Golden Tiger - In Hydro By Gwhunran 2023

Back in the day when I did hydro I found after many years that I could grow better weed using less nutrients.

Certainly the manufactures encouraged us to use way more than is needed.

I'd be tempted to dilute the formula just a shade and see what difference it made. I doubt that the other 2 would suffer for having it a fraction weaker.
But that’s what I was thinking too about diluting. I had to do it to the PB all thru the grow. CL🍀

I am due another reservoir change tomorrow. I will drop the KoolBloom and see how it goes. I would like to avoid lowering the Micro nutrients further as I don't know if some of the lack of trace minerals are contributing to the issue. I think the plants would carry on if I did nothing though, just not looking as good.

Golden Tiger
Day 58 since flip.

The grow area is running normally.

The CO2 bucket is bubbling a little slower, it'll be time to make a new one soon.

The plants are looking good. The one on the left could be better but it's not dying yet. The other two are still stretching away.:) A couple of the pictures show colas running horizontally under the 2nd screen where I've been tucking it back under. There are several places along these stalks where buds are going vertical again through the screen.:cheesygrinsmiley::bong:

Looks kind of like a potassium lockout to me.
I don't know much about hydro though.

PK boosters like Koolbloom is never needed and most often more detrimental than beneficial when added on top of a already complete plant food with optimal mineral ratios. To much of anything and ratios out of range causes lockouts. That looks like nute burn from excess.

The old school sativa's need very little in terms of nutrient strength were 400ppm / 0.8 EC total is only what's needed in DWC or other water cultures.

Thanks Wastei, I just changed the reservoir on schedule and lowered the nutes again. Plus no KoolBloom and no CalMag+. Even lowered the Bloom nutes from 180ml to 150ml.

This is mostly for the plant on the left. The other two, the one in the front and the one on the right seem to be okay with the old nute load. We'll see if they remain okay or they show signs of deprivation.

I did a little reading and I'm sure my PH has been very good. I check it twice a day and haven't found it out of range. It could have gotten really out of wack when I was in the hospital, but has been good for the last three weeks. I just did another regularly scheduled reservoir change and used no KoolBloom(0-10-10) and no CalMag+. I also reduced the Bloom nutrients as I've been told to try less of every nutrient.

Golden Tiger
Day 59 since flip.

The grow area is running normally.

The CO2 bucket is still going but slower. Change soon.

Reservoir change this morning. Decreased the nutrient level even more, mainly due to the plant on the left not looking as healthy as the other two. If the other two plants continue to look good, okay, if not then the load may be increased again. Used no KoolBloom(0-10-10) and no CalMag+(2-0-0). Also used considerably less Micro(5-0-1) nutrients. Normal load is 135ml, used 60ml. Used less Bloom(0-5-4) as well. Normally used 180ml, used 150ml.
PHed to 5.8-6.2.

Day 60 since flip.

The grow area is running normally.

The CO2 bucket is barely bubbling. Replace it tomorrow.

The plants look none the worse for wear after the reservoir change yesterday. We'll see how they look after a few days.

They look good and continue to grow to the light. I am beginning to think they will be manageable height wise and require no pruning to keep them from getting too close to the light.

Thanks Capn, I just replied back with the values of the reservoir change yesterday and gave a little more information. :) I had already backed off on the amounts even more. I think they will be okay, but just like you were, I'm just concerned about them.
They are already quite sticky.:cheesygrinsmiley: Just moving a tall stalk to another hole in the 2nd screen, not even touching the leaves, just the stalk, leaves my fingers sticky.:cheesygrinsmiley::bong:

Day 61 since flip.

The grow room is running normally. Currently making another CO2 bucket and moving it to the Colombian Gold grow. The Golden Tiger will get more than ambient CO2 because of the way the grow area is configured but probably a lessor concentration. The Golden Tiger's AC will now be in operation and the one on the Colombian Gold side will be turned off. Making it a little cooler on the GT side.

Plants still looking good. No new ill effects since the new reservoir or they haven't expressed yet. :)

Day 62 since flip.

The grow area is running normally.

The CO2 is now on the Colombian Gold side and the AC is now running on the Golden Tiger side so it's a little cooler but not by much.

The plants are continuing to flower. I'm not sure if they are through stretching yet or not, but they seem to be building flower at a faster rate rather than just making new sites. Not much change on the left pheno, but it's buds are growing too.

GT Day 62 flower (2).JPG

Golden Tiger, Day 62 flower. The horizontal pipe cleaners tied together are to hold the plants inside the confines of the SCROG frame, rather than letting them get into my work space.

I think so. The ones on the front and right are just about perfect. We'll see how those two build and how much light they get. If I'd gotten three plants like the one on the left then no, I would have vegged longer.
I still think the one on the left looks more like the Thai flowers that I used to see in High Times, the taller phenos look more like the Malawi plants I've seen on the internet. :hmmmm: :bong:

The plants are continuing to flower and grow into the 2nd screen, at least two of them are.
I like the look of the short pheno though.:) I just hope the other two don't crowd it out by taking over the light.:hmmmm::oops:

The plants are continuing to build flower and I'm not sure if the stretching has stopped or slowed down, but soon in any case.

Not sure if the reduction in nutrient load has improved things or not.
