Gov's Pineapple Chunk Mars II Excursion

Man alive, it is testament to the 5 watts diode that you have no stretch at that distance. And to the grower of course:thumb:

Yes, even above 30" distance, this light realizes very little stretch in veg. In fact, for the first few weeks, most people I've talked to that have used them thought node-spacing was even too tight. Personally, for a small-footprint grow, I can't imagine using anything other than a good LED anymore.

Pulled up a chair packing a bowl of my WW or maybe BB. Looking great. ive wondered about the marsII lights for awhile i was looking hard at the at600. can i ask you last harvest what was your yield under it? and maybe im high but what model is your marsII?

That's an understandable question since I didn't put that info in this journal. One that can also be answered if you look at my other "completed" grow journal. It details most all of the components for my grow. Last harvest, I got 8.5 zips (.802 gpw) in the can. My footprint is 30" x 42" and my light is the Mars II 700 (draws 298w actual).

Welcome guys.

There are a few "hot" lights available right now, and LED's are here. I'm sure they'll only get better, but even right now, they have a LOT to offer IMO. There is no way I could get by with an HPS in my situation right now, but the LED's allow me to do my thing. I actually bought more gear than I need, but if I ever decide to do RDWC, then I already have a chiller, 24/7 3-way meter, pumps, airstones, etc,. Yeah, I bought all that stuff and went hempy...lol. Glad I did at this point. All my other unused stuff is still boxed and I'm sure I could sell it at a mild loss, but I tell myself "what if?" so I hang onto it.

i read your other post vn. you sold me on the lights. i need less heat than my hps puts out.

The gov does that, you'll be on the hempy train next.

I fed this morning, and even snapped a couple pics, but it was a rough day yesterday and with feeding as well as a couple early-scheduled meetings this morning, I just went in, fed, rotated and left. Accordingly, it will probably be Wednesday before a picture update, but they are doing well and looking happy.

I fed with: 4ml CaliMagic, 4ml part A, 6ml part B, 1ml LK, 1ml F+ for ~600 ppm. I think my pH meter is still suspect and let it sit until it read 5.6 but wouldn't go any higher then fed.

Sheesh...been craaAAzzyy busy last few days. I didn't even make it into their room yesterday, but went in this morning to check on them and they were almost dry already. So, tomorrow, they get fed again. I prefer them to get pretty dry before watering so today they should finish whatever is in the res. I'll post full update with pics tonight or tomorrow morning.

Friday update time. Day 5 after flip and growth is still strong. They aren't "showing" yet, but feels like any day now. I fed again this morning with 4ml calimagic, 4ml part A, 6ml part B, 2ml LK, 1ml F+. ~ 625 ppm, pH 5.9, also I ve put in a couple pics from 2 days ago as well. Not too much difference, but you can see some in side-by-side comparisons.

I still find it interesting to see the pics under normal light as I'm always in there lights-on and am always looking at them through Timothy Leary's glasses. Anyway, it looks like they have a few weeks just partying under the lights, and another week of anticipated stretch. I raised the lights ~4 inches this morning too. I have about 6-8 inches left I can raise it, but will wait until they get a little taller to do so.

Hi there Governmentchz,

I've really enjoyed reading through your grow journals. So much info and organized very well. Your grow methods and style (not to mention results) are very appealing to me :)

Would you mind if I get your thoughts on outfitting my cabinet with a couple Mars II's? I have a footprint of 60" x 36". My initial thought is to use 2 700w. I'm wondering if the 900s's might be too much?

Too much hand wringing and lip biting. I thought I'd go right to the pro's ;)

Cheers and happy growing

Hey Obi Wan. Thanks for stopping by man. I think you'd be fine with 2x700's in that space, but if you can swing it, the 2x900's would offer more horsepower down the stretch and, depending on strain, could provide you with more dense bud. You will still have to cool the space though because even though they run MUCH cooler than HPS/MH, they still make heat. I'm not venting outside, and regulate my grow temps with the central AC, and with my lone 700 running it easily stays comfy in there. If our weather is good the AC may not kick on and when that happens, I have to turn the central down a few degrees so it will cool the room. Thankfully, our weather has stayed right in the comfortable range and it's been a non-issue for the most part. It "feels" like a challenge to our frugality to have the house so cool this early in the season...but we'll manage. :)

G'day gov, looking great man. Um question, how'd did you convince the mrs to wear extra layers for a while in order to get premium buds? What a women! And what a lucky man. Peace bro

Thanks for the suggestions. Here's to another great harvest! Good luck, I'll be following along :)
