (6 feet!) and my bamboo sticks aren't long enough so I'm going to tape some together this weekend too before she gets any more floppy.

The scent is not nearly as strong as that being circulated by the Blue Dream(s) right now. Its colas have already started to stack and despite my efforts she's rocking along nicely.

Apparently, when I brix'd them last weekend I had it a little hot for their taste as the parts of the plants I sprayed the most have some burnt looking leaves. It's affected both the bigger plants but not so much the clones which I find interesting. The clones all have nice, waxy leaves and are strong and healthy in every way. The leaves on the two big plants started by yellowing and have a few brown spots on them. I've plucked the worst and left the rest as they still seem firm and viable. I gave energy yesterday and will give them de-stress tomorrow. They aren't due for brix until Sunday at the earliest, but I'm reluctant in that regard. If I do brix them then, I'll make it weaker this time and see how they respond...unless of course someone knows a preferable alternative.

Give those bd just water for a time bro. Theyre not liking the heavy nutes...either that or the lights are a hair too close? But other than that....geeeezus!!! Youre gonna get some monster hb buds...bud lol :)
Man, I bet youre excited seeing that every day! I would be :)

Killin it Gov. Can't get enough of your sexy ladies. :bravo:

:Namaste:

gov, great looking girls! How long you got for them?

They just finished week 4. So, not quite half way. ;)

U say u got 4-6 ounces per plant how long did u veg & how many plants did u have?

Number of plants doesn't affect yield (just saying based on your questions ^), but you need to veg long enough. For me, I started with about 6 weeks, but these days that number is 8 weeks minimum.

Thanks man. Yes, they're good company most days. since the back to back cat drenches, I've gone water, water, energy, water, but good eyes. The only issue these plants had was getting full-strength brix and ALOT of it at one time. I torched a generation of fans with that stuff, but they really shook it off and are doing well.

Here's some of the detritus I pulled from them this morning.

Hi Gov! Those 8BKs are awesome, is so nice to see big ones not tied down or scrogged but you may need to cut a hole in the ceiling next.

The plant and bud porn is great but am also hoping for an update on your new inline fan. I've been considering the 4/5" version but am curious if they are really as quiet as claimed. Would love your thoughts after you give it a good whirl.

Many thanks for keeping us drooling over your lanky ladies!

I know I'm way late, but congrat's on a very nice hempy harvest.
I've been reading your journal (sub'd) and just now caught up.
Looking forward to the HB finish.

Welcome tokezilla. :welcome:

Regarding the S&P TD-Silent inline fan. I'm a believer. Although I haven't gotten my configuration the way I want it, I've gone ahead and incorporated it into the grow for some weeks now. I'll start by saying I was mildly put out when I got it and realized it needed to be wired, but after talking to a HVAC guy, I've found that is actually common with high-end, commercial equipment which these truly are.

I didn't have a switch handy so we decided to wire it to the "high flow" setting permanently in the "always on" condition when plugged in, which I don't regret at all. Now, in looking at the numbers, I realized the 4" model + 15" can-lite filter isn't nearly enough air flow to filter the space I'm using. For a tent up to 4'x8', I'd say this unit is ideal, and it truly is silent comparatively. Even on the high setting it's like a gentle whoosh and there is no comparison to the eco-plus 4" inline fan I had used prior (which was only rated at 175cfm).

It's my intention to get ANOTHER one, but this time get the 6" model as it will just meet the cfm I should have for my room. The 4" model will get relegated to the cabinet which it should be well-suited for. So, I will also need to get a bigger can filter too.

These fans get a big :thumb: from me.

good to know, when I do my proper set up when I move into a house this summer, Ill probably have to pick one up. My fan was cheap and powerful but its louder than my air conditioner and tower fan combined.

Get an S&P when you can, jinn.
Gov't's spot on! A great fan that is quiet as hell, even running at full speed. And for anyone that hears you have to wire it yourself and feel that may be a difficult project...forget about it! It is as easy as can be...Open the casing and you literally just have to unscrew two screws, put you wires in the slots, screw the screws back in, and you're done. Easy peasy! :thumb:

I just started a new job a few weeks ago, keeping me from doing what I intended to do when I joined up... come out of the lurking shadows and actually participate a little, so as to keep learning more.

Hey man :)

Your grow is one of the grows I looked at the most when deciding on my setup. I just wanted to pop in, and say thank you. Keep up the awesome grows, I think these journals do a ton to help a lot growers, it sure helped me.

jinn, this is truly one of those "investment" items that pays back in intangibles too. If you NEED the stealth it provides, the cost becomes almost moot, as these simply deliver. If you want it quiet just to be homeowner/guest-friendly then it does that too. Remember too, this is an industrial-grade fan and is often used in healthcare...I checked.

Yep, I used a salvaged 20' cord from a displaced vacuum cleaner and wired it right into the manifold. Plug it into a socket and it's on. I have a couple of those digital timers with 4 sockets timed, and 4 hot. The options are all covered.

Thanks man. I really appreciate that. I know when there were times I had what seemed to me to be a simple, but unanswered question, I would come to the forums and often see my very question asked as I would have worded it. So, when I have an issue or problem and have found a good resolution to them, I try to make it a point to post it. If people get ideas, or answers from reading my threads, I'm jazzed.

Ultimately, I want everyone to grow really good cannabis.
