Gardenfaerie Auto Fem - CFL to Greenhouse

Hi GF :) Don't you just hate the impersonal approach of places like that? Stack em high....sell em cheap ! I'd rather pay little extra to someone who's genuinely interested both in me AND the plants :)

Well, I had to get my chops and a place like that is decent on a resume. It was the hardest I ever worked in my entire life. We had to learn to walk 100 miles an hour through miles of hothouse atmosphere for eight hours a day. It really was hard work. People looking to get into growing professionally, particularly cannabis, better know their stuff. Growing a few plants for yourself and growing a money crop to support yourself are entirely different things. In horticulture, you lose your crop, you could lose everything. That, is not an option.

That is so true GF.. I went in last year thinking this will be easy given I'm such a strong strapping man lol But people don't understand the processing that goes into growing cannabis on a large scale. Like the grow next to me, he did over a thousand pounds dried. I know guys who had to pay lots of money to hire cutters. People stealing was a problem too.

I was a one man show at the end and pulled over 50 dried, but it should have been much much more.. Just didn't know the things I know now. People who think it's easy money are ignorant. It is really hard work when your looking at that much bud to care for in the field. And the processing add 2 months to all that. You just don't hang that much bud in a room- you need dry houses. I have no idea what homeboy next to me did, but I remember a load of trucks leaving his grow. As soon as I was gone though the farm got invaded by sasquatch and some people who were relying on us being there (coattail riders or scared) lost a lot. It is scary cause those guys will kill you out there. Remember the last night before pulling my last batch to haul- there was only 4 of us there because the sasquatch got so bad. It was a night I won't forget. Like a bad episode of the boondocks where tom meets the booty warrior.

I'd rather have an operation like kush where it's all kept indoors. But your not going to pull the kind of weight, so you have to have a lot of real estate. Greenhouse sounds awesome. Just that's the first place the sasquatch hits around here. You put up a greenhouse, guaranteed it will be scouted within days. Concealing crops is the best way to go. Grow a lot of other crops, they will bring in cash too.

Anyways, cool you've had some real experience on the large scale stuff GF- I might not agree with you philosophically, but we have that in common :)

That's why I wouldn't EVER be a big commercial grower :) I'm happy growing for my son, myself and a few good friends. I don't mind selling a little on to help cover nute and electric costs either. But big time? No, not for this old fart :)

What do you mean by "Sasquatch" BT?

I'm guessing unwanted, thieving scumbags Reg.....we call them "taxmen" here. I know a few young lads (who talk too much) that have had their doors kicked in and crop taken.....even when they're there. Taxed it's called ......horrible, thieving swine :(

Loose lips sink ships Ozzy.

I think the squatch he's talking to are the bandito faction. Maybe it is best to have an outdoor grow in a state where it is not legal so the gringos don't really look, like it's some kind of sport. I do know a lot of theft happens in CA in the mountains. Sad, really.

Today it should be about 75 degrees, then this weekend another cold front (not arctic) and hopefully then the winter will be over and no more frost at night. I'd like to be able to just move the small heater out into the bigger greenhouse because I have so much packed into that little one at night, it is raining in there in the morning! hahaha.

Trichs on my two older plants are now about all cloudy. I'm waiting for some amber because I want this to be for pain treatment. I smoked a different strain the other day, no idea what it is (I bought an ounce while back but who knows) and I noticed a definite difference in the way this cannabis makes my body feel. I could feel every voluntary and involuntary muscle and sphincter and diaphragm in my body relax. Not that the sphincters are not relaxed...oy, deeper and deeper! TMI Everything is fine. Geez. Dennise, I need another woman at all times! Get in here.

Absolutely mate....an old saying that I live by. I have 3 "kids"......only 1 (the boy lol) knows about my hobby. My other son, ironically, was telling me last week how he'd like to do a small 4 plant grow because all his mates grow. I acted shocked lol :) He doesn't smoke AT all....not tobacco, green...NADA....just fancies a few quid for a holiday.

