If you going from Solo cups to 5 gallon. I would not water to runoff to start with. I would water with maybe 1 liter or so making sure water around the plant but also the edges of the pot to encourage roots to spread out searching for water. make sure to let them dry out thoroughly before watering again might take a while with big pots and small plants. I usually start in .5 gallon pot after germination and up pot to 7 gallon at about 3 or 4 weeks. Lots of people start in 5 gallon or bigger right after germination. Don't over water is the key.

Day 8

Growth is continuing well. Haven’t watered today, couple dry spots appearing on the soil, will water tomorrow morning once looking a little drier.

As I’m repotting them to 5 gallon pots on Sunday I won’t start the calmag until a week after they’ve settled, it was around 3 weeks in the large pots last grow I noticed a deficiency so I’ll start off with just a small amount.

PH is being kept between 6-7.

Hanging wet towels inside seedling cupboard to try and raise humidity a bit, temps seem good so far.

So far everything on track.

Yeah, biobizz allmix. I had a lightmix last time. Golden leaf I believe it may have been called. They didn’t have any in stock and advised I try the biobizz.

Hi @oldsmokey or anyone else who can help.

I’ve got some yellow spots appearing, hoping someone can help.

Just to confirm some things.
Growing in soil
Dutch pro nutrients following the chart.
T5 light. It is pretty close, I can get some measurements if needed.
Humidity is around 30%, cannot higher it until they get moved into the tent on Sunday.
Temperature is 18 at night, 25-35 through out the day. I know this is high, just don’t have anyway to cool them down while in the cupboard for first few weeks.
Being fed every other day once dry, 10% run off on each feed.
Also, I feed directly onto the soil, sometimes the water with nutrients does hit the leaves, not sure if this makes a difference.

2nd grow and had a lot of problems last time, so trying to stay ahead this time round.

Appreciate any help.

Hi... it sounds like you are watering by the calendar instead of by what the plants are calling for. Watering every other day can not be correct since plants follow their own schedule, sometimes taking 3 or 4 days to use all the water and as the roots get stronger, taking a day or less. Your symptoms look exactly like what you have described, you are watering too often and those yellow spots are showing you that the lower roots are beginning to have problems... they are not seeing oxygen often enough.
So let's examine how you are determining that they are dry enough to need water... are you absolutely certain that they are completely dry all the way down to the bottom?

Thank you. I’m using tap water. I run my PH between 6.5 and 5.8, but I’ve been closer to 6.5 lately as the nutrients have been bringing it down to 6.5 as my tap water is usually around 7.5, so I’ve not had to add much ph down. I watered yesterday and added ph down as I was told to stay between 5.8 and 6.5 but try to make it go up and down between that level and managed to get to 6.2

I go off dry weights, and it appears dry when I’m watering and I do try to dig a little with my finger tip to check. They appear to be drying every 2 days and I do try to let them go a few hours extra after I think they are dry, just to be sure. I’ve even had a tiny bit of dropping before giving them water at times, then perking back up after watering them.

Hi Emilya,

I feel down to my first knuckle to see if it’s dry. I have weighed them when dry too, so I weigh them again when I think they are dry.

Every other day is just the pattern I’ve been following so far as that’s when they appear dry. I don’t water them all at once as some appear dry before others, but my light was off balanced which I think was the cause of that, which is now sorted.

I watered 4 this morning and 6 yesterday afternoon, both were watered around 52-56 hours after the previous watering. A litre is being shared between all 10 on each watering.
