I'll go buy a crock pot just for oil, where do you get a insta pot? and it looks like I'll end up with about a large freezer bag fullYeah just save it all together, no need to separate and yes it's worth it to make oil out of that. Do you have an insta pot? If so, I would do a fresh harvest oil, basically cook for 2 hours or so on high. If not, I might make it regular, dry out, decarb in the oven then slow cook in crock pot or in a pot stove top. I can drop some more links here. There are a lot better sources than me, I don't even make oil anymore the boss does all that.
Let's see how much you get once chopped, should be quite a bit unless Duggan suggests you take as little as possible.

ordered one last night! I can freeze the stuff I take now and throw it in when it gets here? How much oil do I use? just enough to cover the plant matterInstant pot would be much better than a crock pot. Plus you can use it for tons of other stuff. They rule!
amazon quick pot it is, what size

I'm looking forward to this! Thank you for the great information I'll show you what I end up wth before freezing tonightAwesome Farmer! Yes freeze. I'll need to see how much you have but the oil won't cover the plant matter. First you have to boil off the water in the plant. Most likely you will fill the pot full and it will reduce down. Set it on high if the one you got has that setting and let cook for an hour or so and check it, if it seems like most of the water has boiled off then it's time to add oil, I used extra virgin olive oil, EVOO, but you can use coconut oil or whatever. If you can't fit all the plant matter in first round you can add some once it's reduced, say 30 minutes or so then cook for an hour or until water is boiled Most of the way off before adding oil. You want a little water in there so it doesn't burn, the little bit left will boil off when you cook with oil in there. I'm thinking you'll add a cup or two but show me how much plant your working with. Cook that all at high temp for 1/2 hour or so then reduce the heat to low and cook for anywhere from 1-6 hours. 1 should be enough but longer slow cook put out more potent oil. When still warm you will filter out plant matter with either a metal mesh strainer, then coffee filters or cheese cloth or I bought a piece of silk (ill have to dig up info on that but it's really strong, you can squeeze it very hard to get all oil out) then for each cup of oil you will want to add 1 tablespoon of liquid sunflower lecithin and stir it in, that increases bio-availability of the thc. We get either online or at health food store, brand we use is blue mountain organics.
This is really an experiment that came from this method, Fresh Harvest Infused Cannabis Oil
I made some oil for someone with freshly chopped plants and she took 1 capsule and got so wasted that she needed to be baby sat for the good portion of the day. Then I decided to try it with a pile of trimming from a few weeks into flower and it worked surprisingly well.
Duggs this is a amazing place for sure!! ween has been the best through this hell I'd probably have dead girls along time ago if it weren't' for you guys. And yes I do believe I got this now! I'll be plucking all those lower swimmers tonight and getting the girls ready for those cats! just a re cap I have 10 gallon pots and do I feed the cats the same way 15ml to a gallon with tea? or should I go a little lighter on the cats the first feed to see how the girls react and heavier on the 2nd.Good morning Farmers, Ween and friends. Wow ....looking at those down under pics, i see a whole lotta stuff that needs to come off. Hope you got it all pruned ...or most of it anyhow. It's so cool to see Ween sticking around helping with the oil thing , for ya. wat an awesome place eh...come on man!
Now that u got down ...and had a really close look at things ,..i think u get it now. It's easy to tell wat needs pruning , right? All those lil tiny branches ,...even with lil buds on em....off with them . Great u moved the light up slightly. Your on your way now farmers. U are 'on point' with asking lottsa great questions . Please, don't stop...use everyone here for all they're worth ...we don't mind ...love helping new growers succeed...we get 'off' on it! cheers eh.
Duggs, can I trim some of the large fan leaves tonight also? or just stick to the lower small weaker branches and leaves closer to the main stemsNope...keep ALL Drenches mixed at 15mls. per gal. NO stronger ..and no weaker OK! Give two CD's. back to back then after those , give them a drink of straight water (with a lil Tea) then get back to GI w/ Tea......right on track!
gotcha only the little shoots for now!Ya....you could prune off the big fans that are way down low ,...but...but...if they are nice and healthy....and green...leave them alone for a while. Those big fans that are down low like that help feed the roots and keep Brix levels very high OK. We wanna keep as many of those big healthy fans 'on' as long as we can. Later on ,,during mid to late bloom ,..this is when i start to thin them out a lil...just to open things up some , for the stuff below...so, i remove some of those...i call them upper shade fans....and i like to remove some of them...but NOT all...OK!
