Ganesha's Tent

Is this ok?.. I tried the scrog net, but it has too few, and too large holes..
The danger with this is that it's probably too rigid? and can cut into the plant, and once the plant is in there well I can't move it without tearing the whole plant apart.

I removed a bunch of the leaves underneath.. but I'm thinking I'm going to have remove branches as well.. I want to create bigger branches.. but now already all kinds of small shoots are coming up from these branches underneath.. those have to go right?
Otherwise it's going to be a complete jungle with loads of small lanky things shooting through and I kinda just want to preserve the main bud site from each normal branch out and position those evenly.
I mean I don't know I've never tried this before like this.
But I feel I kinda need to strip the root system as you would with topping a plant?

You can strip all branches and foliage below the light line no problem. :thumb:
Don't understand what you mean about the roots?
Hope your having a good day my friend.

Thanks Bill, yeah sorry I don't mean the actual root system but well the stem or branch system, the supply line :) when topping you clear all the rest on it away, that's what I meant.

All's well, fresh strings on the classical guitar, and I'm gonna do some actual gardening as there's a lot there to be tamed as well, and I got a cool new Japanese manual saw to test out.. as I really like working in the garden but that pleasure goes down hill when I have to use power tools, as for me the whole thing is I get the exercise and be out and about in quiet nature, hearing a motor and smelling gasoline the whole time doesn't provide the same quality of experience.
How's you?

The garden has been a God send for me.
With out it my recovery would have been so much worse.
I built custom homes for a living, nothing but stress and noise.
Finding this plant has changed everything in my life.
I still enjoy building. When I can.
But the serenity of the garden is unparalleled.
I agree completely. :thumb:

I have noticed some white spots on the leaves and found some thrips, great gnats & thrips.. although the gnats are very low on population right now it seems puffing diatoms on the tent floor is most effective as they do seem to land there a lot.
So I've filled my mister with distilled water, hydrogen peroxide and a drop of soap and hosed down the plant and checked the leaves.
I've also put some crushed Sichuan peppercorns on the soil, as I read the oil of them can be used to create an insecticide.
And I've just put some reflective tent material under the plant after taking the picture, this way lights gets reflected to the underside of the leaves to make bugs that want to hang out in the shade less comfortable.

Cleaned up the tent a bit, with the light so high up I wanted some room up there and nothing touching.. I also have all the power finally going outside of the tent now and the powerblock on top.. it used to be strapped in the tent top to a pole but that was a bad idea as my analog timers were going bust probably by the humidity that accumulates in the top of the tent.
Now I can also control the machines without opening the tent.. hmm a peep through window would have been nice.

Still fighting the thrips and gnats, (it was a very bad idea accepting plants from elsewhere and putting them in my tent but I moved those to the greenhouse) population is low but never zero.. I've ordered some yellow sticky traps, to have another tool in the fight.

I know I said never again autos.. but that's for the tent that is.
I can always put some in the greenhouse or garden.
I went for Green-o-matics from GreenHouseSeeds (I miss Franco giving a run down of the plant's performance)
And got a free Blueberry to go with.
I think they are more like low riders as they just form a short plant and bud that's ready in 6-7 weeks (prolly lots longer under natural light) I might stick two on the other side of the tent for a couple of weeks of vegging as I still got some time before I'm reaching there with the photoperiod. The rest in the greenhouse and the blueberry in the garden.

Great thread 'Bender! Just binged most of it. Good luck with that photo-plant, I hope it brings you the challenge and satisfaction you were looking for.

Thanks, Well it certainly is a challenge, the airpotinsectcapsulehotel is one, getting it to the other side is one, and then the flower period will be another one, as lot of growing still happens when switching it to 12.
And it's not a very powerful light, it works great with autos as well they can receive enough energy with the time interval but I haven't tried flowering photoperiods with it.
But I have a lots of confidence in the strain, I've never seen her not do well. Even plagued she's still doing great now, I've grown her in hydro and outside and it always is a pleasant surprise.

"Ja, alsof er een engeltje op je tong piest!" that sounds like my northern neighbours.

@Bill284 I'm sorry Bill but I'm gonna take that airpot and throw it in a volcano.
Gnats & Airpots are just a nightmare.. the sticky traps are working great as I've caught entire generations coming out, but there's always more, and they've got too much entry points and hide away spots with it.. It's just not fun anymore.. I'm always looking for something buzzing when opening the tent instead of sending love to the plants.

I'm so sorry about the knats my friend. :Namaste:
It's soil right?
I heard there are 2 kinds and the root ones are nasty.
And hard as he'll to get rid of.
Plus an air pot is just a hiway for them.
H202 helps and SNS is good aswell.
What have you been using besides the traps?

Stay safe
Bill

@Bill284
What's SNS?

I've been using sticky traps and diatomaceous earth and vacuum cleaner, I haven't tried using hydrogen peroxide in the feed, I know that bubbles some larvae.
Although at the moment I'm not really feeding just watering with ph- and some root complex as the soil I've used was for olive trees and seems to be very well fed.
Yeah I put the blame very much on the air pot as with the root pouches I was able to get rid of gnats pretty quickly but these just have too many holes and hide outs.. ugh.

It's so disheartening, I've caught hundreds of flies with the traps, I've cleaned out the whole tent again, vacuumed and wiped every nook & cranny, but of course there are still in the plant, I'm thinking about flowering it so I can be done with it and get rid of the airpot.
Of course the autos will now get infected as well but I'm gonna make a paper cutout for the pots and douse that with the crushed diatoms.
Or order the nematodes and put those in the pots.
