I've had so-so luck with hash in vapes.. It will work, but faster resin build up than with buds.. So thats a factor. It will work better unpressed, mixed with a little bud if you want to go with that route. For smoking, I would just press it... It's really great for edibles or tinctures. Much easier to gauge dosing.

If you are just worried about efficiency... The vape is king. But, certain cannabinoids don't vaporize well. I believe CBN doesn't... Which helps some people with pain.... I love the taste of pressed hash, but I still intend to use most of my kief for tinctures... It's the best efficiency I've found to take care of my health issues.

Unpressed it is pretty harsh smoke.

although it was an easy trim today i still dreamt of a spin pro i too have wasted bud left to dry on the vine in bags they sit, i care not! im lazy and will leave it to sit, i remember thinking i wish my reptillian friend lived nearby i bet his new toy has arrived! i got 3.6oz wet from 3 tiny clones that had troubles when young at lest 1.5oz when dry, good for me givin i dont share, you'll be spinnin' pineapples for those silly kidz watching the game , and not loathing the trim. keif can be sprinkled on a bowl,in a doob, for a profound kick! i have seen vids on how to use a ciggy celophane and tape to fold n press it into a chunk of hash, i have mixed into melted butter and made diabolical cookies! im not much help with that im afraid, i am guilty of just throwing away trim in the past,not very aware of its worth till the last year so i too am looking for ways to make the most of it! im quite sure you will find a superb option.

THsea, I'll be investigating edibles & tinctures for medicine. I can't smoke much PE in a day, anyday. Being in a stoned fog is not my fave, but medicinal use is likely higher doses. I'll get some ethanol for trimmer clean-up, PE tops shed a lot of sticky trichs on the grill.

I use cannabis daily, and one of the things I use it for, is the relief of pain and inflammation, so I took a cue from the Japanese people. As I'm sure you are aware, they drink a lot of green tea. Well, I learned a few years back at a tea workshop, (don't ask...) the the tea leave are usually eaten after the tea is steeped. So I just eat the vaped buds when I'm done.

Seems to be working just as well as smoking for pain, and they have a rather pleasant nutty flavor.

We just scrape out the bowl and don't worry about the screen too much....eventually you can scrape/peel that off too. Take an old credit card and make up a curved scraper to fit the contour of the bowl. If you use ethanol, just dump it in a large cookie sheet by an open window with fan or breeze blowing on it. When it evaporates, you can scrape the cookie sheet to reconstitute. Just take the hash/kief/goo and roll into a small snake and roll joint around it all. May take all day to finish, but is easy to consume that way. If you trim the buds to golf ball size, and keep batches of uniform size, it makes the spin pro real efficient, basically just trim from stem and cut the big ones in half or thirds. Dump the trim into the bubble bag and repeat.

in a bit i'll have much bigger plants to make trim work loathing day happen again i've no doubt it would be well worth the cost of shipping to rent mr. trim! smart thing about ethanol cleanup is you can simply save the bath water,and a few days of evap you have tincture presto! alcohol seems a mighty fine and simple method to make high power (and high$) medication i hear many ppl swear by it,that may very well be my next adventure in trim and old bud disposal, i have small mountains of the stuff, i will not smoke,but a perpetual makes mnt. cannabis grow exponetialy! something must be done! i hate being wasteful *starts singing* oh oh oh doin the pineapple spin pine apple! pine apple! oh oh pine apple' lol sorry gator couldnt resist

Through the salad spinner, good things roll. I'm encouraged to dream of trees again, for a winter's fun run. My summer sog might be managable without it, but only in small steady 'perpetual' steps. Trimming for three four days is no good for Gator. Quality seems OK, but more trials are forthcoming.

Good extracts have been made with isopropyl alcohol, but it must be completely removed before use.
Ethanol is less poisonous.
Spinner cleanout won't amount to much, but the bags offer promise. Especially if...

OG13, your use-rate suggestion makes me shudder, but why do I not smoke more, much more?
Still not over the WOW at Casa Verde's workaday results. Growing triple what I've done, feeling puny.

