Fun In The Sun 2016 - Tiger - Ape - Pitbull - Gorilla & More - Run Wild

Top of the day to ya Major....ya eh...they all look really good to me too! Man, I can't wait to see them in a couple months...wow they're gonna be freekin huge Major. Lovin it pal....yeepa! Like the look of the leaves on GT+....I sure hope she finishes for ya. Have an awesome night.
My new light has shipped YEEPA! :thumb:
Thanks, duggan! Great news about the new light. More power!

Ok. You see 'em every day and are way more invested in them than casual journal readers.

There is more than one soil involved, too?

Which plants are in this one?
All the plants are in that soil. In fact I keep wondering if I mixed it thoroughly and if that might explain it. But I did. I mixed the amendment well and then diluted it with soil. Then I mixed a bunch more and diluted it again. Then I mixed the dilute amendment into the remaining soil and mixed some more. Finally, when shoveling the soil mix into the pots, I randomized it by placing one shovel full into each pot, then repeated until finished (mixing the soil in each pot even more as they were filled).

The most universal "problem" is an appearance of being over-watered. They are not. One plant (GASS has a little yellowing on newer leaves with a cupping to them. None of the others are like this.

Here are some examples

GASS
GASS15.jpg

GT(+) at her worst. She usually looks better but never really perky
GT19.jpg

Right next to GT(+) is AS which seems happy as a clam. This is at her worst. She usually looks nearly electric.
AS12.jpg

These two plants should be identical. Both cuttings came from the same mom at the same time and have been treated the same.

The sorry looking plant also has a lot of yellowing going on at the bottom that is hard to see in this quick pic.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone? Bueller?
I know it is a loaded question and the sawdust is certainly a huge wildcard in the game.

Yes Major , i do,....IMO it looks like the soil is too hot. The ingredients look good to me but ....did you add a lil too much. Not 100% sure though bud, just the first thing that came to mind. Keep a very close eye on the margin tips and of course the tips themselves. If they get worse and get burnt and crispy looking its "over fertilization"...for sure. If they were mine , i would give straight water ONLY! Just my two bud! Cheers eh! Anyone else? Thoughts?

It is very possible, duggan.
I tried to err on the side of too little nutrients. I figured I could always top dress or supplement in some other way. My goal was to have my amendment at 50% to 75% of what I think should be in there. All they ever get is water, so if the problem is too much of something, maybe it will sort itself out over time.
What is weird is how different they are. As you know, Golden Tiger and Zamaldelica are very closely related. My GT+ looks droopy at times, but not at others (watering doesn't change it). But right next to it, ZD+ is perky and happy. LH is loving life, as well. One small AS is all fugly while the other is nearly perfect. WTF???

If new growth shows deficiency they are micronutrients involved, cause they are immobile so plant cannot move them around. But if you mixed in everything and I don't really know what it's most likely a lockout. I'd call it too much calcium to magnesium ratio or the opposite not enough magnesium to calcium ratio.

Thanks guys!
That's two votes for a possible mag issue. Easy enough to add a little bit to one of them as a test.

Top of the day to ya friend! I know ya don't wanna hear this but ....these minor issues going on with your girls.....is exactly why i switched from supersoil recipe's to DBHBB....i can't handle the guess work any more , too stressfull...i don't think it's fun at all , wondering if ya put too much of this ...or not enough of that ....sure we all learned from it , but no more guessing for me! Let the people with lab coats on do it...they are qualified...i'm not! You would think it's easy to throw a bunch of things together but, but what ratios ...are they correct...do they interact properly, ya know. I remember before i started with Doc's gear i tried his 6/5/3 method a couple times and was very surprised at how little Doc told me to put in the bale of promix for that 6/5/3 soil. I would have added three or four times the amount he said to add. I didn't know...now i do. Working with DBHBB for a few yrs. has really opened my eyes to soil....that's for sure.
Have an awesome night my friend! :Namaste:

I notice you are using black plastic buckets Major, if the weather has been anything for you like it has been up north here, that means lots of sun and warm temperatures. I might suggest that you wrap your pots with either burlap or even cardboard so that the soil inside the pots does not heat up. I doubt that is the culprit to the issue you are presently battling with but with the heat we have been getting up here and sunlight, that could raise the temp of your soil high enough to kill off the outer 3 to 4 inches of roots which would not be a good thing.

Hope the rest of the week goes well for you :circle-of-love:

All strains aren't created equally and require different kinds of love. DBHBB looks like to someone who hasn't used it but has followed countless journals who have used it, could easily say its like driving an Automatic. Trying to dial in soil mix ratios per strain is like trying to learn how to drive a big rig, fly a helicopter and navigate a submarine. For those lucky ones using it can thank the Doc for being so good at operating big rig helicopter submarines :P (What would a big rig helicopter submarine look like?)

Yeah I've dabbed a lot of Rosin. Excuse my ramblin!

Thanks guys!

I was going to say maybe Manganese instead of Magnesium but that rust spot with the fade is kind of trademark of Magnesium.

Not a problem, bro. It doesn't stress me ... much. I didn't expect great results so if I get anything out of this - even just knowledge - I'm content. My primary goal is to learn. Even if I don't harvest a gram, I have enough already to easily last me a year. In fact I give away almost everything I grow.

My second goal is to be self-sufficient. I hope to be able to apply what I learn to our veggie garden too. My best results to date was with my soil used last summer, but the guy who made that amendment left the area. I know I could have my soil tested and buy reformulated HB stuff, but it gets expensive and I'm still left out of being able to replicate it if/when I can no longer get it. This is all locally available, relatively cheap and this testing and learning is what makes it fun for me. Otherwise all I'd be doing is watering when needed (boring). :high-five:

Thanks OG! I use white plastic trash bags around the pots when needed. It cuts the temps way down on the roots. I cooked some of my pots last year so I so keep an eye on them.

Hi major!

Subbed up! This is cool, got some healthy and some not quite as healthy but once you get them all dialed in this is looking to be epic!
:thanks: drc :welcome: aboard!

Things look much better today. I think I may have a handle on what's been happening but I want to be sure...

I'd hit em with some w/WAY10X in some DeStress :)
 Right after I finish their SWICK!

Hey Major, we were talking about spider mites yesterday and when I brought my plants in for the night I found this in my cabinet going to work. That's crazy! :thanks:

Excellent!
Nature's bug Hoover. :cheesygrinsmiley:
I love seeing them, but then I remember they must be finding something to eat... :thedoubletake:

Looking good. Interested to see how the pig does. Also GG4.

:thanks: BN!
Both Pig and Duck were castrated this week. One plant in each grew balls so they both had to go. Of course it was the bigger plant in both cases. Other than that they are doing great.
I'll try to update tomorrow.
:high-five:
