Gator Uncaged

Rooted cuttings, 24 days

Seed sprouts, also 24 days

Want their names, anybody? Of course you do!
From the left, top & botton are P-Chunk. Next in the middle, White Rhino.
Next to the right, top & bottom Snow White. Lucys are next.
On the right top, a fat leafed CH9 Commercial. Bottom right is Top Dawg

The cuttings are all PE, and I've 20 more PE noobs destined for a new SoG, more to be cut soon. I plan to run all the new strains in the vert, catching cuttings as they grow.

for veg cycle would it be best for 24 or light till flower cycle, when i grew going back 8 or 9 years it was always a rule to grow 18-6, at the minute im under 20-4 didnt know if 24-0 for whole of veg benefits the plants, fort id ask gator as you seem a good source of info, soz if i stepped on your toes in your journal, just looking for help and advice mate

I veg 24/7, because it's simple and I'm satisfied with results. There are many who make a good case for dark periods in veg. I try to avoid that discussion, I've plenty of battles already on my plate.

ive been reading bout GLR, their are so many variables on lighting times its unreal, i just wish their was an easy answer and an optimum light period, as for glr i need to see more results, not many people growing using that method, but im reading more about it at the minute, only came across GLR yesterday,

I like growing weed -
whether by clone or seed.
Stressing, fighting, agitating?
I'd rather stick to propa-gating.

Sprouts and cuttings looking healthy and green, Gator! :high-five:

Twelve12 (may he get some good luck in life for a change) used 12-1 for all his vegging for his breeding program for almost 2 years I think. I have used GLR since Nov. last year, and I am amazed at the results. The growth and vigor and overall health of the plants vs. 18/6 (for me anyway) were remarkable. Granted experiences differ, just throwing in my 2c.

all these comments need deleting from gators journal, i neva meant it to get out of hand like this, i was only asking advice not hyjackin a mans journal,
MODS PLEASE DELETE ALL THESE POSTS AND RETURN GATORS JOURNAL BACK TO WHAT IT WAS, THIS IS HIS JOURNAL I ONLY ASKED HIM A SIMPLE QUESTION N ITS GONE CRAZY LIKE THIS,

Refresh your page, they've already been deleted...

Shorty dried and her nugs are in a bag: 10g exactly. This success prompted me to purchase a case of plastic pots to SoG it with. Case is huge, but I couldn't buy fewer. 49 of them will fit nicely under a 600, or two 400s until I get another 600. That's over an lb of da kine in 8 weeks or less. Too bad I'm infatuated with vert, but I'm a stubborn old Gator and have a mixed grow coming (literally)up. Vert bulb controls height, except mini-bud forever trop. sativa. My one Hawaiian Snow needed bending, and she did get bent. I'm still smoking her sweet buds occasionally. Makes me light-headed and goofier.

The bag with Shorty's remains in it looks good, very appealing. The zip bag barely slows down the odor, which is in-tense.

Way to go Mr. Gator! What was the wet weight? Just curious, what made you decide to do verticle lighting and what are the advantages?

Great question, Queen. Right to the heart of my journals.
In early 2009, I discovered cannabis cultivation online. I had grown one successful crop before, 25 years ago. Global search turned up 420, and vertical HID growing. I glommed onto the obvious efficiency due to geometry, plus the fact that few growers then, nor now grow this way. Heath Robinson's flooded tube vert was a new thread, and I was impressed. Still am.

Geometry: a halide bulb emits it's power in a 3 dimensional torus shape. That power zone is where I put my plants. If bulb is horizontal, only half it's emission goes directly down, with less than all of the topside light to be reflected back into the grow. Much less than all. My grows have never been 'dialed' in, but I think impressive results are likely.

Check out the lucky bush in the middle of this twin vert grow

Just an hour ago, I removed the horizontal reflector from the right-hand side 600. Nice hanger on the socket assembly made this easy. This 80 X 40" box will stay twin vert for a while, it pleases me. I've a 4X4' space in which I'll run a 2 liter SoG, similar to 420fied's. Comparison will be inevitable, but I'm mostly just trying to grow good weed and more of it.

Bush in the center rear is at 25 days since the flip, halfway. The small plants are mostly the seedlings that were buried 23 days back, catching some rays. I'll take them out, either when lights out, or 4 hours later. They'll go back under the T-8s in the veg closet, that have been lit for over two years continuous.
There's a large vegging PE bush in the left-side front, also catching rays, same routine when lights out. She may replace Bushy, or just get a buzz cut for propagating the SoG. It's scheduled for 48 plants to shape up like Shorty, which weighed 50 grams wet with a stem. Dry with no stem, 10g. Goal will be over a lb of prime PE nuggets, in less than 8 weeks from the flip.
Vert will grow bigger PEs, and the new strains.

Hi, gator, if you dont mind me asking, how big do you let your plants get during the veg stage, how big are they when you switch to flower, obviously mines going to be a slower grow but im trying to get the most yield i can using my method, it is an experiment after all, you seem to get nice buds and your plants always look healthy, going back 9 years i grew a 6 ft jack flash which i loved the tangyness of, this plant reached 6ft under an old street light and yielded big amounts as street lights where i live are what most growers buy to grow with i just replaced the bulb with a newer bulb, this plant grew for about 3 months before flower as i was unsure when to flower, now i havnt got a height problem my rooms is floor to ceiling but thought id ask what height you turn the lights to flower, would you say a foot tall or a foot n half is bout rite, would love to hear your views as you seem to get great results

"how big do you let your plants get during the veg stage"

It's not all about height, but size. I get side branching with side lighting from a vertically presented HID bulb. Under the overhead horizontally presented light, 600 HPS has the power to reach down and branch 'em up.

Gain experience by 'steering down the middle of the road'; 'flip' them at about a foot.
Don't expect my results without my equipment, but you can grow buds with cfls, or a street light.
My city uses low pressure sodium, which is not great to grow with.

thanks gator, i know i wont get results anywhere near yours, even if i had the lights id probably struggle ive not been growing as often as i like to get it perfected, im thinking of tying th plant and running it around the pot in circular motion after im at the 4th set of leaves, this should increase yield shouldnt it and keep the plant low enough to stop it stretching as much, with my lights im having a load above the plant, im going to hang a few around the plants along all side of the plant and im possible thinking of having sum lights below the plant shining up throug the bottom, not sure if its a good idea yet or not,
thanks gator

Well sir i don't believe in pussyfooting around. I like getting to the meat of things. And since you're a gator i expect you do too..lol

So Mr. Gator, how long have you been growing. Surely you didn't stop with the one plant all those years ago. And your knowledge of things seem to be that of a master grower. Not brown nosing but just saying fact.

Geometry: a halide bulb emits it's power in a 3 dimensional torus shape. That power zone is where I put my plants. Talking about geometry is like speaking a foreign tongue. It is lost to me.