Ooo was up spraying the girls.. It's a term they use in the field. Just a group of guys usually come in numbers.. They chop your stuff usually when the moon isn't full.. Lot of tricks to that trade. Like they come in during the shift change too and try to look like farmers. It's funny one guy I saw in a grow that has odd people every now and then wearing farming gear- the hat and everything. But he walked onto my land. If you know these grows, you know noone does that. I chased him into the bitter melons lol He got in a car waiting for him on the street. They try everything. It's late August through October you have to sleep out there or your stuff is gone. Not to mention the other farmers would help themselves to your buds too.

I was going to do autos this year and be out by August, but they changed the laws. I guess the feds chopped 25k trees on this one guys land last year and some fake cop got shot in the neck trying to steal 500 plants from a Laotian grow.

I would never try to steal from the Lao. It's just gambling. They hire guys and those guys aren't farmers. We are just farmers basically with traps setup and good eyes. We won't shoot anyone, I think that's why we get messed with so much. But you have to put up a front like you will, setup alarms, stuff like that. Even had scarecrows we'd sit in chairs made out of trash bags and put clothes on them. Anything to look bigger in number. It's kind of a rush in a way tracking these guys. Sometimes they don't even see you at night. Gets funny in a way. Watch a guy take a piss cause he thinks he's alone, then rush him when he's got his pants down so he pisses all over himself :) Near the end I was gonna go in wearing lipstick because I really thought we weren't going to make it. We were getting hit hard because some vets had harvested. Had things setup at home in case something went wrong..

Yeah it's a different life that's for sure. You gotta drive in circles to lose anyone following you home. Kind of crazy. :)

Crooks lurk in every corner where money's involved.

About 33 days. They are autos which had some setbacks due to temperature issues. They are very sticky and have nice fragrance when I enter the ghouse in the morning. I took a video and got a new youtube account to post it. See it here:

I love being able to hear you!!! You sound exactly like I had you in my head. I don't know why I didn't see this before but somehow I missed it. I love your greenhouse and my fella brought in one of the little ones you have inside for the babies when he came home this time. So I guess he has a plan for building the greenhouse and wanted me to know he hadn't forgotten. Everything looks great and I see some cloudy in there and I'm sure by now they are.......:circle-of-love:

Thanks Dee. This friggin weather! I just want my trichs to go amber, or as Boston Rob calls it, ambuh.

Wooo Hoooo.....Steven Spielberg MOVE OVER :) Great vid GF :) You know what, I kinda guessed you'd sound that way too :)

Heh, I always hate the way I sound. I just asked Mark if I have a very squeaky voice and he said no, it's average. WFT does THAT mean?

I just battened down the hatches. It's going to get cold and windy and may rain. I hope if it is cloudy, it rains. Why waste my time with clouds if no rain falls out? Just don't attach your brother, the tornado. Thank you, weather.

I learned that all autos/femseeds are ruderalis, I'm not 100% sure, from what I read about ruderalis, it looks like a single Indica strain?

That makes no sense to me. I'm hoping a pro can jump in here and fill us in on this subject. This started when I mentioned autos to a very seasoned member, he responded, calling them ruderalis, implying ALL autos are rudes? I'm baffled and eager to learn more about these autos I just got my hands on.

Thanks for the post space GF! What kind of parrot? :thankyou:

I have a Hahn's Macaw. She is 12 years old. A baby.

Okay, plants are named dependent on their flower parts, taxonomic-ally speaking. So you have Cannabis indica, C. sativa and hemp is C. ruderalis. Autos are hybridized with both C. indica and sativa, but added in is the ruderalis for the independent way it flowers without photo period. In this case, the ruderalis is only a feature of the auto strains, not the dominant genetic. C. ruderalis has no THC. They make rope out of it! My uncle grew 400 acres of it between his corn back in the 50s before the made it illegal. He lost the farm in the 60s. So, does this explain it? The ruderalis mechanism has been bred into the sativa/indica strains.
