Gardenfaerie Auto Fem - CFL to Greenhouse

Just came in again. I go out every few hours because I want them to finish magically and I go out and I cut! It sure does stink in that greenhouse for two little plants. This better be some good medica. So now, some of these are a little arty farty. I did some with light on half, etc. They probably just look like every other photo of cannabis!

First, four babies...awaiting the other two to hatch.

looking good! thanks for the video. that one plant that you think needs nitrogen is just over watered (I think). the sunlight goes right through those tents, or how does it work?

Sorry, I didn't see your question. Yes, the greenhouse is made of a material which allows maximum light penetration into the greenhouse. There is a street light out back which lightens up the night a bit, but there are only autos in the greenhouse. When I move outdoors, fortunately the trees and vegetation in the gardens will filter out that light. Also, we have kids who regularly shoot the bulbs out. I like when they do that!

don't worry about the street light. the moon naturally reflects the light from the sun, so your babies will be ok.

Great bud pics GF, serious trichome abundance, your trimmings will make a great hash yield!

I'll try to keep my questions to 1 or 2 a week, are you familiar with this practice?

wikipedia: (direct nutrient injection) some call it "Girdling" the causes of girdling are human practices, including forestry, horticulture, and vandalism. Foresters use the practice of girdling to thin forests and orchardists use it as a cultural technique to yield larger fruit.

thank you for your knowledge & wisdom shared here! :thankyou: 5 star rating awarded to this journal! :thumb:

Let's hope for some amber trichs today so I can harvest two of the plants. That said, yes I've heard of girdling, but never used this technique. From memory, it was a method used in fruiting trees which were either on their last leg, or have been growing for a decade without ever having produced fruit. The plant or tree goes into a survival mode and pushes out what is called "compensatory growth." This is a type of hyper growth which is mainly using the final stores of carbohydrates in the tissues. A plant can live like this for five years, mostly trees, but eventually succumb to the stress.

How this method would work on cannabis? No idea. I'm not even so sure what they call "girdling" is what I'm referring to in my own information. For me, there is little to no attraction to a high level of manipulation to get a plant to do what it wouldn't normally do. That's not to say it can't be done, I'm just not all that attracted to all these methods, so to speak. I AM attracted to screen training. I think you almost have to use a screen to grow outdoors in limited space. Sorry for the ramble. I didn't really answer your question.

Hi GF......keep it natural me thinks :) I do like the training and enjoy maximising the "potential" through the training BUT I'm not a lover of high nutes and the like :)

Yes, as simplified as humanly possible. I have had a 100% germination rate of six seeds. This morning I moved them out into the small greenhouse. It is really very warm in there right now so I better go check on them. I hope six plants outside is not too much. But, like you said Ozzy, I can always keep it going, or even make a grow room.

I have three closets in my home which are huge walk-in closets. They all have electricity in them and they are all 4x6 feet, so perfect sized. I really need to find people who are growing in my area. Carefully.

I'd definitely utilise at least one closet.....even if just for comparison purposes. 6' x 4' would be perfect for 2 MASSIVE fluxed girls under 1,000w HPS :) Awwwww, now you got me dreaming lol :)

How much does a bulb like THAT cost to operate? I guess vegging under CFL would be completely adequate. But 12 a day on HPS is expensive, I think. I wonder if I would draw attention? Probably not. Customarily, now that I think of it, we have wide fluctuations in our electric bill because of the pool and when I heat the greenhouse in winter, etc. If I use the jacuzzi out back, etc. I guess it would be okay. I have to look up the KW hours to run one of those and see. For one bulb to run that many hours, I wonder what a dedicated solar array would do? Hmmm, now you got me thinking. And that is dangerous.

Lol.....I do like a calculator :) I really don't know your wattage costs GF but a single 1,000w HPS (1kw) along with the fans, nutes etc here can be easily justified if it produces 1 decent yield (3-4 oz) So, 2 x 10 oz girls is a total no brainer :) But, as I say, that's here :)

Ozzy, yeah, I have to find out what we're paying per kilowatt hour. It probably would not break the bank, but I'm curious. With medicine costing about 300 an ounce it certainly is worth my while even if it cost 300 to grow 2 ounces or so. I'm sure it won't cost anywhere near that, though. BTW, I chopped two plants!!!! Could NOT wait another minute. I'll post photos now with weights, etc.

We had a dog named Ozzy who we adored. He was a white shepherd and lived to be 14. Lost him 14 years ago now. Holy shit! 14 years.

I CHOPPED!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG

The whole shebang...2 Dwarf Deimos

Cleaned as much as I like it to be: 166 grams

Popcorn and sugars: 70 grams

I have no idea what or how to do butter, but I'm sure I'll find tons of instruction when I look. For now, I have the popcorn buds and sugar leaves in the refrigerator. Is that okay? I only have a little butter in the house so have to go out tomorrow.

So, I'm happy.

Is that your first cannabis harvest? If so, congratulations, that's gotta feel really good!:yahoo:

Those last pics showed some really nice trich production. Have you been testing 'em?

Thank you Graytail. I grew some plants, also dwarfs, last summer. I knew nothing. I harvested about a 1/4 pound from 9 plants which were no more than a foot tall.

I haven't tested the THC CBD, I wouldn't know how if I tried, but down the line I probably will get more into those details. I would like to work toward being a med grower in a legal state. I wish I found out sooner about tomorrows Colorado Cannabis Job Fair. I don't want to bud tend, I want to develop and grow. I would LOVE to work for those guys in CO who created the 'Charlotte's Web' strain with no THC and very high CBD for epilepsy. That, interests me. This is bottom floor, folks. I hope I am not too old.

My next grow will be my biggest one. I will have another new journal.

Some studies are finding the healing properties are concentrated in the thc, cbds are supposed to be great for pain, however, when I let some plants go way amber....no one could smoke the weed and stay awake...........I take my plants at the first sign of amber and I'm ok. I will be working with the higher cbd strains this season....I'm excited to see what I get! There are different methods that require the plant material to be in different configurations;....wet, dry, bone dry...ect. I would make butter with any dryness...since it all tastes like crap anyway!....LOL, IDK anyone that likes the taste of butter, and our foremost goal is not to eliminate the nastiness......we tried already......but to find flavors and ways that lessen the flavor of the butter, or somehow mesh with it. The best way I like to eat cannabis is in candy, cookies, cakes....and the very best experience came when I put hash on spaghetti....like parmesan cheese, and on my salad....on ranch or blue cheese dressing. I eat alot of edibles.........and I should still eat more. I'm interested in eating raw green leaves, and I will when I get my plants to a stage where I can take some and not feel like I'm robbing the plant of what it needs to flourish. Funny thing, with my volcano vaporizer, I can take a bud from a plant........chop it up finely and it will vape just like it was dry.....which makes good for sampling weed...I don't have to wait for it to dry! Congrats on the pull!

I am trying to decide on butter or olive oil. I can cook many different things with olive oil, but butter is more limiting. I'd like to just make oil and take it from a dropper. I'm not big on cooking...truth be told. I also harvested when I saw some amber. I don't want to be sleeping, but I may allow one plant in this coming grow really go ripe for when I need to sleep through pain. I have some friends who could use that, too. One friend has psoriatic arthritis. She is in agony and I rolled her some joints and gave them to her to try and it worked. She slept all night. Holy crap, this country is ridiculous. I guess everything takes time so I should just be patient. It's going to be legal everywhere, eventually.
