Gov's Pineapple Chunk Mars II Excursion

Thanks all. Hi Growgrow. I think the discussion i would recommend for you to read would be this one: Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Please take a moment to go through that thread. I'm not trying to avoid the conversation, however, much of the information you question/seek will be found there. Welcome to this great site.

As far as the ladies, they were dry again today...so I fed...again. The next time they're dry (at this pace will be tomorrow) I will just give them a cool drink of water, but as they stretch, I want to make sure they have everything they need. Today is day 9 after flip to 12/12. Growth is still vigorous, and they seem really happy, however they aren't throwing pre flowers yet.

I fed with 3ml CalMag, 5ml part A, 7ml part B, 2ml LK, 1ml F+, 2ml Flora Nectar. 735ppm, pH 5.8

I kinda feel like an idiot too. Yesterday afternoon, I intended to draw a few gallons of RO water and started it filling. I remembered it this morning ffs. Thankfully, if it overflows it drains through the garage to the outside so no damage, but jeezus, I probably wasted 50 gallons of water (and 50 gal worth of filter in my RO filter).

:loopy:

Thanks Grizzwald.
5W=2W??,wowo!!
you only need 1 watt actual output from a led diode to grow a plant anything over that is deeper penetration. the run them at 45% power so they last. if you ran that at 5 watts you would have to put them 8 feet above your plants so you dont cook them. if you are looking find the one with the foot print you want. also if height is an issue dont get 5 watt diodes get 3 watt diodes(1.25 actual watt per diode) so you can have 16 more inches of usable height.

Allo' Govnah!
i dig the cabinet i would have loved one when i first started indoors but now 4 tents later im just used to my girls "camping" it fun to see a hempy bucket grow its been a while since i did it and was inspired to grow that way by elite growers like docbud,420fied,blue---,etc.
im actually doing some 2liter coco hempys atm, so i got a kick seeing your doing them, i love the simplicity, but this summer i mean to tackle other forms of hydro, its been the bane of growing for me! yet im compelled to master at least one form of hydro and since discovering the"Heisenberg tea" and being able to finally fight off root rot /pythium with mkos im going all in!! i finally got a high cbd strain cannatonic ,been after one for well over a year, i wanna push yeilds as high as i can so hydro is my new bag baby yeah! ,
gotta say those girls look straight up bangin' good-o-tasty!! :rocker: and led is also..well that sorta thing is my bag baby yeah! too ! lol
woo this shatter and vape are kikkin my tukus ..nap-time wow!

BIGGY! Welcome dood!

Yeah, Hempy and 2-part nutes. The utter simplicity combined with results = teh good. I DO enjoy the entire hobby...but I AM still lazy. I liked the Lucas Formula, but have, more or less, just used the card recommendations.

Going full hydro eh? That should be interssting...and fun. ;)

I love me some cannatonic, would like to find some seeds or a clone. BID, I have a crazy idea for a breeding project. Cross purple urkle and cannatonic. Unless someone has already done it? I've been looking around and can't find anything close. I think they would pair well.

I was just letting him know it's not 700w, as if you don't know it's actual draw it can be confusing and look a little inefficient. I have 3w panels that penetrate deeper than my 5w. :peace:

Actually penetrate is the wrong word, I should say have more usable light.

yes i agree that depends who makes the panel. I still think the marsII for the price tag vs any other light is more than worth it. what you get for what you spend is no competition in my book. One of my fav's that i have seen is the at600 apcahe but at $2499 and with code its $1999 is still way to spendy. i can get 2x the area for 1/2 the price. i just cant get past the big dollar prices on some led's. i also know in 2 years ill want diff lights than the ones i get this summer so again till they really get it right ill go with the ones that are affordable that can do .8 grams per actual watt. Ding Ding MarsII 1200 (585 actual) is the winner for me being poor. If i had it to spend at600 all day. hands down the best led out there i think.

At this point in time, I agree with you DC420. Mars II lights work well and are priced aggressively.

I have a short update for today too. The girls threw out some pistillate hairs! Day 10 from flip, the flowering hath begun.

looking good bro. so now start the counting its day 1 of flower. I was counting from the flip and was told you start counting when they start to flower.

Yeah, six of one, half a dozen of another. As long as it's consistent, I don't think it really matters. Indoors, I go from when they start to show. ;)

Yep, I started from seeds. Barney's Farm breeder's pack from Attitude seedbank on wet paper towels on a warm plate, and as soon as they crack, I put them in Rapid Rooters plugs. I prefer not to wait any longer as it's just much harder on the tender rootlets. I put them straight under the LED at it's highest distance. Once they become viable, I drop the light to a grow level and get rolling.

Thanks Governmentchz. When do you put it in the perlite? I have a Mars 2 700 watt. Man that sucker gets hot in my 3'x2'x5' tent. I put frozen 1 gallon water jugs laying against my 5 gallon DWC buckets to keep the nutes below 65 degrees. Next time I try hempy. I think the temp is easier to control because of the perlite. Don't you agree?

Well, controlling the temp is relative in hempy. The nutes/res are always the same temp as the ambient air in the grow area. This isn't a bad thing as the slightly higher temps allow the soup to evaporate back up into the medium. Temperature control is ALWAYS important, but with hempy, you don't need to keep the reservoir below 70f. My grow room stays at 78-79f almost all the time. It can get up to 82-84 if it goes unregulated by the central AC (i.e. if ambient temps are very comfortable, the AC may not come on much), but now that temps have gone up slightly, it's actually easier to regulate the temps in my grow.

I put my plugs w/cracked seeds straight into the buckets and let them germ under the LED. This isn't an issue, but I've no doubt germinating them in large solo cups (or something similar) is better for root development and you can get explosive growth after transplanting to the larger buckets once the roots have filled the cup. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the answers, really made thinking about hempy technique being an easier way to go. Than DWC anyway. I like the idea of the solo cups. I should have gotten a taller tent but I didn't have anything to go on. Only saw a tent in the hydro store. Didn't even think of their being able to have it wide open. Oh well, soon I'll build a garage or outbuilding. That'll have the room. And privacy.

Well, I have a big family (5 kids) and they are all out of the house now. As a result, I have several rooms not being used and decided I wanted this instead of a man-cave. For that matter, I can still make a man-cave out of one of the other rooms!
