Hello grow folk!
It's Flip 59 for the New Trick girls and I'm fighting to stay out of their way
and my own. Last night I gave them a dose of bloom booster (GH Kool Bloom) at their recommended dosage of 1.25g per gallon.
But after having a chance to sleep on that decision, I sort of, maybe, kinda' just a little bit regret it. (Okay, more than a little bit, but just a little bit more than a little bit.
)
Me: "These plants didn't seem to be asking for anything but more time and more of the same. Why did you give them a booster?"
AndMe: "Well, you didn't stop me."
It's something I'm getting better at but there's still much room for improvement: Staying out of the way.
So as soon as the light came on today I went and inspected the swick bases. The Lemon Bubble and Hash Lover still were about half full (their drinking is slowing). So I dumped was was left in their bases. In politics they call that a "partial retraction."
The Blue Cindy's base was bone dry. (Really pleased to see that!) That's okay, she's the one I think will finish last and she
may be okay with the booster. In fact, if this initial dose doesn't mess with her she might get another later on.
I scrubbed all the bases to get out the residue and filled them all to about 2/3 full (that's 2/3 of a gallon) of aged tap water, pHed to 6.0. I felt a sense of relief knowing that they'd all be drinking just plain water for now!
The plants themselves showed no ill effects from what I did (it's early). I had them all out while I was making my "partial retraction" and took the opportunity to shoot some solo pics.
Here they are presented in the order in which I think they'll finish.
Lemon Bubble
Her ugly leaves got less ugly after I increased the dosage of calmag I was supplementing (past the manufacturers recommendation). Lesson learned.
She's coming down in about 10 days, give or take a few.
Hash Lover
I took testers from her and smoked some, but I have some left. And they keep hitting better with each passing day! She's gonna' be my flopper this time around!
Blue Cindy
Ms. Fat Stuff has some fairly heavyweight buds but she's still standing on her own!
Here back in the tent, with a dainty, size 13 foot for scale!
------------------------------------
The Phase II girls are on Flip 6 and both the Fat Kid's Cakes grew another inch overnight. They're now up to 16 inches. The Godberry refuses to budge and remains at 8 inches above the soil. I'm really starting to like her!
------------------------------
I wanted to show how the bottom of my swick pots look. There have been lots of roots escaping the bottoms during the grow but they haven't created any issues. I think that's because I lifted them from the base and turned them every day (almost
).
Even the algae that was so prevalent at the beginning (when I was providing too much water) has lessened.
-----------------------------
This one seems to be falling on the low end of the breeder estimate!
Thanks for letting me know what you would do Shed. That would allow me to what, more accurately determine the days between flip and the beginning of flower or the takedown of the plant? I'd know that's its +3 more than I presented it to be? C'mon man, you know I don't care about that stuff to that level!
We shall see. They seemed to have started stretching about an inch a night since I did that. Oops, maybe!

As always, it's a pleasure having you here.
PEACE