Dont' use isopropyl. Use evercleer or any other (favorite flavor) solvent. You don't even have to let it evaporate, just use it in a drink, like a green dragon.

Using Iso for extraction will give you hash oil.. I think thats what it is.
I've done it with trim abunch. I wouldn't recommend it. I've had greater success with tinctures than the hash oil.. It's not as kind to smoke. I would suggest using your trim with your bags, and steer clear of Iso all together.

Hash from collected trich's is much nicer IMO. You don't need to put it on bud to smoke it more effectively.

I would not recommend using trim for tincture either... Use good quality, cured bud (or kief)... Tincture is sub-lingual administration. It kicks in faster than edibles, though does not last quite so long.

Not to derail, but my recipe is short, if you would like to give it a try... Everclear is my solvent of choice for tincture.
I won't really refer to "quantity"s exactly.. But I take a third of what I will be soaking, put it in a glass pan and cover (not scrunching around, but just laying ontop) with foil. Turn the oven to 220 degrees, and put it in for like.. 15-20 min. It will crunch up easy, you don't need to grind it.. The other 2/3 is ground and all of this is put in a glass mason jar. Cover it with alcohol, then add a little more. It is wasteful to add too much, but it will not effect the end product*... Agitate every day for a while. I always open it daily, I don't know if this is a good thing to do or not. Probably makes no difference.. But Shaking it is needed. Leave it in a dark, cool place the rest of the time.. It will be good in about a month.. Then, strain out the cannabis, and evaporate *to taste. Alcohol evaporates quickly, so you need to be careful with this. I usually evap it down 50%, if its good cannabis. I like for one dropper full to "do the job"..

If you use kief you don't need to strain Once I get bubble bags I want to use the kief and see what the saturation point is. That would be good info to know.

EDIT! I forgot, I really would not use hash in any sort of vertical type vaporizer.. it would suck to have it go down onto the element, or in some cases the fan. Maybe they protect against this, but I would not chance it.

Maybe I'll just clean the MixMaster with salad oil, and skip even the ethanol.
I use imitation vanilla to avoid the alcohol in natural extracts, kidding but close.

For years, I've badmouthed extracts and talked up ice & aggitation. Now I'm going to do it.
I'll buy at Harbor Freight a big drill motor and a stir paddle. Got Homer buckets?
The mesh at the bottom of the bags is really really fine, for bearing trichome gold.

I've read so many bad reviews on the cheap ones that I can't see pulling the trigger. The common complaint is the threads go south in a hurry. Many times after just one use. But damn, I don't look forward to spending $200 on the best hand press either.

I have a friend at a machine shop, gonna have him mill me one out of solid stainless. Should only run me a couple of grams and a six pack.

I pressed those two halves and the full and didn't have any trouble... I think the problem is that people try to tighten it as far as it will go, and this is not a good practice. If you need pliers to remove the caps after you press that's too much. I just hand tighten as much as I can without feeling as though I'm straining myself, give it a tap on a wood block to give it an extra nudge and open it back up. The tap also helps pack the kief a tad more and relieve some pressure on the threads to loosen the caps. Just by doing this my discs are such that I can drop it on the plate and hear that satisfying *tink* of well formed hash. Age for a while and it's done.

This one will only do up to about a gram at a time, so if you have more than say 10g or so, a larger press would be better for you to cut the work time down, unless you like the monotony of Fill, Press, Tap, Open, Remove. 10 is about as many as I would want to do. 1 gram discs also make for easy book keeping, and easy transactions at the co-op.

I found a three-piece press online with a flat bottom plate, a center plate with 28 holes, and the top plate has 28 cylinders protruding to fit. Comes with a screw press in a frame, but a hydraulic jack could be fitted easily. $300

1g Ea? $300 sounds like it would pay for itself in just a few runs! Is that the one on Pollen Tools dot com? That's just the plates...You also have to get the press $300, or like you said rig a bottle-type hydraulic jack to press it.
