Fun In The Sun 2016 - Tiger - Ape - Pitbull - Gorilla & More - Run Wild

How are your girls after that wind?

It's raining here in the Willammette valley. I'm goint to try and build a cover for them soon. I have one mexican haze that has no pistils yet...

Any new pics?

AS survived OK. It might affect the yield a little, but not badly. GASS is f#$%'d. It is alive but the branches are all flaccid and bunched together. I've done my best to prop them up, but I'm just going to let her go until it is ready for harvest, or starts molding/rotting. I suspect it will be a latter. The rest are doing great. I'll try to get pic's up later today. I just got the cover over the mail grow. It looks like hell, but I think it will give me a few extra weeks. That could make all the difference in the finish of LH. Photos are nearly impossible in there. Even though I plasnted 8' apart, all the plants have grown together so I have to sort of burrow my way in there to water them.

Do you think you can finish your Wild Thai under a cover? It looks like it has a ways to go. :goodluck:

Update (Week 31 / Bloom Week 4)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Here is a quick update - really just more pictures. Water, water, more water. 8 gallons each right now every other day. LH #2 in the veggie garden is actually budding but I didn't get photos of her. GASS is a mess and is almost certainly going to rot or mold.

Here is the new cover. Putting a square over a pyramid makes for plenty of wrinkles, but I think it will give me the extra time I need to bring GG4 and LH #1 home.

Inside is crazy crowded. This is looking left and right from just inside the gate.

Left and right from the opposite/back side. I planted them 8' apart but still they've grown together almost everywhere.

These three pic's are of AS after the wind blew the crap out of her. I've been tying up branches and I think she'll be OK. Probably another4 weeks for her.

ZD(+) is blooming - barely but the ones up high are farther along.

Even GT(+) finally got pre-flowers. I had to SC most of her tops since she is in the corner and about 9' tall.

GG4 still impresses me. She is one fuzzy lady and smells of lemon/lime.

I have to run into town, so that's all I've got this morning.

:thanks: :Namaste:

Bummer about the GASS. I'm sorry... Doesn't sound good at all. Might make some good edibles if it doesn't perk up soon...

I'm going to start with a cover kind of like you have... Then once I harvest a couple others I will have more room to move in the garden and then I will build a complete greenhouse around the Thai and Mexican Haze. I think they will finish.. :fingerscrossed:

I am excited, I have always wanted a greenhouse. This gives me a good reason to build one. The Thai and Haze are in just the right place, the greenhouse will fit perfect.

Doesn't it tick you off that all the main colas just start falling over with no way to prop them up so they don't eventually rot from being lumped into a bunch? That's one of my biggest problems in the garden I've found & with no one to help on this end makes it that much harder to get it done. Grrrr & I feel for ya Major!:lot-o-toke:

It REALLY ticks me off, and I realized why.
I know, if I really busted my ass, I could probably save most of the plant. As it is, I think I'll still get more than I need. So, being the lazy grower that I am, I decided not to put the effort in. Ultimately, it's on me. That's what ticks me off.

I'll pm you the password to the club in a few. One of my Durban's bit it today. :sigh: The only effort I'm putting into that is clippers and a wash. Still a beautiful sight to see overall Major. You're a far better slacker than me lol.

A very good morning to you Major. The "five" look good , but i know ...i can't see the real mess youve got there. I must say Major....are you done with these Sativa's yet? Looking at the Zam + , it has barely started to throw pistils out....she will need another two+months for sure , prolly even longer.(i bet you've thought of culling her once or twice eh) I can see that even outside growers still have problems with them with wind , weather, height restrictions, and time. I like the cover you got ...should buy you another couple /three weeks anyhow eh! I would like to see a couple Afghani in there next spring...just let a couple of those blow up in your garden...wow, and they would finish , no probs and thrive in your environment and be just about done now! Anyhow , what you have learned and taught the rest of us was and is priceless, so thankyou so much Major, for blazing the way. Cheers bud and have an awesome Sunday my friend!:Namaste:

I'll leave ZD and GT out there as long as possible, but yeah, they'll never make it. I have considered getting rid of them. It would make taking care of the rest of them much easier - not to mention the cover. But now that the cover is up, I'll try to ride it out. Once AS and GG4 get chopped it won't be so bad. If LH #1 finishes, I'll let those sativas do whatever they'll do right up until they freeze. Could be interesting! Next year I'll only grow four plants outdoors and I'll try to make sure they all finish quickly. I thought LH would be easy to bring in but they are much later to begin bloom than I expected.

Hey major I got another question for ya where did you find that tarp?it looks tougher than the standard visiqueen plastic cover.

.........

My wife found it on the "Bay". It is heavy duty = 14 mil thick with reinforcing fiber and grommets every 18". They are available in lots of sizes. If your search for "clear tarp" you should find them. They are sold as car and boat covers. If you don't find them, PM me.

Update (Week 32 / Bloom Week 5)

This grow is hanging on by a thread - literally at times. The cover I put up may have to come down.
Actually it isn't a matter of if it will come down. It's just a matter of when. We've had gusty winds for a couple of weeks. The weak part of my frame is the very top. I used a 'cross' to join the four ribs that run out to the corners. So far, two crosses have broken. All it takes is a good gust of wind. I can't really replace them any longer. I can't get a ladder in there w/o chewing up at least two plants. Also, you know how bugs fly into the light? Guess what is up in the top of the tent? About thirty pissed off yellow jackets - right where I need to work. I did manage to run a bunch of duct tape around the most recent break, but it will fail sooner or later. The cover is sagging as a result of one rib being loose and rotated. Oh well - live and learn. I hope to salvage the cover and use it next year over a hoop house. I see why recommendations are to buy 20' lengths of pipe from a plumbing supply store, rather than the 10' pieces at the big boxes. The unions or other fittings are the weak links when bending.

Photo bomb update of the week (sorry - way too many).

More pic's of ZD(+). The first photo barely shows the duct tape holding things together up top. The last photo shows the rib that broke free.
