Do you reuse your coir/bokashi/frass.. I’m figuring you don’t as you can’t layer the pot up the same. if you could enlighten me on this buddy, as ever..

How long does coco last?

Does anyone else reuse coco. Does it break down to a powder eventually. Does it retain salts and anything bad for the plant. I let chopped pots dry completely before pulling stump and any old roots. Then I mix in Bokashi fras&das perilite and same amount of new coco in a huge tub for a 50/50...

Time to do more up potting.
I read a thread today talking about coco.
I don’t like 3 gal bags. They just don’t hold enough roots or coco or nutrients.
I prefer 5 gal. More roots bigger fruits.
Some days it’s hard to water twice. So 5 gal holds enough to get her through. IMO.

Bags are great.
But short of DWC air pots are the best hands down. Just costly.
I got all these cloth pots for price of 2 air pots.

I put a layer of perilite on bottom and sprinkle Bokashi.
And mist it to activate it.

Then layer coco with perilite.
Sprinkle Bokashi and Frass & Dazzle each layer.
Mist each layer to activate the microbes.

Once you reached corrected hight. More perilite and Bokashi and Frass & Dazzle.
Set in your plug. Be careful don’t go too high. You can raise it but to lower it you have to dig it out.
Keep layering until you get the right height.

Leave the plug a little higher.
That way when you water it flows to outside automatically.
REMEMBER water where you want roots to go.
Not where they are.

To up pot an air pot is simple.
You just unwrap them.
I spray outside with a little kelp and sprinkle mycro on roots before I put it in the pot.

Leave the plug higher then layer perilite around it.
More Bokashi and Frass & Dazzle. This helps water go to outside of pot this way roots will chase it.
I want to fill the pot with roots ASAP.

Fill it up and make sure you have a slope to the outside.
You can see the starter cubes I used in this one.

Now my whole goal is to fill that pot with roots.
