Ganesha's Tent

Aborted the current Royal Dwarf grow, time to disinfect the tent
I shoved them in an airpot and under the Sun, and I'll see what happens over the next days.
The fungal infection when seedlings although they survived very much stunted their growth, the bud feels good though, ever since that LED en Hesi nutrients the bud that forms is always very resistant to compression, If I squeeze one I'm alway pleasantly surprised as usually I think it doesn't look it but it's always there.
but I want a clean room for the new seedlings as to avoid a repeat scenario from the current grow.

Indeed maybe good practice to halt each time but what makes it fast now is that I slide in the new plants with the old which takes a few weeks off the time.
But it's indeed maybe not wise as the last time I really cleaned the tent as in wipe it down wet is a couple of grows ago.

hmm grow has gone South a bit again very early yellowing and purple red stems, I'm currently blaming the carton cups I used, I've noticed with seedlings these cups will fungus overnight if left too moist and I plant the plants with them, so change now is not use the cups and put cake racks under the smart pots so air can travel underneath.
I did get some bud but nothing fancy

A friend of mine bought my old homebox tent and my wanted some light as well so I sold him the Mars Hydro TS-1000, Sigh he wasn't to keen on my Lumatek 400w, I can't get anyone interested in that, It's a new bulb and electronic supply and it's got a wall box with plug & timer and a cooltube.
I ran the TS-1000 for exactly a year so.. and replaced it with a.. weaker light! :D the Mars Hydro SP-150 a couple watts less but I think the spread will be much better for my 0,5m x 1m tent with the TS-1000 I basically created a giant hot spot in the middle, now I have two panels side by side lengthwise.

I would have loved the SP-250 but that wasn't available anymore at 90cm that would be perfect for full bloom coverage.

Although I'm noticing this light creates a lot more heat, not bad for the coming winter but the with the TS-1000 it was already a bit of struggle keeping it cool enough in the summer fan & exhaust had to be running all the time.. with this one.. hmm well maybe I shouldn't be tent growing in the summer.

I've got BSF seeds Amnesia Auto XXL and one Zamnesia Runtz in the glass, gonna plant them tomorrow.

Looking at the Smartpots, roots growing in and through the bottom could also be the problem, that's why I was thinking cakeracks under the pots now they grow in a soggy bottom as the bottom can remain wet for a long time after watering when I put them back directly on the ground, perfect for the roots to grow brown and infect the rest root up, so I'm going to try to prevent that as well.
But still gonna avoid the carton seedling pots as well problems kinda started when I started using those.

About the SP150 being hotter, temps act very different than with the TS-1000, I guess because of it's shape it acts as a radiator and temperatures above and below the light and in the corners of the tent are more uniform than before where they would differ wildly depending location. Interesting, and temperatures are overal 3,5°c warmer than with the TS-1000 in place. It's now 27, something° all around the tent, also no 32°c hotspot in the middle under the light which was the case with the TS very hot under the middle of the light, colder above the light and colder in the upper and lower tent corners.

And We're Off!! Again..

1 Zamnesia Runtz & 3 BSF Amnesia Auto XXL
16 Oct. they've soaked in a glass for 24 hours, sprouted tails and planted into the soil, soil is standard prefed mix for 2 months, I've added some Zamnesia Monster Bud Mix nutrient grains in the bottom 5cm of the pots but only a smudge, a 3 finger pinch salting , as first time I used those half strength was way too much.
I'll be just watering until further notice from the plants really, maybe something midway flower.

Found two racks for under the pots that will do, but need to find two more.
Temperature above the soil is around 26-27° with the light at 24"
Humidity between 35 & 50% depending on exhaust fan and water content in the pots.
I'm gonna veg 24 hours the first week, weeks?, we'll see, when the light goes off the first time plants shoot up, so I'm hoping to delay that process until they are already a bit of a plant and then let them come up and give them 18/6? does it work like that? I'll find out I guess, and I'm kinda hoping to have them ready before the end of year.

This morning they were peeking above ground, by the evening we've got our first mini solar panels.

I've used to photone app to measure around the tent, the light is a bit weaker all over but it's spread better around the tent than with the TS-1000 it's an odd measure tent, so it's hard to find something that covers it well it's 1,6 foot by 3,2 foot.
The corners now receive more than with the TS, overal it's more uniform lighting for my space so I'm looking forward to it, the light also seems to run a bit cooler now, it's been on since I plugged it in.

Now I hope I've got everything under control for a good run, previous two were plagued with fungus from the biodegradable pots, and from lack of aeration of the smartpots, I've got the bottom now covered in racks so the pots are two cm's off the floor and air can move under them, this way roots will prune there too instead of growing through and turning brown in a wet puddle under the pot. It's the only things I've noticed and can think of that are were wrong as otherwise everything is good, temperature & humidity is okay and controlled. The plants always grow fast and pretty well, I've got the crushed Diatoms now to combat any flies, which really is a godsent, thanks LLsbestgo as that really deals with them quickly.

I still have one left from the previous grow, it's roots now just sit on top of a bucket of all the others soil as I removed it from the tent and washed the smart pot for reuse, but that process actually did it good and leave dying stopped a bit, I'm still watering it a bit to keep it going and I put it outside when it's sunny, If this one didn't turn ill it would have been pretty sweet, but even so it's doing it's best, I can still feel it firming up but the nugs are small.
Best run so far were the Royal Dwarfs as those produced some main buds you could grab like a soda can.
But that was before the smart pots and the carton seedling pots, those things changed and problems arose, So I hope I've adjusted now and this run hits the mark. And is done before the NY :D

Been playing around more with the Photone App and been reading up about PPFD and Autoflowers which changes things with light duration and Autos can do with a bit less over a longer time, cool you can set the daily light integral with the app, with 24 hours I've raised my light to a meter off the tent floor and 80cm/31,5" above the plants so that the DLI reading at the plants is around 19-20mol since they are just a week old.

With the light at a meter over the tent floor the corners of the tent still receive around 220-250 PPFD which is actually pretty good, sliding up the wall it goes to about 300 before cutting out of the lighting angle and as soon as I move inward the numbers increase so it's just a couple of inches on each side that are a bit weak for flowering but I don't think the plants will mind since there's more energy available in the corners than with the previous light.

I'm gonna add bit more soil and create a watering gusset as I try to water around the plants but it keeps spilling to the middle.

Didn't put any soil in rather some crushed diatoms as I saw something gnatlike disappear into the ground.

I've been reading this page Understanding Grow Light PAR, PPFD, Wattage And DLI (2021)
and here they recommend a lot less light intensity for Autoflowers.

They threw up some big first leaves and didn't raise much, very different from sprouting them in the little pots, as these are bigger than the previous batch in the same amount of time.
Those went more beanstalky and remained a few days longer in the previous picture phase,

Had one strip left from the cutting, cut that into circles just to keep some more photons bouncing around in that layer to stimulate side growth.
And that Runtz is going like crazy she smeared her first leaves out over more than 4" and is already budding branches.
I'm gonna keep going like this till Monday, then they are two weeks.. and then maybe introduce 18/6 and lower the light a tad, but also give the light and plants some rest that's been on since I got it.

I do mist often with my little mushroom sprayer which creates a very fine mist.

Hello @Fenderbender hope you are doing good today.
Great garden.
I love the water displacement trays around the base.
Stay safe.
